Trouble In Paradise

CHAPTER TWO
Trouble In Paradise

“Zzzzzzzz~”

Bernice Liu looked to her right with a disgusted expression on her face. What a shame to be stuck in this horrible seat. Bernice silently cursed herself for having such bad luck. Not only was this guy snoring with his mouth wide open but saliva were oozing out of his mouth. Bernice just had the urge to shut him up! She had never met someone so ill-mannered in her life! Okay, that was a lie–you ought to exaggerate sometimes right?

Bernice tapped Ella who was sitting in the seat in front of her–how lucky was Ella, she didn’t have to deal with this snoring pig!

“Ella, I’m going crazy!” Bernice hissed.

Ella looked helplessly at her friend, “Do you want to switch seats?”

Bernice shook her head–if she did switch, Bernice would feel as if she had taken advantage of Ella and that was not considered a ‘good friend’. At least not in Bernice’s dictionary. “No, it’s alright. I guess–I’ll just have to deal with it for a few more hours.”

. . . . . . .

“Ron, I’m really hungry.” Tavia cried, pointing to her growling stomach.

“Tavia–didn’t you just ate a bag of chips, I don’t know, like about 10 minutes ago?” Ron asked, pretending to look at his imaginary watch.

Glaring at Ron, Tavia retorted, “But that was 10 minutes ago!”

“You are such a pig!” Ron laughed, pinching Tavia’s nose.

Tavia scrunched up her face and stuck her tongue out at Ron, “You’re one too.”

. . . . . . . . . .

Meanwhile, Bernice and Ella was dealing with the snoring pig (a.k.a Mr. Kenneth Ma) and Ron was dealing with Tavia’s constant hunger, Raymond, Linda, Leila, and Bosco had all fallen asleep, soundlessly.

. . . . . . . . . .

2 hours later...

‘Good afternoon, my dear passengers.’ a gentle voice came over the speaker. ‘I am your pilot for today and my name is Moses Chan. As you all know, I am in charge of your safety and will bring you to your destination which is the Bahamas. However, due to technical difficulties, we will be landing onto ‘Lost Island’–shortly. I am terribly sorry for this inconvenience, until this problem is solved, you will be staying at ‘Lost Island’. Again, I am truly sorry.’

After the message was announce, a loud groan escape from Kenneth’s lips.

“What? Lost Island? I have never heard of that before! Man–and I thought I could hook up with some hot chick by tonight.” Kenneth exclaimed, not noticing the glare Bernice was giving him.

“I wonder where we’ll be staying then.” Ella voiced out her opinion. “An island? I’ve never been to one, it sounds fun, actually.”

“I just want to get out of this plane, real quick!” Bernice added, giving Kenneth a side glance.

“Tavia, did you hear that? We’re going to be st–“ Ron turned around to nudge Tavia but she had already fallen asleep. Looking at the sleeping Tavia, Ron smiled to himself.

“Oh my–Raymond, I think we should call Aunty..” Linda trailed off, she stared at Raymond who was clearly not listening to a thing she just said. He seemed....spaced out.

“Augh~are you kidding me? What kind of stupid plane is this?” Leila Tong mumbled in frustration, glaring at the innocent Bosco who could only give her a shrug in reply.

“Attention passengers, please immediately return to your seat and put on your seatbelt. Landing will begin in 5 minutes.” the intercom echoed throughout the plane as the flight attendant scurried to her seat.

. . . . . . . . .

“Wooo! Fresh air!” Bosco shouted, raising both his arms in the air–stretching his limbs. It was nice to step out of the plane. It was warm outside, no signs of thunderstorm or raindrops. The skies were exceptionally blue today. Bosco squinted his eyes as he met the sun’s rays–the weather was indeed beautiful yet he was feeling uncomfortable for an unknown reason. Something just didn’t click.

“Please follow me.” The flight attendant shouted. Gigi Lai. Bosco caught a glimpse of her name tag when she walked by him. She was very attractive for her age and her curvaceous body was to die for. However, she just wasn’t his type. Plus, Bosco had suspected there was something going on between the flight attendant and the pilot by the way they looked at each other.

Snap.

Bosco blinked his eyes. In front of him was Leila. “What are you doing? Don’t stand there like a statue. Let’s go!”

Bosco nodded, “Alright, let’s go!”

“YES! YES! YES!” Bernice jumped up and down. Boy was she ever so glad she got out of that plane and away from the ‘snoring pig’. If there was anything she hated was when people snore. Hey, everyone has a pet peeve right? Snoring just so happens to be hers. Yet she wondered how she had manage to survive hours beside him.

Ella chuckled from behind, “Was he THAT bad?”

“Oh yes he was! You know snoring always gets on my nerves. Anyway, I wonder how long we will be staying here.” Bernice wondered aloud, walking ahead whilst examining the place. It didn’t look as bad as she imagined it to be. Instead it was totally amazing, even words could not describe how beautiful it was. Palm trees were swaying and soft sand beneath her toes...

“This place is beautiful.” Ella breathed, looking at her surroundings. She made a note to self that the first thing to do was to explore the beach. This place was paradise.

