“Hebe.” Selina started, while Hebe was driving the car they were in. “I have something to confess.”
“What is it?” Hebe asked her, her focus still on the driveway.
“Don’t get mad, don’t get shocked, don’t get anything, okay?” Selina warned.
“Okay.” Hebe sighed.
“I’ll ask you first.” Selina paused. “What if I tell you that I was the one who killed the Wu couple?”
“What?” Hebe asked with shock written all over her face. “So, that’s what you are to tell me?” Hebe asked.
“Yes.” Selina nodded and took a quick glance at Hebe to see her reaction. “So, what would you say?”
“Well, I’m shocked.” Hebe sighed. “But don’t tell Elle.”
“Why?” Selina asked. “Wouldn’t it be nice if she finds out? The guilt all over her would fade, Hebs.” Selina reasoned out.
“You don’t know.” Hebe whispered. “Then, if you insist.” Hebe finally managed to reply. “Tell her; let’s just see how she reacts to that.” In Hebe’s mind all she could think of is that it wouldn’t be too appropriate if Ella would know, but then she wouldn’t want Selina’s decision to go to waste so she managed to just let her if she insists on telling so.

Chun stayed in for the night and slept with me, so I expected to see him beside me as I wake up. But then to my surprise, he wasn’t there anymore. He didn’t even leave me a note.
Right after making a realization that he wasn’t there anymore, I managed to jump off my bed without feeling any sad or emotional thoughts. I just went with the flow with whatever what was going to happen today. Anyway, he would call me up or whatever if he wants to see me again. I’m not saying that I’m thinking he just used me, but that’s just how I think.
Anyway, I went to the bathroom and fixed myself up, then right after that I went out my room with a pair hands snaking their way on my waist. I reacted and jumped off from wherever I am now. I turned around and found out that it was Chun. Oh, now I know that I think I should’ve looked around the house first before making a realization of whether he’s still in or out the house.
“You scared me!” I said, almost yelling at him.
“Sorry.” He uttered under his breath. I could easily tell that it was almost a whisper and with a sincere tone of voice.
“It’s okay.” I carefully removed his hands off my waist and faced him with my hand massaging his head. “Anyway, what were you doing there?” I asked and pointed to wherever direction he just came from.
“I was roaming around your house.” He replied. “Guess what?” He asked me.
“What?” I asked impatiently.
“I found out your secret.” I was stunned. He can’t know about me being an agent. No, just not now! I was speechless, I didn’t know what to say and he even sounded as if he wasn’t pleased at all. I suddenly remembered my treasure chest, which consisted of my agent memories. From my outfit, to the pictures with my ex-subordinates and colleagues to the guns I used. But then it’s locked, there’s no way that he saw it. The key’s with me. “You didn’t tell me you were such a great writer.” He continued and smiled innocently at me. Oh my, that scared me – scared me to death, seriously! But then once I heard what he just said, I felt relieved and then I managed to smile back at him.
“Why you!” That same sentence again as to the day when he came barging on my house just to drink and sober up.
“I found it real amusing anyway.” He said.
“What did you read?” I asked him. “The title, I mean.”
“A Slap on the Face.” He replied laughing. I laughed along. How I remember those school days, but that was like years ago that I wrote that. I didn’t know I still kept that. “It was really hilarious.”
A minute passed and what shocked us is the fact that someone rang the doorbell. In fact, it just cut our happy moment. I’m sure we weren’t or perhaps I am not expecting visitors. The doorbell rang again for the second time in the day. Chun looked at me, and then I looked back at him.
“Let’s go see who it is.” He said and pulled me downstairs to open the front door.
“Selina, Hebe!” I yelled and panicked at the same time. I saw them there with my own eyes in front of me, wearing their black, skinny agent suits. Then, I looked at Chun who looked shocked seeing two agent-like figures in front of us. They didn’t respond to what I just said. Instead, they walked in the house not waiting for my permission. They were glaring at Chun, I could see that and don’t understand why. Oh yeah, I remembered what Hebe told me and here I am with him, with them seeing the whole scene. What made it worst was the fact that he really looked like he slept with me and that isn’t helping me even for a bit.
“Who are they?” Chun looked at them and then back at me.
“They’re my—“ I paused. “Friends?”
“What are you two doing here?” I asked them and sat at the couch which happens to be in front of them with Chun beside me.
“We’re just checking up on you.” Selina replied who quickly took a glance at Chun with guilt written on her face. I didn’t understand why she looked at him like that, but then I can assure myself that Sel didn’t like Chun. I mean the like-like kind of thing. “But—“ She paused and looked at me and then back at Chun.
“It wouldn’t be too appropriate if he’s here.” Hebe continued for Selina and pointed at Chun. Chun looked at me and quickly kissed me on my left cheek, completely not taking note about Sel and Hebe’s presence. He was most certainly ready to stand up and walk away. But then, I held his wrists and asked him to go back to his seat.
