“That wasn’t such a good idea was it?” Jaejoong chuckled. Miyeon laid down comfortably again and shook her head lightly.
“You can leave tomorrow morning if you’d like and I could drive you. It’s already nine o’clock at night. It’s not safe for you and your sister to go out on the streets now. Just rest here for the night; I don’t think your sister minds. And Dawn and I certainly don’t mind, so it’s fine. Just get some sleep and you can leave tomorrow.” Jaejoong offered.
Miyeon looked at him with one eye considering the offer. It was already late out and she did feel really dizzy. But, she didn’t want to stay here, it could mess things up with her plan. “You promise I can leave tomorrow?”
Jaejoong held out his pinkie and held it towards her. Miyeon rolled her eyes amused and pinkie- swore him back. They shook their pinkies and let go. Jaejoong tucked her in the blanket more and watched her close her eyes. He turned his back and started to walk out of the room. Just as he was about to turn off the lights, he looked back at her wanting to say something.
“Miyeon, you can –” He started and then heard her breathing peacefully as she slept. She must’ve been really tired to fall asleep once I was done talking, he thought. He admired her for a little longer. She looked just dazzling to him. His admiration was cut short though because he heard a cough from behind him.
“What are you doing oppa?” Dawn-J asked him curiously tilting her head to the side. He quickly flicked off the lights in his room and closed the door.
“Nothing, just turning off the lights in the room is all.” He said trying to act innocent. Dawn-J crossed her arms and smiled at her love-struck brother. He cannot act at all, she thought.
Jaejoong stop trying to look innocent and snapped his fingers. “Oh right, Dawn and Miyeon are sleeping here tonight, so do you mind if Dawn shares a bed with you?”
Dawn-J smiled widely. “Of course not! That’s awesome, my first sleepover with someone!” Dawn-J put her hands together in glee, but then looked at her brother.
“But oppa, how about you? Where are you supposed to sleep?” She paused for a moment. Then she flickered her eyes in a devious way at him. “You aren’t planning to sneak into your room and sleep beside Miyeon-sshi, right?”
Jaejoong felt his face heat up and put his hand over his mouth to cover his small smile. He glanced at Dawn-J who was lifting her eyebrows up and down in curiosity.
“Do not think of such inappropriate things Dawn! Now go to sleep and get the blankets from your closet. Good night.” He said pushing his sister playfully towards her room.
“Oppa, who said I was thinking of inappropriate things? I just simply said you were going to sleep beside her. What were you thinking oppa?” Dawn-J said opening the door to her room. Jaejoong felt red again. But, before he could answer, Dawn-J closed her door and already said good night.
Jaejoong scratched the back of his head in embarrassment and then looked at his bedroom door down the hall. He grinned to himself and then turned towards the closet to grab a blanket. I guess it’s the couch for me tonight, he thought silently to himself.
***********
Miyeon and Dawn-M bowed towards Jaejoong and Dawn-J. “Thank you for letting us spend the night.” They said is unison.
“No problem. You should let us make you breakfast though. And you should really let me drive you” Jaejoong proposed not wanting Miyeon to go yet. Miyeon shook her head.
“You’ve already done too much for us.”
Dawn-J stepped up towards Dawn-M and gave her a light hug. Then she whispered into her ear, “I’ll call you about the plans soon okay.” They let go of each other and winked. “’Bye Dawn-M. I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Dawn-M?” Miyeon asked confused towards the two Dawn’s.
The two Dawn’s smiled. “Just know that I am Dawn-M and she is Dawn-J. It is less confusing this way when we are together.” Dawn-M explained. Jaejoong and Miyeon gave each other a look meaning ‘little sisters’ and grinned.
Not wanting to stay in the presence of her experiment any longer, she waved goodbye and opened the door. “Thanks again for everything!” She yelled softly while she was already out the door. Jaejoong tried to get Miyeon’s attention by waving furiously but failed because she already turned her back. He sighed at his failed attempt and closed the door.
“Oppa, don’t wave so hard. You might break your hand.” Dawn-J teased and then ran upstairs.
