Selina still stared at the book, unflinching, as if she was waiting for a reply, a explanation, yet she didn’t voice it out.
Hebe(sadly) : when I was younger, I couldn’t splurge on books like the more fortunate people of my age, hence, in order to actually study and qualify for school, I had to go to the library to study. When I was there, the library attendant actually noticed me, and on seeing that I didn’t have money to buy books, and knowing that I wanted to read the books for a longer time, he literally gave me all the books I wanted. In accordance to what he said, he said that I will be given a year long borrowing grant per book.
Selina(angrily) : You are still lying to me? Since when was there such a thing? Why are u so special? A year long borrowing guarantee.. indeed. *snorts
The look on Hebe’s face gave her away, she was visibly very hurt by Selina’s words and actions. She never expected the first person she would call a close friend, to doubt her like that. The feeling, was unbearable.
Selina wondered why Hebe suddenly kept quiet and turned around, for a brief moment, she thought she hit the spot, and Hebe had nothing to say. Pausing for a moment, she realized what she have just done. She had no reason to doubt what Hebe had said, and it wasn’t really much in her league to care. But yet, just because of a enigmatic reason, she just wanted to sound Hebe out, yet she didn’t believe. Apparently, she had caused grief and hurt to Hebe.
Selina as she taps Hebe on the shoulders, whispers
“ Hebe…”
there was no response, but Selina, could hear the faint sniffing, and the smell of tears. she realized the effect of her actions. Immediately she walked in front of Hebe, as Hebe tried to turn away from her, Selina did something instinctively, something she would never had planned to do, but she actually kissed Hebe on the cheek. Hebe was taken aback by this gesture and was filled with mixed feelings, as she struggled to rein all the feelings which was coursing through her mind and soul, Selina stepped forward, to embrace Hebe in a very comforting hug. Hebe stood there, hands hanging by her side, petrified as though a medusa had put her under a spell, unwilling to return the hug.
“sorry Hebe, I shouldn’t never have doubted you” Selina said with tears welling up in her own eyes

“Why… Why!” Hebe exclaims with raw grief
“I’m really so very sorry… I was so stupid to even have doubted you”
“Will you forgive me?”
Silence hung for a moment, as Hebe returned the embrace, in a most assuring way. Selina was at once comforted, looking for Hebe to say something, to ascertain that she was forgiven, and everything would resume as what had originally been planned.
“Selina, I want you to know that, I still feel the same about you. This is just a misunderstanding, I hope, sincerely, that we can put it behind us.” Hebe said solemnly
“Sorry Hebe, I should have clarified first, before jumping to conclusions, but yeah, now everything is alright?” Selina said, flashing a smile towards the end
“Yup!” Hebe said cheekily
The rest of the afternoon, was spent between Selina and Hebe as they shared with each other their past encounters, happy memories. It was a enchanting afternoon for the both of them, as they never spent so much time with a friend before, and yet this friend, was so close. Ella couldn’t turn up as she had something on in the afternoon, time flew, soon it was evening.
“Selina, so you wanna stay for dinner?”
“Nah, I’ve gotta go home for dinner… say sorry to your dad for me”
“Alright”
Hebe’s Dad : Selina, stay for dinner?
“Nah, she has something on…” Hebe interrupts rather unpolitely
Hebe’s Dad : Hebe, I thought I asked you to make her stay?
“Nope! She is not free!” Hebe said
Hebe’s Dad : Hmm..
Hebe : Alright bye Selina!
Selina : Bye Hebe, thanks uncle.. sorry I couldn’t stay today.
Hebe’s Dad : Its ok.. another day perhaps
With that, Selina exchanged a backward glance into the house where she felt so much happiness, as she walked towards the staircase to make her way home.
The next day in school, everything was pretty hectic and chaotic for poor Hebe who had missed out on so many weeks of school. Everyone crowded her desk in the morning to greet her, and there was a lot of catching academically for Hebe.. Hebe who was normally very calm when greeted with school work, was for once in her life frantic as she acknowledged the big amount of formulae and workload which she could not do, nor solve. Luckily, the rest were there to help her, as they guided her back to her normal self, teaching her how to do all the formulas and work.
