Show suddenly realised that Sam had not taken his eye off the counter once. On closer observation, he could see Sam staring @ hebe. at once, he became very uncomfortable as to what he is thinking. and the resemblance of Sam's look, was. fearfully close to that of a lecher. Show decided to keep it from Hebe, to avoid any awkardness between her and Sam.
Hebe : Show! theres a customer over there.
Hebe : so you would like a mocha?
Customer : Yes.
Hebe : that would be $5.50 please.
Customer : Here.
Hebe : SHOW! what are u thinking!
Show(shocked) : Sorry, what did u say?
Hebe(impatiently) : theres a customer over there and im busy doing this. mind if u help me?
her tones lightens as she spoke, as she never really chided anyone before.
Soon, it was knock-off time.
Everyone in unison : Tomorrow's Saturday!
Sam : Hebe, tomorrow are u free?
Hebe : Maybe. Why?
Sam : I would like to buy something, but yet have noone to accompany me. would u do me this favour?
Hebe(innocently) : I thi..
Show(forestalled Hebe and cut in) : tomorrow we got something on remember?
Hebe : Huh?
Show : We were supposed to go out with Sel,Ella,Jay and LH!
Hebe : Really?
Show : you very blur haha.
Hebe : ar.. sorry Sam.
Sam : Its ok. *glares at show
Show at the instance knew he was totally right. but as Sam did it while Hebe's back was turned, Hebe didnt know anything.
Show : Hebe! shall we go home together?
Hebe(beaming) : Sure! been some time since i went home with company.
Show : But wait! let me bring u somewhere first.
Hebe : Hmm, Ok. but i need to be back home by 10
it was only 7 then. as show brought Hebe to a coffee shop near her house.
Hebe : whats so special about this place? i've been eating here for 20 years.
Show : really? well, this place has got special meaning to me.
Hebe : Hmm, care to share?
Show(emotionally) : this was the place, where i got to know the first girl didnt look down on me. i was only 16 then. i was shunned by almost every one in the school. just because i was poor, i was branded the outcast of the school. until i met this girl. right here at this coffee shop. it was magical then. it was the first time i met this girl, and also my last. i can still remember,it was the last day of school, when after school, i came here for lunch. then this girl, from the same school as me, came over and sat beside me. i was shocked then. i can not express that feeling in words. this girl. took me out of my introversy world. she knew my state of wealth. but yet, she was the first and only friend i got to knew, truly. sadly, this girl have not reappeared since.
Hebe * stares blankly
a short pause.
Hebe : i think. i've done such a thing before.. what school were u from?
Show : Ahn's Secondary School.
Hebe(too shocked for words)
Show : dont tell me.
Hebe : ....
Show(happily) : at last! i found you! i've been waiting so long since that day to find you!
Hebe : i didnt know we share such a history! haha!
Show : must be fate that brought us together again!
Hebe : Yeah!
so they spent the whole night chatting,about hows life been. and the such. until it was about 10, show sent Hebe home.
[Hebe's house void deck]
Show : Bye!
Hebe : Bye! tomorrow what time we meeting them?
Show(lying) : 1000 at the MRT near our school.
Hebe : Ok cya tomorrow then!
Show then went forward and grabbed Hebe by the hand. As Hebe turned round, Show gave her a kiss on the cheek. instanteously he felt very embarassed. it was the first time Show had openly expressed his love for someone.
Hebe(stunned) : Show?
Show : ah.. Sorry!
he then turned and ran. too embarassed to even look back.
Hebe(POV) : does show like me? by the way hes acting i would guess so. should i accept him?
too many thoughts went through her mind, she decided to brush aside affairs of the heart, and brought the Almond Jelly Desert which she bought from the coffee shop for her parents who were particularly fond of Almond Jelly Desert.
[Hebe's house] - a humble 3 room flat.
Dad : Hello Hebe!
Hebe : Hi Dad, Hi Mom.
Mom : whos that guy?
Hebe : ? what guy?
Mom : dont lie! i saw u walking under our block with a guy.
Hebe(changing the topic) : here! almond jelly desert!
Mom : how long have u known him?
Hebe who didnt like to keep things from the ones she loved. and had always hated lying about some things, related the whole story to her Mom.
Mom : Wow congrats on finding your long lost friend!
Hebe who didnt know how to react, just smiled. but deep inside her, she was feeling very vexed. she was never interested in love. but now, there was someone chasing her, and yet. she didnt want to reject. so how would she go about it!
Hebe(suddenly screams) : AHHHHHHHHHh
Mom&Dad : ? whats wrong
Hebe : Nothing. very happy only.
Mom : haha! its always like this at first!
Hebe : oh yah, mom heres $150
Mom : how can i take ur pay from you?
Hebe : dont worry i know how hard you and dad is working, so just take it as a small gift of mine.
Mom(emotional) : Thanks
Yet unknown to her, was that Hebe had to scrimp the world week, surviving on basically bread she bought outside and water. it was $150/180 of that weeks pay. she spent the other $30 saving up for her school fees for the month, and $10 of the $30 for her daily meals.
Dad : poor girl, sorry we can not give u the best.
Hebe : Dad! how can u say something like that! the warmth u give me, is the best!
Mom(shedding a tear) : Hebe, we are so fortunate to have u as our daughter...