Jaejoong rolled his eyes and then peered out the window watching the two sisters walking home. Miyeon, take care, he thought and then walked away from the window.
*********
Once Miyeon and Dawn were at home, Miyeon prepared breakfast for Dawn quickly. As Dawn ate, she stared at her sister. “Aren’t you going to eat unnie?” Dawn asked sadly. She didn’t want Miyeon to faint again while she wasn’t around. She had to be thinking of her health more. Miyeon was going to become a constant worry for Dawn.
“No, I have to get ready for work now.” Miyeon replied already making her way upstairs. Dawn frowned and looked at her breakfast losing her appetite. She shouldn’t have to work so hard. I really need to get her together with Jaejoong soon, she thought.
Miyeon could feel her stomach growling upstairs. She patted her tummy and frowned. “I’ll feed you later.” She whispered to her stomach. She quickly took a shower, dried herself, and got ready while her stomach was struggling against her. Miyeon tried to not think of food while getting ready, but the breakfast she made earlier was haunting her mind. Don’t do this to me stomach, she groaned in her head.
Miyeon ran downstairs ready for work and swung by the living room seeing her sister parked in front of the television. “I’ll be back in five hours or so today. Leave the dishes and call me if you need anything alright?” Dawn raised her hand slightly not wanting to face her tired sister. She didn’t have the strength her sister who was working so much just to provide for the two of them. Miyeon nodded at Dawn and left out the door not looking back to see that Dawn had let a silent tear roll down her cheek.
Miyeon decided to run to work to get food out of her mind. But that wasn’t the best idea considering all the energy she used made her want food more. At the shop, she grabbed her stomach and hit it slightly.
Heewon glanced at her oddly while drying a coffee cup. “Wow, sweaty much? How do you get that sweaty when it is like the middle of winter?”
Miyeon shrugged and smiled sweetly at her best friend. “Good morning to you too.”
Heewon finished drying the cup and wondered if she should have mentioned that she was left behind the day before and hit in the face with a snowball. She decided against it. Instead she focused on something else. “Miyeon-ah, how are things with Jaejoong going? You two seemed pretty close yesterday when you were looking for Dawn. Whom, I hope you found.”
Miyeon put up her coat and sat down at a table since there were no customers yet. “I did find Dawn. Well, Jaejoong found Dawn, but that isn’t the point. We aren’t close. I just happened to get caught in the moment of finding Dawn is all. I know that I have to make this experiment a success Heewon.”
Heewon smirked. At least she still has that in mind, she thought. Heewon decided to motivate Miyeon a bit. “Well, to me, it seems like you are getting closer and closer. Don’t you think you might get attached to him instead of being able to make him hate you? I mean, from what I saw, it didn’t seem like he was anywhere near hating you.” Miyeon considered this for a moment. That was true, Jaejoong definitely did not hate Miyeon; and that was not good at all.
Miyeon looked up at Heewon for guidance.“What could I do?”
Heewon took out her notepad from her pocket and ripped out a piece of paper and also gave her a pen. “I suggest making a list of stuff. It may help.” Heewon set it down in front of her and left to go to the back of the shop to think of ways to make him hate her as well.
Miyeon took the pen, took the blue cap off and set it aside. She tapped the pen against the paper a few times wondering what to do. Then she sighed. What would make him tick? Being annoying is my best bet right now, she thought. She started to write down all her ideas and in half an hour, she had quite a few.
Heewon came back to check on her. “How’s it going?”
Miyeon smiled and waved it around a bit. Heewon held her hand out signalling Miyeon to read it. Miyeon cleared her throat and began to read.
“Miyeon’s Schemes: 1. Diss him and be really mean in front of him. 2. Be sarcastic and uncaring. 3. Walk off whenever he starts to talk. 4. Diss his clothes. 5. Be super annoying.” Miyeon looked up at Heewon for approval.
Heewon smirked and patted Miyeon’s back. “It could use a bit of work, but that’s what I’m here for.”
