Truth or Dare

CHAPTER FOUR
Truth or Dare

“The plane didn’t come back for us...” Tavia trailed off, looking hopelessly at the other 8 sullen faces. It was the second day they were stuck on this island; not only was it rainy and dark outside, but there was also thunder. The sound of thunder—Tavia hated it; she was glad Ron was right beside her and that she wasn’t alone. It made her felt better. Not only were they bored out of their mind, they were also home sick.

“You actually believe that the plane would come back for us?” Raymond snickered. Why was this guy always against her?!?

“I..”

“Let’s play a game.” Ella’s sudden suggestion caught everyone’s attention. “Well, it’s better than not doing anything, just sitting here in front of the fireplace.”

“That’s true.” Bosco agreed, nodding his head. “Then, what should we play?”

“TRUTH OR DARE!” Bernice and Kenneth shouted in unison, glaring at each other afterwards.

“Sounds good! Alright, who’s up for it?” Ron asked, smiling like an idiot. Truth or dare; one of his favorite game.

“I’ll play.” Leila said.

“Me too.”
“Me three!”
“I’ll play too.”
“Me.”
“Count me in.”
“Of course I’m playing! What’s a game of truth or dare without Bernice Liu?”

Kenneth turned his head to the side and rolled his eyes.

“Raymond, you’ll play too, right?” Linda nervously asked.

He contemplated for awhile before confirming his answer, “Yeah.”

“OKAY! Let’s get it started. Hmm.. I’ll go get a bottle.” Ron suggested as he got up and went to search for bottle. A few minutes later he returned with an empty bottle in his right hand. “Okay, who wants to go first?”

“Are we playing ‘Spin the Bottle’?” Tavia asked with a perplexed expression on her face.

“No. He’s using the bottle to determine who’s going to ask who.” Leila explained while Tavia nodded her head as her mouth formed an ‘O’.

“I’ll go first!” Bernice voluntarily raised her hand. Ron handed her the bottle, Bernice began to spin the bottle. 9 pairs of eyes were concentrated on the empty bottle, waiting for it to stop and point at the first target. The bottle began to slow down and ended up pointing at Linda. “LINDA, OUR LUCKY NUMBER 1! Truth or dare?”

Linda hesitated before answering, “I’ll go with...truth.”

“Aww, I was hoping you’d choose dare.” Bernice cried, a frown on her face. “Anyway, I need a question...hmm...OH! I know! Who was your first kiss?”

“HEY! What kind of question is that?” Kenneth asked in an irritated voice, he was not a bit interested in these topics for girls.

“It’s a question concerning us–girls–NOT YOU!” Bernice rebutted, sticking her tongue out at him.

“So who was your first kiss?” Ella smiled, nudging Linda who was sitting beside her to the left.

“Can I pass?” a shade of red was already present on Linda’s cheek. Surely, she wasn’t going to say his name when he’s present as well. They would poke fun at her after that.

“Of course not! So who is it?” Leila strongly disagreed.

“You girls are making her blush!” Bosco pointed out, thus causing Linda to redden even more.
Ron heaved a sighed, “Girls...” Tavia heard this and pinched Ron on the side for insulting her specie. “Ouch! Ouch! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

Bernice noticed that Linda looked extremely uncomfortable saying his name and she kept glancing towards Raymond’s direction. Bernice smiled mischievously, “Alright, alright; how about, WHERE was your first kiss?”

“BERNICEEE!” Leila, Tavia, and Ella all cried out in dismay.

Linda silently exhale with relief, “Uhhm...the park.”

Instantly, a bunch of questions started to spill out.

“THE PARK?”
“What did you do?”
“Was it romantic?”
“Who was the first to make the move?”
“Who was it with?”
“How old were you?”

Linda looked from Tavia to Ella to Leila and back to Bernice again; they were all asking her questions at once, it was impossible to answer all at once. She stole a glance at Raymond who looked annoyed slash nervous.

“My turn is already over, we should move on!” she said, trying to change the topic. Smiling, she took the bottle and spun it. This time it ended up pointing towards Bosco.

Before she could even ask him ‘truth or dare’, he had already answered, “I pick dare.”