“He’s not going anywhere.” I exclaimed. They were most certainly not respecting Chun, they really aren’t and I could definitely feel it. They just pointed at him like that and Chun who saw all these just respected their decisions and went with the flow. But I wouldn’t let him off that easily, I wouldn’t let them off. Maybe they’re really doing this for me, I thought. Selina and Hebe, that is. But they should just respect whatever decision I have. I know I could still recall the time I told Hebe not to interfere with my own business, but she just wouldn’t listen.
“What do you want, Elle?” Hebe exclaimed, standing up from her seat. “We would just like to talk to you privately and this is what you show us!” She emphasized the word ‘privately’ and then glanced and glared at Chun again. She was now angry, I could tell. Hebe really is hot tempered; I wouldn’t think twice why she was acting like that. But then to Chun’s eyes, it is as if Hebe’s going mad at me so he really looked worried and gripped at my hand.
“Fine!” I surrendered. “Chun, go up first, okay?” I pleaded and let him off this time, only him. Not yet the two ladies in front of me. I am most certainly acting like this because I’m angry at Hebe. Once I let Chun off, all eyes were glued to him. We waited until he slammed the front door shut until one of us spoke again.
“So…” Selina started. “As we were saying, Elle we’d like—“
“Wait a minute!” I cut her. “Tell me first why you two are here, okay? Tell me what topic we’re going to talk about and I’ll approve first before we start. Tell me what time it is.” I looked at the clock that read ten in the morning and I still haven’t eaten breakfast. “Never mind! Anyway, it’s ten in the morning. I’d only allow you two to talk with me until eleven, because I am most certain that I won’t like the topic we’d start off with.”
“We’d talk to you as long as we want, Elle.” Hebe interrupted.
“I haven’t eaten breakfast yet.” I tried to debate with her, trying to let them let me go. I was saying lately that I won’t let them go easily, right? That’s because I want them to be the one to let go off me.
“Whatever.” Hebe rolled her eyes. “The topic’s about the Wu’s, the killing and whatever topic we’d go through as we process this conversation.” She looked at Selina who nodded at her.
“Ella, you aren’t the one who killed the Wu couple.” Selina startled me with what she said. She almost yelled and I was still panicking because I was worried that Chun might have heard it or might hear our conversation as we progress on it.
“Why do you say so?” I raised an eyebrow at her. “It can’t be!” I hesitated. “I saw it with my own eyes, Sel.”
“I’m telling the truth, Elle.” I could tell they were hiding something from me.
“You’re just saying that for me not to be guilty.” I argued back. Selina’s tears were now streaming down her face and Hebe was there, hugging her.
“It was me, Elle.” She explained. Now, tears started to roll down my tears too. “It was me who killed them.” She continued explaining.
“Stop it, Sel!” I pleaded, but she was hesitant so she continued, still.
“I was residing at the building besides you, remember?” She asked me. “Didn’t you notice that you didn’t have anymore ammunitions?” She continued asking me and same goes for me who continued dodging the questions and shaking my head. “I shot my gun the same time you shot yours.”
“It wouldn’t make perfect sense, Sel.” I stated. “Even if you were the one to kill them, the fact that I wanted to kill them too still remains the same.” I paused. “Whatever happened in the past could never be changed.” I don’t know what the truth really is. They’re making me real confused about the whole situation now. But all I know is that I don’t want to continue this conversation anymore.
“It would.” She said seriously as she walked towards me and wiped away the tears that were forming my eyes and hugged me. “At least it wasn’t you who killed them.”
“Sel, go now.” I suggested and hugged Selina for that one last time for the day. “Hebe, accompany her to the agency, okay?” I couldn’t take it anymore; I know I have to end this conversation so I let them go. “Whatever happens, don’t interfere.” I continued with a cold tone.
“It’s up to you if you believe me.” Selina stood up and started walking away, with Hebe trailing behind her. “But remember that I never lied to you, Elle.” She paused and stopped right at the front door. “Especially if it is this important of a matter.”
I couldn’t decide what to believe. Even then, it still remains that I wanted to kill the Wu’s too. Oh, Chun! Now I regret that I ever met you, but at the same time I still love you even if you’re the cause of this heartache.
I quickly ran up the stairs and blew my eyes for it to cool even if I know it’s still obvious that I cried. I opened the door to my room and quickly gripped on Chun’s shirt and hugged him. “I love you. Whatever happens.” Right now, that’s all I could manage to say.
The conversation today was all too sudden. I don’t even think it lasted for fifteen minutes. I didn’t even register on my mind whatever I had to say lately and whatever Hebe and Selina told me. All I could think of now is that Chun’s beside me and if he continues it so, then I’d stay calm. I’d forever feel safe.
