The first paragraph was all she needed, to go racing back out of her house.
“Dear, Miss Tian Fu Zhen
We at HIM International Music has witnessed first-hand your performance today, and we would like to extend a 3 year contract to you, Miss Selina Ren, and Miss Ella Chen.
It will start with a 1 year vocal and dancing training in Japan, fully paid”
Hebe could hardly hold back her happiness, as she clambered up the stairs leading to Selina’s house.
“Hebe!” A voice rang out from behind her.
Turning around, she saw Ella, in a similar flustered state as her, also just reaching Selina’s house.
“Did you re…” Ella asked, panting heavily
“Yes!” Hebe exclaimed.
“Lets hurry in then!” Ella declared.
They were greeted at the door by a very bewildered looking Selina, pretty evidently she had no knowledge as to what was happening.
“Wow.. you girls miss me so fast?” Selina chuckled
“Yes.. and no…” Hebe replied, amidst trying to catch her breath.
“What are u girls here for then?”
Hebe shoved the letter towards Selina. On seeing the HIM logo, Selina started prancing around madly. She was in a state of euphoria, as she started crying out of utter joy.
She spotted her own letter on the table, presumably someone had picked it up and placed it on the table.
“We are going to be real artistes at last!” Selina shouted, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Yes we are!” Hebe and Ella joined in the shouting.
Soon, the Ren household was all pretty much awake, due to the excessive noise that the trio made, but they didn’t care. They wanted to let it all out, soak in this moment in time, and nothing was going to stop them.
The girls then called over Show, Jay and LH to join in the ruckus, even though the reason was not made known to them. When they reached, It was only then, were they informed that the girls had been offered contracts.
Instead of feeling very happy for them, Jay and Show was feeling very disappointed. They didn’t want to let go of this relationship yet. There was still so many things they had not done together… they had not went star-gazing, watching the sun-rise, and many other things. And now, the girls were all willing to give it up just for themselves? They knew deep down they were being very selfish, but they merely wanted to be happy, fighting for their own happiness. They put on a false front, smiling and creating more noise. Deep down, they were hurting, immensely.
After the initial novelty had worn off, Jay couldn’t take it anymore, as he brought Selina outside into the still and quiet night, to ask her to stay. The surrounding sounds of crickets, and the cooling breeze with the pale lighting, made up for a very serene environment.
“Selina…” Jay started
Selina turned to face Jay, still beaming with happiness, insensitive to Jay’s innermost feelings.
“How much does our relationship matter to you?” Jay added, unflinching, his eyes boring into Selina’s.
“What do you mean by that?” Selina replied, feeling rather shocked, as though she was beginning to get the gravity of the matter.
“I mean… can you reject the offer for the contract?”
“Why? You also know it’s my lifelong dream to become a performer, and adored by many.” Selina replied with a hint of desperation
“For the sake of us… for the sake of me… can you?”
“Jay… we can still remain like this even if I leave for Japan.”
“No, we can’t! I’m worried.” Jay replied sadly
“Worried about what?” Selina replied, with many mixed emotions.
Selina was feeling very angry with Jay for making such a selfish request, but yet, she loved him, and she really appreciated all he had done for her thus far, and she really treasured it, she also wished that she did not have to leave to Japan, and could remain with Jay, and still achieve her lifelong goal.
“I’m worried you would leave me…”
“I won’t… I promise.”
“…”
“Ok then… good luck with your artiste career then, mega star.” Jay replied coldly with a strong sense of contempt.
Selina was shocked, and as she struggled to find the right words to reply, she could see Jay’s despondent figure becoming increasingly smaller, as he walked away.
“It is best… for him, if we break-up…” Selina thought to herself, as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Jay, I really enjoyed the times we had together, especially Valentine’s, it was totally unforgettable.i would like to thank you for all that special memories, and I would also love to let u know, that it will forever be in my heart, and kept dearly. But, as I attempt to embark onto a new chapter of my life, a defining chapter, it is one of my life’s biggest regret thus far, that you are unable to perceive it as I do, and for you to be writing that chapter together with me. I am suggesting that we forget about each other, and we will be strangers, the next time we meet, to save both of us, that pain. I sincerely wish you luck in all your endeavors, and may you find the right one for you soon. You are a great guy. – Selina”
As Selina keyed in her name into her phone, tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably, as she hit the send button to Jay. Almost immediately, she was surrounded with two faces she loved dearly, and had witnessed the entire scene. She buried her head in between both of their chests, as she sobbed, and cried…
