Chapter 20

- - now together

Jaejoong’s mind was honestly scrambled. He didn’t know what to think of the situation or how to react. Not knowing what to do, he left that gelato shop immediately. As he left, he could feel Miyeon’s ‘boyfriend’ staring at the back of his head intensely. Also, he sensed Heewon following behind him in a quick manner. Jaejoong went to the streets and walked about five blocks before he finally stopped and found a bench to sit on. He sat feeling over-whelmed and confused. What just happened, he thought.

Heewon sat closely to him on the bench and put a ‘comforting’ hand on his shoulder. “Jaejoong-sshi, I don’t know what to think either. This isn’t very Miyeon like,” she said trying not to smile at Jaejoong’s state.

Changmin had honestly done so well, that she would probably treat him later. Also, Miyeon being the person she was just played her part better than Heewon expected. A kiss? She didn’t expect that, but it was excellent. Now, she had to initiate the next step of her plan.

She rubbed his shoulder lightly and sighed. “It hurts doesn’t it? I mean, I know that you and her were starting to make chemistry. This boyfriend honestly just came out of nowhere, it’s too shocking. Just take your time Jaejoong-sshi.”

Jaejoong shook his head and then bit his lip. “I just don’t get it. Why would she lead me on like that? I confessed to her already and now she tells me that she has a boyfriend! This is just so... frustrating,” he groaned the last word and put his head in his hands. This must’ve been a prank right? How could anyone play with feelings in this way? Miyeon wasn’t that type of person.

He lifted his head in realization. Miyeon wasn’t that person. There had to be some mistake. Heewon seeing his head was up and he was grinning, furrowed her eyebrows.
“What is it Jaejoong?”

“Miyeon isn’t that type of person. She would never hurt me like this. I will always forgive her no matter what the situation is,” Jaejoong turned to face a slightly annoyed Heewon, “I like her too much to say I will never forgive her.”

Heewon flinched and took her hand off Jaejoong’s shoulder trying to calm herself. She didn’t want Jaejoong to react that way. She wanted the exact opposite!

Heewon tried to smile so that Jaejoong would think she was happy for him. But, the emotion was just not coming out. Instead, she could feel hate rays shooting out of her eyes. Jaejoong was still off in his happy fantasy where Miyeon and he were together so Heewon had a bit of time to recalculate everything.

She tried to map out all possibilities that could come out of the situation. Heewon looked at every possible scheme that was possible and then finally found one that satisfied her wants. If Heewon was to take over the world, no one would stand a chance.

Heewon shifted towards Jaejoong and tapped him lightly on the shoulder. Jaejoong who was still in la-la land turned happily. Heewon leaned back a bit at the sight of his happiness and then shook her head. I can’t believe I’m about to do this, Heewon shivered in her mind. She calmed herself and took the dive.

“Jaejoong-sshi, what do you think of jealousy?” Heewon said bluntly. Jaejoong snapped out of his happy trance and stared at her oddly.

“I think jealousy is just not necessary. Sure, everyone has it from time-to-time, but, honestly, it’s just not a good thing. I don’t like being jealous, so yeah,” Jaejoong concluded. He scratched the back of his head and then put his hand down.

“But, why do you ask about jealousy?”

Heewon smirked at him, which made Jaejoong a little tense. She wiggled her finger and told him to come closer, so that she could whisper something in his ear. Jaejoong carefully leaned in and felt a shiver go down his back as he felt Heewon’s breath on his skin.

“From this day on, you and I are together.”

Jaejoong widened his eyes and jumped to the other side of the bench. He placed his hand over his mouth slightly looking overly-shocked. “If you do not remember, I really, really, really like Miyeon. I’m not sure you got that, really, really, really, --,”

“Yes, I got that Jaejoong!” Heewon snapped at him. She started to glare, but then calmed herself. She gave Jaejoong a look and then patted the empty space where he once was. Jaejoong shook his head, but Heewon patted harder. Pouting, Jaejoong moved to his former position.

“Good boy, now let me explain what I just said,” Heewon glanced over at Jaejoong and then continued.

“I obviously know that you really like Miyeon. I’m the one who is trying to set you up with her; I’m not dumb Jaejoong. Anyways, I don’t want you as my boyfriend; no offense. The only reason I’m doing this is to get Miyeon jealous.

“She is starting to like you, that’s evident. I think that she just needs that push to tell her senses that she has feelings for you. That push I believe should be jealousy. We just need to convince her that we are together so that her feelings start to react. But, we really need to be convincing. I’m doing this for her benefit and yours,” Heewon finished. As she spoke, her plan became more detailed in her head and she loved it. She turned towards Jaejoong who was looking unconvinced.

“But, Miyeon… She… Is this the only way to do this?” he asked worried. Heewon rolled her brown eyes at him and shook her head in disbelief.

“Do you seriously doubt me? Jaejoong, have more faith in me. I wouldn’t tell you this plan unless I thought it would work.”

Jaejoong was about to open his mouth again, but Heewon put a finger to her lip to silence him. “Just let me take care of her. I’ll try and simulate her feelings as well. Everything will pan out in the end Jaejoong-ah.”

Jaejoong still felt worried about Heewon’s plan. He really didn’t like the use of jealousy. It might make him seem fake as well. But what other choice did he have? He just had to go along with it and bare with it to get the girl of his dreams. “Fine, I’ll do it,” he whispered quietly looking away from Heewon.

Heewon smirked and laughed evilly inside. Everything would be superb. Turning towards Jaejoong, Heewon started to give more detail about actions that they would do and such. Jaejoong listened attentively and nodded every now and then.

“I can’t believe Heewon,” Dawn-M snarled as she looked through her pair of binoculars. Her and Dawn-J had decided to tail the two to see if anything diabolical would happen. To their expectations, something evil was rising in front of them. They hid near enough to them that they heard the whole conversation, expect for the first whisper. Dawn-M passed the binoculars to Dawn-J who was still in a bit of a shock at the events.

Dawn-J put the binoculars to her eyes and peered into them. She observed Heewon closely who was occasionally touching her brother. Jaejoong-oppa, how could you fall for her plan, Dawn-J worried in her head.

She had snuck out to see what Heewon was up to and now, she wished she would’ve stayed in bed. Her brother was being treated like a child with no brain, it wasn’t fair. She felt a frown on her face for her brother and wanted it to go away. Dawn-J put down the binoculars and looked towards Dawn-M.

“We have to tell Miyeon what Heewon is up to. She could really get hurt if we don’t.”

Dawn-M shook her head, “Not yet. We need more evidence first. My sister thinks that Heewon is the greatest and it’ll take a lot of persuading. My sister can be so thick-headed sometimes.”

Dawn-J coughed and shook her head in disagreement. “We need to tell her Dawn-M. Even though you think that, we can always try. I can’t let this slip. I’ve watched enough dramas in the hospital and at home, to know that it won’t end that well. Can we please try?”

Dawn-M sighed. “Okay, we can try. I guess it is better to warn her now before anything actually happens. Let’s go.” They turned away from Heewon and Jaejoong and went on their two person pink bicycle. Dawn-M was in the front pedalling and Dawn-J in the back basically pedalling whenever she had energy.

They pedaled to the gelato shop from before and stopped just outside to park their bike. When they were about to go inside, they saw Miyeon inside looking devastated. She was sitting at a table with an unfamiliar handsome tall guy and was eating her gelato without enthusiasm. Suddenly, as Dawn-J observed Miyeon, she saw one tear roll silently down her cheek and into the almost-done gelato.
