Jay was dressed in a black plain tee with denim jeans, which really showed his masculine side, while Selina was dressed in a pink dress, with a ribboned sash, and had a most beautiful brown leather hand bag accompanying it. Jay was not really confident about his dating skills, as he had literally “rehearsed” for this day with LH and Show. He even had a script, well literally, and he was determined to try it out.
“Hey… so where are we going today?” Selina asked as she wrapped her forearm around Jay’s forearm.
“Today… we are going to have a really packed schedule!” Jay replied with a hint of nervousness
“Tell me tell me!” apparent that curiosity had gotten the better of Selina, and the excitement in her voice, led Jay to believe that he was succeeding.
“Well… you will know later!” Jay teased.
“Hmmph!” Selina retorted in mock anger.
Jay smiled to himself. He thought that dating a girl would be a daunting task, he never knew it would be as easy as that. Or was it? He decided to wait and see what the day had in store for him. Selina was literally making off on her own, as she wobbled along, from shop to shop, declaring how cute this and that was, really putting Jay on his wit’s end, as he felt that at this incredibly “quick” pace they were going, his plan would only be half executed, due to the constrain of time, further more, Selina had already said that she wanted to spend valentine with her “family” at 9, so Jay roughly had about 8 hours more.
Soon, Jay came to his first stop. It was a sort of florist within the Shopping center, as Jay had expected, Selina stopped to take a look, admiring the flowers. This gave Jay ample time to dash in to collect the bouquet of flowers he had ordered. Collecting the flowers with a smile, he strode coolly out of the shop, and walked towards Selina who was still whiffing the scent of the enticing flowers.
“Selina!” Jay called out
Selina turned, and her face rubbed against the plastic wrapping over the bouquet. She was shocked, as she turned to look at Jay’s face, which bore a grin,
“Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Selina was too happy for words, as she embraced the bouquet in her arms, as she looked at Jay’s face, and planted a kiss on his cheeks. It was a moment of impulse, Selina just never had been given flowers before by a guy. She immediately blushed subsequently, as she looked at the flowers.
“Thank you!” Selina’s face bore a big smile too.
“1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11” Selina counted aloud.
“Its 11 roses!” Selina declared very pleased.
“Huh?” Jay looked bewildered.
“Don’t you know what does 11 roses mean?” Selina asked bemusedly
“No I don’t” Jay replied honestly
“Haha, You are so shy…” Selina teased, pinching Jay’s nose.
“I seriously don’t what does it mean?” Jay retorted bluntly.
“Huh? You really don’t? then what’s the meaning of this flowers then?”
“I thought 11 was a nice number, and it really fit the size of the bouquet. Hence, 11.” Jay replied
“Oh…” Selina voice trailed off, it now bore a feeling of heaviness, as though Selina wanted to say something but she couldn’t. not anymore.
“Anyway. Lets go!”
“Okay!” Selina face still bore a smile, but it was not as genuine and sweet as previously.
Jay brought Selina to the Ice-skating rink that North Point was famed for. In accordance to Jay’s plan, he would teach Selina how to ice-skate properly, by holding her hand and guiding her step by step, and this would be a beautiful memory for both to possess. But to Jay’s genuine horror, Selina ice-skating skill was top-notch, as she immediately put on her Skating-Blades and went off without him, expecting him to catch up. They however still enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It was near 7 then, as Jay decided to go for their valentine’s dinner, and send Selina back home.
“Where shall we eat?” Jay asked.
“Lets… eat… Mos burger!” Selina replied happily
“What? You can choose from any restaurants here, you know… Why Mos burger?”
“Because… I just feel like eating Mos burger! Can we?” Selina gave those pitiful eyes, that Jay could not say no.
“ Can I do the ordering please? “ Selina asked Jay
“Ah… Okay…”
As Selina stood at the counter, with Jay beside her waiting to pay for her, Selina pointed to the cheapest Chicken Patty rice burger. It was the cheapest item on their menu.
“Can I have two meals of the Chicken Patty rice burger? For the drinks, please get for me 2 grape sodas.” Selina ordered
Jay was shocked. Firstly, he knew Selina to like beef over other meats, as she used to say that beef had beauty ingredients. And Selina never liked fizz drinks. Yet now, she ordered grape soda, both sweet and fizzy. He was looking really lost, when Selina turned to tell him,
“Hebe said that eating this burger, and drinking grape soda, feeling is heavenly, she said that it beats eating any restaurant, so I wanna try!” Selina exhaled
“Hebe… Hebe again…” Jay murmured.
“Whats that?” Selina asked, unable to make out the words Jay had just spoken
“Nothing…”
So the dinner was enjoyed by only 1 party, with Jay frowning at the table, unable to really enjoy his food.
“Wow.. this is really excellent!” Selina remarked
“I never knew such a $4 meal can taste so good! It beats eating beef any day!”
Suddenly, she stopped, noticing Jay’s listless expression. She immediately paused.
“Jay, is there anything wrong?”
“Nothing…”
“Ok… eat up, and I’ve got something for you!”
Consequently in 10 minutes time, when Jay finished his food, They were sitting in Jay’s car, as Jay wanted to start up the car to take Selina home, Selina stopped him.
“Jay, thank you for today, I will never forget today…” Selina said as she caressed the bouquet of roses.
“And I would like you to have this as a valentine’s day gift!” Selina said as she handed over a necklace to Jay.
It was a chained necklace, with the end having the syllable “J”.
“I have the “S” chain. The shop owner said that this chain was specially made. The J and S can be put together, to form a heart.” Selina said, as she showed Jay how to do it.
“I would like you to have it!” Selina declared.
“Thank you…” Jay replied…
“I also will not forget this day.” Jay said as he started his car.
As his car halted outside Selina’s house, he gave Selina a goodbye and goodnight kiss, as he boded her farewell, as she disappeared into her house, which was already brightly lit.
“Thanks for everything!” Jay murmured to himself.
