“You…” JJ’s voice was quivering
“Your father caused my downfall.”
“What…”
“When I was merely six years old, I was touted to take over my father, as the successor of Via Technologies. I was a child prodigy, when it came to business. I understood all there was to know to marketing, the various components, the reason, the process. Everything! At the age of six. Thanks to your father, I have nothing left, nothing at all.”
“What did he do?” Selina’s voice shook with shock
“My father, was the chairman, and founder of Via Technologies. He set up the entire company on his own, with noone helping, other than my mother.”
[ Recount ]
“Gentlemen, both of you, Mr Lin, and Mr Ren, are the two companies short-listed to sign our new contract.”
“We, as the pioneering group of American products to venture into Taiwan, would like to see your final presentations, before we make our final choice, as to which company, to dedicate our contract too.”
“Mr Ren, please go ahead with your presentation first.” The Caucasian offered
“Thank you, Mr James, with pleasure”
Mr Ren talked about why his company should be chosen, what was their vision, their projected outcome, the projected turnover etc. at the end of it, Mr James nodded his head in approval, as Mr Lin, grinned with anticipation.
“What a lousy presentation.” Mr Lin thought to himself.
“This contract, is definitely mine now.” A smug face surfaced
As he pressed his remote control for the power-point slides to start rolling, the wrong slides were coming out. It showed a totally different presentation. It was the exact same presentation he used in an earlier contract meeting.
“Well, Mr Lin, you obviously are not too interested in this contract, to the extent you use a template to present to me…”
“But Mr James…”
“Sorry Mr Lin, this was not too tough a decision to make. Mr Ren, our contract will lie with your company.”
“Thank you.”
Mr Ren then flashed a “You Lose” stare at Mr Lin. Realizing that his power point has been tampered with, and that it was probably Mr Ren, he slumped back into his chair, as he stared at the contract being signed, in disbelief.
[ End of Flashback ]
“Do you know what happened after that?” JJ was by now screaming at near the top of his voice
“I became an orphan.” JJ sniffed
“My dad committed suicide shortly after that from depression, as losing that contract meant that the overdrafts his company faced would engulf it, and he was declared an bankrupt by the bank…”
“All thanks to your dad.”
“YOUR DAD!”
“It was a mistake, and your dad cowardly took the contract.”
“WHAT A JOKE!”
”You can’t blame my father for something like that.” Selina retorted fiercely
“Yes I can. I can even do more!”
Came dangling out of his pocket, was a weapon that could end lives easily. What people would term a pistol.
