Chapter 17

- - scary promises

Heewon and Jaejoong walked around the river seeing the ice just starting to melt from the water’s surface. Jaejoong was starting to get used to Heewon’s presence, but he still was a bit upset about Miyeon not being there instead. If Miyeon had come instead, things would be way different. They would’ve had more things to talk about. Instead, Jaejoong was now walking in silence which was starting to become uncomfortable. Heewon had said that she would help Jaejoong to get Miyeon to like him; but, he had no idea how that would be done. He himself had been trying since he knew her and nothing was working. He just had to hope that Heewon would have a strong influence on Miyeon.

Heewon cleared her throat and Jaejoong glanced down at her. They stopped walking and Heewon looked up at Jaejoong. “If we are going to do this, you have to promise me one thing,” Heewon said with a serious tone. Jaejoong nodded unsure. “You have to promise, to do everything I say. If you don’t that, this can’t work out. Don’t defy me, even if the idea might sound bad. In the end, I truly decide if you end up with her or not.”

Jaejoong shifted from one foot to the other starting to feel uneasy. “But, what if I don’t do everything? What are you going to do about that?” he asked.

Heewon smirked and then started to walk away from him. “That is simple. I will tell Miyeon everything. I might even make it so that she hates you,” Heewon turned around to see Jaejoong’s shocked eyes. “Exactly; so do everything I say and I’ll make sure the ending of this story is pretty and lovely.”

She turned around again and Jaejoong followed her reluctantly, a thousand thoughts now swarming through his mind. He bit his lip as he saw Heewon heading near the road side and waving over a taxi. This girl can really determine what happens between Miyeon and I, Jaejoong thought. Heewon got a taxi and then started to step inside.

“Jaejoong-ah,” Heewon called. Jaejoong got out of his thoughts and raised an eyebrow. “I’ll text you later. Remember, we can do this,” Heewon reminded. She tried to flash him a sweet smile before she closed the door. He smiled slightly back and then closed the door for her. He waved as the taxi pulled away from the curve.

Maybe she isn’t so bad, I mean, she is helping me with Miyeon, Jaejoong thought as he started to walk away from the spot. Heewon looked back and smirked. Jaejoong was like putty now. She just had to mould the situation however she wanted and it would be a masterpiece in her eyes. She pumped her fist in the air and cackled a bit. The driver looked at her and cringed. Not this crazy lady again, he thought sadly. He stayed closer to his steering wheel and tried not to look back for any reasons.

Jaejoong had loved looking at the river as the ice melted from its tops so he decided to stay a little while more. He stopped and sat near the river. He felt the wind playing in his hair and the sounds of people talking in all directions behind him. Jaejoong started to daydream and think about the night before. It had been so pleasant for him. Star-gazing...

“Jaejoong-sshi?”

The beautiful sunrise…

“Jaejoong-sshi?”

Sharing a blanket with Miyeon…

“Jaejoong-ah!” Jaejoong snapped out of his thoughts and finally turned around. He saw Miyeon’s little sister Dawn towering over him. She was still wearing her school uniform and had her backpack with her.

He stood up and wiped the dirt off his butt. “Dawn-M, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in school or something?”

Dawn-M shook her head. “No, school just ended so I felt like taking a walk. My school is near here anyways,” she explained. The atmosphere got awkward and then Dawn-M piped up, “So, what were you doing here with Heewon?”

Remembering that Dawn-M knew Heewon he answered her question, “I was just having a chat with her. You know friendly stuff.”

Dawn-M snarled in her head. Heewon was getting to Jaejoong too? Whenever Heewon was involved, it wasn’t good, that is what Dawn-M learned. Dawn-M decided to have a little discussion with Dawn-J about this. “Do you mind if I visit Dawn-J today?”

Jaejoong shrugged, “I don’t see why not. She has been feeling better since you slept over last time. I bet she’ll feel delighted. Come on, I’ll give you a ride,” he said taking out his keys. Dawn-M nodded and followed as Jaejoong started to head to his car.

“Is this Heewon really that bad?” Dawn-J asked as Dawn-M sat beside her on Dawn-J’s bed.

“Definitely. I mean, she makes my sister do so much and like doesn’t even appreciate it. Heewon just has this thing about her that spells evil. I don’t know how Miyeon became friends with her really,” Dawn-M explained. Dawn-J nodded and laid her head on her fist.

After awhile of thinking, Dawn-M sat up straight. “What if she tried to interfere with Jaejoong and Miyeon-unnie’s relationship?” Dawn-J bit her lip. If this Heewon was that bad, it could be a possibility, Dawn-J considered.

“Well, what can we do? I mean, we can’t prove anything. So far, Heewon hasn’t really done anything to them. It’s not really fair to just point fingers at her,” Dawn-J put out.

Dawn-M shook her head. “She is up to no good. I mean, when I was walking I saw her in her taxi and like, she was cackling. Like, who cackles? No one I know, that’s for sure.” Dawn-M tried to impersonate Heewon’s cackle, but then failed in her attempt. Dawn-J started to crack up and then coughed. She started to have a coughing fit and Dawn-M tried to pat her back to calm her down.

Jaejoong instantly came through the door and started to try and calm her down too. Dawn-J calmed down after a minute or two and then tried to clear her throat. She held up her hand weakly and tried to smile, “I’m fine Jaejoong-oppa. I just laughed too hard and--,”

A beep was heard and Jaejoong reached for his phone. He flipped it open and saw that Heewon had texted him. Jaejoong looked up at both Dawn’s who were staring at him curiously. He smiled shyly and then waved the phone a little. “I just got a text from Heewon. She wants to talk about stuff again,” both Dawn’s exchanged glances and then looked back at him, “Dawn, since you’re okay now, I’ll go. Dawn-M, just tell me when you want to go home and I’ll drive you home.” With that, he left the room. Both Dawn’s heard him saying hello to Heewon and it bothered them greatly.

Dawn-J nudged Dawn-M lightly, “We need to get Miyeon-sshi and Jaejoong-oppa together and in love quick.” Dawn-M nodded seriously. Or else Miyeon-unnie will be heartbroken, she thought sadly.