“YES!” Bernice shouted, pumping her fists in the air.

“Finally! It’s time for some fun!” Kenneth agreed.

“Dare? Help me think of one.” replied Linda, looking at Bernice; trust her to come up with a good dare.
“I dare you to do my laundry for a month.” Ron chirped in with a sly smile on his face. Bosco gave him a disgusted look before turning away.

“If I were to do your laundry for a month, I’d end up in the hospital.” he joked, only to receive a punch from Ron.

“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with me.”

“There is! It stinks, especially his socks which he doesn’t wash for a month.” Tavia exclaimed, pinching her nose to show how stinky his socks were.

“Eww!” the girls cried, pinching their noses as well.

“You girls just don’t understand what ‘man-stink’ is! Guys must have it, you too, Bosco.” cried Kenneth, stepping in to defend Ron.

“Yeah!” Ron couldn’t agree more. Bosco and Raymond shook their head, but was silently laughing inside. As for the girls, well–they were being girls.

[ 3 hours of laughter, nonsense, and truth or dare later. ]

“Wow, it’s already 12 AM.” Ella exclaimed, staring at the clock that was hung on the wall. A yawn manage to escape from her lips. “Ahh~so tired, I’m off to bed.”

“Me too.” Leila yawned, stretching her limbs. She could barely keep her eyes open. “Bosco, help me up the stairs.” she demanded in a tired voice, gesturing him to come over and piggyback her upstairs.

“Lei, but I’m tired too.” Bosco groaned yet he still allowed her to get on his back.

“Thanks.” she mumbled, immediately dozing off on his back.

‘How cute.’ he thought, his cheek turned a light pink.

“NO! NO! Don’t! WAIT! AH! Stop, stop!” Ron cried loudly as if he was in danger, when in fact, he was helping Bernice to stand on her own two feet. Honestly speaking, she reeked of alcohol, so was Kenneth. You might’ve guess what had happened, it was another one of their ‘battle’. This time involved alcohol. Kenneth had challenged Bernice to a battle of alcohol–it was to see who had the higher tolerance for alcohol. Unfortunately, their ‘battle’ always ended up hurting the others mentally or physically. Ella and Linda was trying their best to get Kenneth back up to his room whilst Ron was helping Bernice.”Man, you guys are always fighting. It only makes us miserable.” Ron muttered under his breath; he continued to mutter incoherent things as he began to carry Bernice upstairs to her room.

On the other hand, while Ron was dealing with Bernice, Tavia was sleeping soundlessly on the couch. In the midst of the battle, Tavia had gotten bored, sleepy, and tired that she had fallen asleep on the couch.

Raymond was about to follow Ron back upstairs to his own room, but was stopped by Ron.

“Oh yeah, could you give me a hand and help Tavia back to her room? I’m kind of busy.” he stated, looking at Bernice. Not bothering to listen to Raymond’s protest, Ron made his way upstairs with the drunk Bernice on his back.

Dejected, Raymond walked towards Tavia. “Hey! Hey! Wake-up! HEY!” To his dismay, she remained unmoved. He poked her lightly on the arms, hoping that she’d wake up.

Tavia stirred, letting out a grumble. “Stop it, Ron. Let me sleep.” she turned away from him.

Raymond stood staring at her, frustrated.

“WAKE UP.” Raymond shouted in a boisterous voice, attempting to wake Tavia up for the last time. If she wasn’t going to wake up and walk upstairs herself, then she can sleep here all night if she wanted to. No way in hell was he going to carry her upstairs.

Startled by the loud voice, Tavia immediately woke up, believing that the voice belongs to none other than Ron. “RON! I TOLD YOU TO GO AWAY!” she yelled, furious at ‘Ron’ for waking her up from a sweet dream.

Opening her eyes, she glared at the person standing in front of her. Only then did she realize that it was not Ron, but Raymond instead.

‘Uh-oh.’ was the only thing she could think of at that moment.

Raymond lowered his head, a few inches away from hers. “What did you say?” He didn’t look so happy either–staring into his eyes, it sent a chill down her spine.

“RON! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” Tavia screamed the only thing she could think of, running off before you could even count to 3.

‘Stupid girl.’