[ After School ] – School gate
Hebe(admiringly) : Wow this is the first time in a long time since I last been here..
Ella : Yeah, so how does it feel?
Hebe : It feels.. great! *gives a laugh
LH : Whats everyone doing today? Great day for any outdoor activity.
Ella : Lee Hom, wanna play basketball at the court nearby?
LH : Sure!
LH : Jay, show come along too?
Selina(cutting in) : Jay’s busy.
LH(surprised) : Wow, with what?
Selina(proud) : Me.
Jay : Yeah, I’m going shopping with her.
Show : Aww.. *flashes a toothless grin
LH : Show, come along?
Show : Nah, im lazy.
Ella : Hebe, what are you gonna do?
Selina : She’s going to find work am I right?
Hebe(admiringly) : Wow, Selina you know me so well.
Selina(proud again) : But of course! *smiles
As everyone left for their outing locations for the day, Show followed Hebe to the MRT.
“where are you going?” Show asked
“ Hmm, I’m also not very sure. I think I will start with Giordano at Causeway Bay, I heard they are recruiting part time, and its near my house too!” replied Hebe with a smile
“Hmm, can I come with you?” Show asked shyly.
“Whatever for? You want to look for another job too?” Hebe replied with a laugh
“Haha, yeah..”
“Sure then, lets go!”
[ In the train ]
it was really awkard for Show to be in the train with Hebe alone, as he pondered whether she remembered what she said that day, before she went unconscious. He didn’t know whether he should pop the question whether she likes him, or should he wait to a more suitable time. Hebe was humming to herself, unaware to how Show was feeling, and as a matter of fact, after that incident, she seems to be very comfortable with anyone of them. So, Show didn’t know whether it was a sign if Hebe was just comfortable with him, or it was just a universal feeling.
“Why are there so many people in the train today, today is a Tuesday isn’t it?” Hebe wondered out loud
“Don’t know” Show replied with a nervous laugh
“Sorry, did I just think outloud?” Hebe asked with a embarrassed tone
“Yup”
“Aha! I’m back to my old self” gives a smile
“Hebe..”
Hebe looked at show with a questioningly look.
“do you remember what you said that day before you went unconscious?”
“I.. Hmm, what did I say?” Hebe replied innocently.
Immediately, Show was taken aback. He never expected that incident to make her forget the most important words he had heard in his lifetime. He was heartbroken, and yet could do nothing about it.
“Nothing important..” Show replied sounding very down.
“Why suddenly your tone so down? Was it some hurting words I said?”
“Nah, nothing”
“you sure you are alright?”
“Yes.”
Soon, the train reached causeway bay, they alighted and made their way to the Giordano in the nearby shopping center. Spotting the Giordano shop, Hebe went inside with Show following behind.
“Hi, I heard that Giordano is recruiting?” Hebe asked
“Yes, you are right, you are here to apply for which post?” the manager replied
“I’m here to apply for the part-time sales assistant.”
“and him?” asked the manager
“Oh, I’m here to also apply for the part-time sales assistant” Show replied.
“Alright, follow me to the interview room”
inside the interview room, they both were questioned, separately as to how they would like their pay, working hours and other details to be like. After half an hour of relentless interviewing, they were both given the job, they both came out at the same time, with a heave of relief.
“Hebe, so you are working for which days?”
“Monday, Wednesday and Sunday!” Hebe replied happily
“Why those days? I applied for Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Why not Friday?”
“Oh, don’t know” Gives a smile
Show(disappointed) : ah, so what do we do now.. lets go celebrate clinching a job?
Hebe : No haha!
Show : Then?
Hebe : I’m going to find Selina!
Show : For what?
Hebe : We are shopping together!
Show : I’ll come along too
Hebe : Okay!
Show : Lets go!

haha ironically the title conincides with the fact that school is opening tomorrow.. haha.. sorry for the sooo slow update. i guess i've been slacking too much. anyway here it is, sorry for keeping you guys waiting for so long. thanks for waiting!
