“Okay, you can open your eyes now,” Edison tells her, as he pulls to a stop.

Rain opens her eyes and finds that they are on peak and looks to Edison, “This is the surprise place?” she asks questioningly.

“You said you didn’t want to always have to go to the dock when you need a breath of fresh air,” Edison explains. “Well here is a place where if you don’t want, no one will find you here,” he says, opening the roof of the car, revealing the star-lit night sky.

Rain smiles gratefully, “Thank you.”

“Raymond Lam talked to you last night,” Edison assumes. “Asked about the death of the witness?”

Rain tries to brush off the situation, and tells him, “It doesn’t matter. We aren’t together anymore,” she reveals.

Seeing the emotional pain she tried to hold back, “You must really love him,” Edison asks, as he slowly looks up towards her to see her response.

Rain looks at Edison, deciding upon her answer, and reacting unemotionally to the comment, says, “I can love you as well.”

Edison then leans towards Rain and kissed her. Pulling back slowly, he looks into her eyes, as he then kisses her again, passionately, as Rain kisses him back.

“Hey,” Raymond says softly, as he walks through the private hospital room, seeing Michelle sitting up in bed.

Michelle gives him a warm smile, “Hi Raymond, off work?”

“Yeah, thought I’d drop by before heading home,” Raymond explains, placing the bouquet of white lilies onto the night table. “How are you feeling?”

“A lot better,” Michelle informs, “The doctor said I should be able to go home in the next couple of days, just need a few more check ups to make sure I’m all right.”

Feeling at guilt, “I’m sorry Michelle,” Raymond apologizes. “If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have to be here in the first place.”

Seeing Raymond’s guilt-filled expression, Michelle finally reveals, “I will never leave you, whether you love me or not, because I know that I love you,” she explains, then forcing a weak smile, “I just want to be there for you.”

Raymond, touched by her words, “I know you will be there to be by my side and support me in all that I do…” he starts, “But I don’t want to accept your continual love when I’m not clear as to what my heart is feeling.”

“Come in,” Michelle acknowledges the knock on the hospital door. Assuming it was Raymond, “Did you forget something here?” As she looks up to see Rain walking up to her, “Rain?”

“Hi Michelle,” Rain says, putting down a bouquet of lilacs beside the vase of white lilies. “How are you feeling?”

“Much better, thanks,” Michelle tells her, then adds, “You just missed Raymond by a few minutes, he just left not long ago.”

Rain, not showing much reaction to the comment, “Really?”

Looking at Rain, “Have you talked to Raymond yet?” Michelle asks, “I’m sure you guys can work things out.”

Rain smiles to Michelle’s concern, “We aren’t together anymore, I don’t think there is much for us to talk about.”

“Just because of this incident with your uncle?” Michelle questions. “Maybe this is just a test for you and Raymond…”

“Smiling mockingly to the comment, “If this is Fate’s test on Raymond and me, then I suppose we have failed.”

“Don’t give up just yet,” Michelle urges, “I know Raymond still loves you a lot, he wouldn’t want this to happen.”

Looking at Michelle’s sincere words of concern for her relationship with Raymond, “I remember someone telling me that I must really love Raymond, but after meeting you, I wonder if I can even compare to your love for him,” Rain confesses, giving Michelle a hopeful smile.

Michelle smiles thankfully, “Thank you. But if I could choose, I would rather be more selfish, and know that he loves me.”

Waiting for Edison’s arrival, Raymond stands at the dock, and as the sun begins to set, he goes through every sudden event that had happened the past few weeks.

Not long after, Edison pulls his car up by the curb and parks. Walking out, he eyes Raymond, as the two of them look at one another, their guard up.

Edison stops in close distance across from Raymond, not planning to start any conversation.

“You hired for the assassination of the witness against Chun Pui,” Raymond initiates full front.

Edison does not defend the accusation, nor does he admit to it, “If you had evidence to prove your assumption, we wouldn’t be standing here talking.”

Seeing Edison’s uncooperative manner, “If you really do love Rain, then you wouldn’t keep her in a world that only causes her to live in misery and pain,” Raymond challenges.

Edison looks at Raymond’s naïve to the situation, “If you love her, you wouldn’t make her choose between the two things she cherishes most.”

Caught off guard, Raymond looks at Edison for explanation.

“The two most important people in Rain’s life is Chun Sok and you,” Edison admits unwillingly. “You are forcing her to choose between that, and if she can’t, then maybe someone has to decide for her.”
