Chapter 34

Company

She squinted as Michelle stepped on a loose floorboard, creaking it. She turned to find Ron and Bosco by the main entrance, where they were heading. They stopped tiptoeing and walked up to them.

¡§What are you two doing here?¡¨ Leila asked.

¡§Nothing, just making sure you two don't leave without us.¡¨ Ron said, still confused why they would sneak away.

Bosco was nearly sure they would leave without word. He knew Leila wouldn't want to do the explaining. Therefore, he gathered Ron and got ready to greet them, everything went like he expected.
Leila gave a deadening look at Bosco, thinking he let slip her identity.

¡§I told Ron that you two have to leave early due to home problems, nothing else.¡¨ Bosco whispered to Leila, out of Ron's earshot.

Michelle spoke up, reminding Leila what she was doing. ¡§We better leave now, that way we could arrive at ¡¥Leung Chow¡¦ before sunset.¡¨

¡§I'll take those luggages for you.¡¨ Bosco offered, hoping to sooth Leila's anger. Even though she didn't show it on her face, Bosco knew she was angry that they had caught them.

Leila slid her luggage off her shoulder and handed it over to Bosco, who was surprised that the luggage was as heavy as it was.

¡§Gosh! What have you got in here? It's sooooo heavy.¡¨ Bosco complained.

¡§Hey! You offered to help me carry it, now no matter how heavy it is you still have to carry it. So stop complaining.¡¨ Leila said. She had to take her medicine as well as her daily clothing.

Ron watched as they bickered on, wondering how he should confess.

Tavia paced the room from corner to corner until she was tired out. It had been hours since Raymond left for some unspoken reason. She knew how silly she was, to worry over someone who had lived there all his life. But thoughts of terrible things kept coming out of nowhere after the nightmare she had during the short sleep when they arrived.

The thing was, she couldn't remember what her dream was, only that it was something bad and it ended with a splatter of blood.

¡§I'm back!¡¨ Raymond appeared by the doorway looking exhausted.

Immediately, Tavia ran up to him and embraced him in a hug.

Even though Raymond was surprised by her act, he was glad she was still there, and that meeting her was not just a dream. His hand soothed the back of her head whilst his other shooed the maids off to their duties.

He pulled Tavia away from him carefully and asked in a concerned tone. ¡§What's wrong?¡¨

Tavia wanted to say everything that puzzled her mind, but she couldn't. ¡§Nothing. I'm just glad you're back.¡¨

¡§Anyway. I want you to know that no matter what I'm always there for you. You needn't to worry.¡¨ It was like he knew what she thought-Her thought that she would loose him.

She looked into his eyes and found the comfort she had lost. ¡§I love you.¡¨ She whispered into his ear.

¡§I love you too.¡¨ Raymond said holding her chin up and planting a soft kiss on her angelic lips.

After walking for four hours, they came across a small noodle stall just outside the country. They sat down and ordered a bowl of noodles each. Whilst they ate, Sammuel came to join them.

"I've just arranged everything for tonight. We'll stay at an Inn called, 'Leung Chow Lauw' in the centre of'Leung Chow'." Sammuel had left earlier to arrange everything for them. "But since I didn't know these two are really coming, I've only booked two bedrooms."

"No problem, we'll sleep on the floor in your room." Bosco said to Sammuel.

"That is, if it doesn't bother you." Ron added.

"Sure. Not like like i'm taking you two seriously anyway." Sammuel said in his usual cold voice.

"Hey, isn't it a bit weird for a person to be sitting here having noodles at this hour all by themselvs?" Leila suddenly asked, pointing to the person behind them.

It was only when Leila mentioned it that they realised.

Sammuel stood up clutching his sword tightly. "I'll check it out." With that he stroad towards the person.

But before he made any sudden moves. The person stood up and lifted her hood to reveal her face.

"Alright ,alright. I didn't know you would get so worked up from me being here." Nancy said, thinking they didn't want her to be there.

"Nancy!?" They all said in surprise.

"What are you doing here? Does Si fu know you're here?" Bosco asked.

"Of course not. If he knew, he wouldn't let me come. He'll say it's too dangerous and stuff.Anyway. I saw you four at the main door, so i grabbed my stuff and followed. So, where are you heading? Can I tag along?" Nancy asked like she was on a vacation.

"Well, it's not like we can say no, can we?" Leila said, welcoming Nancy.

The city was filled with laughter and talk, that was until they came. A group of unknown soldiers came roaming into the city, weapon in hand and started killing anyone in sight.

Children, seniors, babies... nobody was left untouched. Nobody but one little girl.

After seeing the soldiers, a very protective old woman hid her seven year old granddaughter into a cellar under the house that was used for food storage for the winter. This food storage cellar, saved the innocent girl. The poor granny however, wasn't so lucky.
