“Bernice, that’s enough!” Moses cried desperately yet Bernice ignored him and sauntered ahead.
A few hours ago, he had gotten a call from the police station regarding Bernice. Moses immediately rushed there. Relief that Bernice was safe and sound. He was more than elated to see her, but she showed otherwise. It was then that it hit him, he was just a second choice.
He grabbed the bottle of alcohol from her hands, threw it onto the ground as smashed into little pieces of glass. Bernice threw him a glare.
“Why did you do that, huh?!” she demanded as she looked longingly at the pieces on the cemented ground. “I want more.” Bernice yelled as tears streamed down her face, unknowingly. “I want more....”
“Bernice, you’ve had enough. C’mon – I’ll bring you home.”
Ignoring Bernice’s constant struggles and words of disapproval, Moses dragged her along – refusing to give in.
Moses carefully tuck Bernice into her bed which she threw away.
“Why didn’t he come?” she sniffed, obviously talking about Raymond.
“He...he was busy.” Moses lied but he knew it was a failed attempt for Bernice did not believe it. “I’ll be going now.” he said softly.
Bernice reached out and took his hand before he make it out the door.
“I don’t want to be alone. Stay with me tonight. Please.” she sounded almost desperate.

Putting on his shoes, Bosco was about to head out when the doorbell rang. It surprised him. Who could be here at this time of the morning? It was only 7:00 AM.
“Hi there! I’m here to fix your broken computer?” the female, standing in front of him, cried cheerfully. Bosco rolled his eyes, looking past her shoulder.
“Yeah. C’mon in.” he opened the door wider for her.
She was wearing a blue cap with her hair tied back into a ponytail. The overall was way too big for her. In one hand was a tool box that she had carried along. Bosco led her into the living room as he went to the kitchen to search for something to moisten their throats.
Once inside, Linda sighed with relief, taking off the cap and threw it aside. She plopped herself down onto the couch comfortably as if it was her home.
“Orange juice alright for you?” Bosco shouted over his shoulder.
“Yeah.” Linda replied. Bosco came back from the kitchen and threw her the beverage. Linda had gulped it down in a span of one minute. Bosco watched in amazement.
“What did Michael do to you?” Bosco laughed at the sight in front of him.
Linda shook her head. “You don’t want to know. He’s very anxious about this case.”
“So why are you dressed like that?” he asked, looking at her from head to toe. Linda noticed his stare. She grabbed the nearest thing to her, which was a cushion, and sent it flying Bosco’s direction. Unfortunately, he easily dodged it.
“Michael sent me, duh! Visiting you would be the last thing on my list! You think I would come here, willingly?” Linda said jokingly.
“Yes. I don’t know, perhaps you’ve missed me.” he teased, only to receive another cushion come his way.
“For your information, I have absolutely no interest in you.” she laughed and got serious again. “How’s the investigation going? Found anything so far?”
Bosco shook his head, Linda frowned. “Nope. Not yet. He doesn’t seem to trust me.”
“You better do it fast. Time is of the essence.”
Bosco gave Linda an odd look. “Since when did I need YOUR advice?”
“Hey!” she pouted. “Just wanted to remind you!”
Bosco laughed.
“Anyway, Michael wanted to see you today.”
“Right now?” Bosco’s mind drifted off to Tavia. “What does he need to see me for?”
Linda shrugged. “Hey, I’m only here to deliver the message, so there you go.”
“I’m never counting on you, again.”
Linda giggled. “Sounds good to me.”

Tavia woke up to a throbbing pain her head; everything around her was spinning and she could barely open up her eyes. Her body temperature seemed to have risen up a few degrees and she would cough non-stop. She decided that it must’ve been her fault for wandering around the streets, late at night. Not to mention, the lack of sleep and anxiety also contributed her to fever.
In amidst her drowsiness, she heard the door creak open.
She wanted to open her eyes yet her exhaustion did not allow her to. However, she did manage to make out a fuzzy figure of a man. At first, Tavia thought it was Bosco but as her vision became clearer, she realized it was not Bosco. Bosco had yellow highlights in his hair and it would always be spike up, however, this person did not have those factors. Instead, his hair was all black and his fringes were swept to one side; it was long yet not enough to completely cover his face.
It was only Raymond.
Tavia felt a soft hand placed on her forehead as she mumbled incoherent words.
“Shiet.” she heard him say with much concern.
“Sammul, this is Raymond calling. I need you to come over right now; I have a sick patient.”
There was a pause.
“Look! I don’t give a damn where you are right now! You better show up in 15 minutes!”

“It’s only a fever, she’ll be alright.” Sammul explained as he began to pack his things. “Oh right, here’s the prescription; remember to let her take it and she should get better real soon!” he smiled, handing Raymond the letter of prescription. Sammul stole a glance at Raymond. Sammul thought he saw Raymond sighing in relief, but that couldn’t possibly be.
Raymond was Raymond.
“You look quite worried there, something I haven’t seen before.” he joked, earning a glare from Raymond. “Alright, alright. I’ll be leaving now.”
Raymond nodded and didn’t even bother to see Sammul out.
He took one last look at the sleeping Tavia and headed out, quietly shutting the door behind him.

Slowly, her eyes fluttered open. Tavia rose from the bed, feeling a tad bit better than before. The throbbing pain in her head had ceased and she felt much more awake.
9:33 PM. The clock on her night-stand read. She had been in bed, practically the whole day.
Tavia then noticed the glass of water, placed on the side. Vaguely, she had remembered someone came in, sat her up and feeding something into her mouth. Deciding not to worry about that, she got up and left her room.
She wondered where Bosco was; he was her bodyguard, afterall.
“What are you doing out of bed?”
Tavia jumped at his voice; he had nearly given her a heart attack.
“Just thought I’d get up for awhile.” she replied. “Have you seen Bosco today?”
Raymond looked at her, confused. Tavia concluded that Raymond did not know Bosco was the bodyguard’s name. It really wasn’t a surprise.
“The bodyguard?”
“Oh.” Raymond wanted to know why she was asking for the bodyguard. “He called in today, said he had personal matters to attend to.”
“Oh.” she sounded disappointed and she really was — Bosco’s company would really cheer her up.
“Why?” he asked, couldn’t help but feel jealous.
“Oh, umm..nothing. Why are you home so early?” He would mostly come home around 11 or 12, sometimes even 3 AM.
He cleared his throat. “I didn’t go to work today.”
“Why not?” she pondered.
“Because...that’s none of your business!” he replied in a harsh tone in which he never intended to use.
Tavia felt sad by the tone of his voice. An image of their kiss last night flashed through her mind; her cheeks turning a deep shade of pink at the thought.
“Go back to bed.” he stated, now standing right in front of her. She could not do anything except abide to his command. As she walked back to her room, Tavia made a note to herself that she would visit Chris again tomorrow.