“It is.” Bernice replied, “But something doesn’t feel right.” she mumbled the last sentence to herself.

Tavia let out a loud yawn as she covered her mouth with her hand, “We’re here already? I thought Bahamas was way bigger than this? I mean–it is big, but...” Tavia trailed off with a yawn.

“Tavy, you were sleeping that’s why you didn’t hear what the pilot had said.” Ron explained, pulling both of their luggage along while trying to help the ever-so-sleepy Tavia.

“Oh, what did he say?”

“He said there was something wrong with the plane..I think?” Ron questioned himself, not quite remembering what the pilot had said earlier. “Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is that you shouldn’t have stayed up so late yesterday.”

“I couldn’t sleep! I was so excited!” Tavia defended herself.

“Uh-huh.” Ron smiled, he knew he was annoying Tavia even further.

“Hey!”

“C’mon let’s go see where we’re staying at for now and might as well make some friends!” Ron suggested, running ahead whilst Tavia trailed behind.

“The connection doesn’t seem to work here.” Linda replied, looking at her cellphone. No signals, it read. “I hope Aunty doesn’t get too worried.”

“As if she’ll care.” Raymond mumbled but Linda caught what he had said.

“Of cour–“ Linda started but was interrupted by Raymond.

“You don’t need to defend her.” Raymond snapped, brushing past Linda–bumping into her, a bit too hard causing her to fall down. He was about to turn around and help her up but decided against it. Instead, he began to walk further ahead.

Linda sighed heavily, looking at Raymond’s back. She wondered what it would take to break down his wall of ice.

“You need help?” Kenneth asked, extending out an arm to her.

Smiling, Linda gratefully took his hand, “Thank-you very much.” Linda replied.

“No problem. That guy, what’s up with him? How can he make a girl fall?” Kenneth questioned, raising his brows.

“Oh, he’s just like that. Don’t worry, he’s just dealing with..some stuff right now.” Linda answered, smiling warmly at Kenneth.

Now, normally, if a girl that pretty would smile at Kenneth–he would definitely hit on her, but not in this case. This girl seems like she already has someone else in mind and he hated to go for a girl who’s taken.

“My name’s Linda, what’s yours?” smiled Linda, extending her right hand out.

“Kenneth Ma.” he happily took her hand.

. . . . . . . . .

“This is where you will be staying in the mean time. Please take a look around the place. I’ll...be right back.” Gigi said, ushering them all into the extravagant house. She took one last look at the 9 strangers before heading off.

Leila caught the strange look on Gigi’s face but decided it was probably nothing. Nonetheless, she felt that there was something weird about this ‘Gigi Lai’.

“OH MY GOD!! This place is awesome!!!!!!!” Bernice exclaimed, followed by screams as everyone place a finger over their ears.

“I CALL THE NICEST BEDROOM!” Kenneth shouted, running upstairs. Instantly, Bernice ran up after Kenneth.

“NO! I WANT THE NICEST BEDROOM!”

“Oh my god! Ron! Look at this kitchen!!!!!!” Tavia’s voice could be heard from, well–the kitchen.

“NO! TAVIA! YOU SHOULD SEE THIS BATHTUB! I SWEAR IT’S A JACUZZI!” Ron shouted in glee. “OH SNAP! THE BEDROOM! TAVIA COME UPSTAIRS AFTER YOU’RE DONE CHECKING OUT THE KITCHEN!!” with that said, he dashed upstairs.

“Leila, Leila! Come!!! Before all the good rooms are taken!!” Bosco cried, not wanting to lose out as well.

“Mmm you go first. I need to check up on something.” Leila waved Bosco off. That was it, something felt strange about ‘Gigi Lai’ and she was going to find out. Leila silently walked out of the house and made her way back to where the plane was.

Linda chuckled out loud as she too, ran upstairs.

Raymond mumbled incoherently, walking forward he didn’t see where he was going or rather, Tavia didn’t see where she was going and the two collided.

“Augh~” he let out a groan.

“Ouch..” Tavia cried, rubbing her forehead. Opening her eyes, a pair of dark, brown orbs greeted hers. Only then did she notice that she had ended up on top of this person. “S-s-sorry-y-y...” she stammered, unable to control herself as she felt her face flushed red.

“If you’re done staring––get off.” he snapped.

“O-ohh..s-sorry..” Surprisingly, she stayed there and didn’t move an inch even when he told her to. Her brain just wasn’t comprehending right now.

“OH MY F*CKING GOD! YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED!” At the sound of Leila’s boisterous voice, both of their heads turn to the door.

“Oh dear..” Ella cried, looking at the scene before her. By now, everyone was lined up behind her, wanting to know what happened. Ron’s eyes nearly popped out its socket. Linda looked uncomfortable, Ella looked confused, Bosco was worried about Leila. On the other hand, it seemed as if Bernice and Kenneth was enjoying the scene.

“THE PLANE IS GONE!! SO IS THE PILOT, THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT AND EVERYONE ELSE!!!! THEY’RE GONE!!”
