Chapter 27

- - much more

The next day when Dawn-J was discharged from the hospital, Jaejoong and Miyeon agreed to go on their first official date as a couple. The two Dawn’s had decided to stay back at Jaejoong’s house for a sleepover and whatnot. It was Miyeon and Jaejoong’s first time to really have a day to themselves and not have any hidden intentions behind it.

As Jaejoong started to drive around, Miyeon asked him something. “Jaejoong-ah, can we go to my work first? I need to speak with Heewon.”

Jaejoong furrowed his eyebrows as he kept his eyes on the road. “Alright, but why do you want to see her?”

“I just need to. There is something that we have to clear up between the two of us,” she said and then shrugged.

Sighing, Jaejoong turned at a corner towards Miyeon’s work and got there within a few minutes. Once there, they both went inside to find it with only a few people inside enjoying themselves, as usual. Jaejoong sat at the table that he first sat at when he first entered into the shop. Thinking back, he grinned to himself. It feels like so long ago that that happened.

Miyeon walked up to the counter seeing the manager handling everything. Miyeon titled her head in confusion. Manager never works with Heewon or I, she thought. The manager looked up at Miyeon as she approached and smiled. “Are you going to save me from being lonely today Miyeon?”

Miyeon shook her head politely and then tried to peer into the back. “Where is Heewon? She is supposed to be working today actually. She is the one who should be keeping you company.”

The manager sighed and then wiped her hands on her apron. “Heewon quit yesterday Miyeon. She isn’t coming back here. I have lost all contact with her, all I know is that she is moving somewhere to somewhere in the States.”

“Wh…wh…what?” Miyeon stuttered. The manager shrugged and sighed once again.

“It’s too bad. She was a good worker after all. Heewon said something about starting anew there and hoping to change into a person with a different heart; whatever that means.”

Miyeon nodded and then waved goodbye to her manager. She turned around and walked towards Jaejoong. Seeing her coming, Jaejoong got up and saw that Miyeon looked distracted by her thoughts. He led her outside and into the car, then he finally asked her. “What’s the matter?” he asked as he started to drive to their next destination.

Miyeon shook her head and then looked out her window. Jaejoong grinned and then grabbed her hand which was on the arm rest. Miyeon turned her head to face him, surprised at his sudden action. Jaejoong smiled and then caressed her hand softly. “Whatever is troubling you, don’t stress it okay? I’m sure things will get better. Everything happens for a reason.”

Feeling the warmth and truth of his words, Miyeon held Jaejoong’s hand tighter and mouthed a ‘thank you’. She didn’t look out the window anymore, she just stared at Jaejoong who was happy and was beside her, just like he wanted. He noticed her staring and quickly glanced at her from the corner of his eye. “Can’t take your lovely eyes off me?”

Miyeon giggled and then stuck her tongue out slightly at him. “I’m sorry, but you are the most interesting thing around right now Jaejoong-ah,” she laughed. Jaejoong chuckled.

“I beg to differ; I think you’re pretty amazing.”

Miyeon felt herself blush and she bit her lip. I’m glad I gave into my feelings, she thought happily. It was definitely worth it. She looked out the window again and saw that they were on a beach. Jaejoong parked the car and then let go of Miyeon’s hand. Quickly, she unfastened her seatbelt and then saw Jaejoong opening the door for her. She nodded at him and then got out of the car.

As she looked out at the horizon, she saw that the beach was empty except for them. It was silent but peaceful at the same time. Feeling a smile on her face, she started to run down the beach near the waves. The wind passed by her hair joyfully as she ran towards the water. She looked back at Jaejoong when she felt the water tickling her feet a little. He walked calmly towards her with a big smile on his face. Miyeon smiled widely and then tossed her hands in the air. “This is the best!” she yelled into the sea.

Beside her, she could hear Jaejoong chuckling. When she looked at him, he looked so calm and handsome in the rays of the sun. She turned fully to him and poked him lightly on the arm. He looked down at her. “Do you like this Miyeon-ah?” he asked.

Miyeon laughed and then nodded enthusiastically. Jaejoong feeling butterflies in his stomach randomly picked Miyeon up bridal style and then swung her around. Miyeon laughed as she wrapped her arms around Jaejoong’s neck. Both of them felt so happy being there together finally.

Jaejoong carried her bit further done the shoreline, set her down and then plopped himself beside her. He puffed his cheeks and then glanced at her. “You’re a bit heavy,” he said jokingly. Miyeon pushed him lightly.

“No one told you to carry me and that’s mean,” she replied giggling a bit.

“Well, no matter if you were super heavy, I’d still carry you like you were a feather because you deserve to feel happiness like that if you wanted it,” Jaejoong said staring into Miyeon’s eyes deeply. Miyeon looked into his eyes deeply as well and then looked away. She rested her head between her knees and looked at the crashing waves near the rocks.

“Jaejoong-ah, do you really like me that much?” she wondered. She lifted her head and then looked over to Jaejoong who was still looking at her with caring eyes. Jaejoong shook his head and then leaned back on his palms a bit.

“I don’t like you that much,” he said. Miyeon felt a bit hurt and then saw Jaejoong smirk. He reached behind Miyeon and hugged her, which made her fall a bit onto his shoulder. Miyeon looked up at him in confusion. “I love you much more than that,” Jaejoong said looking down at Miyeon. Miyeon suddenly felt the cold breeze hit her and then shivered as she was locked into Jaejoong’s eyes again.

“Do you love me so much that no amount of hate in this world would overcome your feelings?” Miyeon asked. She felt Jaejoong’s fingers lacing with her own and she squeezed his hand. Suddenly, the cold breeze didn’t feel so cold, the wind around them wasn’t so loud and the person in front of them was the only thing they could see.

“So much more than that,” he whispered and then lifted Miyeon’s chin. Expecting him to kiss her forehead, she closed her eyes, but then felt him lay his lips softly onto hers. She felt a warm glow fill her and then kissed him back slightly before parting their lips. As they separated, they kept their foreheads touching, which made both their hearts beat wildly.

“Thanks for loving me despite everything Jaejoong-ah,” Miyeon whispered as she saw the twinkle in Jaejoong’s eyes.

Jaejoong smirked. “No, I should be thanking you. Thanking you for hating me at first and then making my feelings develop more; thanking you for making my heartbeat. Thank you Miyeon, for being that one indescribable person in my life.”
