Sok – Uncle

As Kwok Lung sat in his office room, counting over financial files, a knock interrupts his train of thought.
Walking in, his secretary reveals Raymond, Michelle, and Matt behind her. “Mr. Kwok, these officers are here to see you.”
Raymond, stepping up clarifying his position, “Mr. Kwok Lung, I’m Sergeant Lam Fung, head of the C.I.D. department. You are currently charged for trafficking of illegal products and possible unclosed murders. You do not have to say anything in your defense, however if you choose to do so, please note that it may be used on court for further evidence.”

“Rain,” Michelle calls out as she notices Rain about to enter the police station.
Rain, turning around to the call of her name, sees Michelle approaching her, “Hi Michelle, just got back from lunch?” she asks, as they stood at the entrance of the station.
“Yeah, I just went out with Mimi and them,” Michelle briefly explains.
Seeing a white take-out bag in Michelle’s hand, “And bought lunch for Raymond?” Rain asks knowingly. “Let me guess, Raymond is still putting his work over everything and having unbalanced meals of the sort, but he doesn’t like the cafeteria food so you went and bought outside food for him.”
Michelle gives at weak smile to Rain’s knowledge of Raymond’s habit, “Yeah, are you here to see him?”
“Yes, you guys had the arrest of Kwok Lung this morning, so I thought I’d drop by to see if there is any further development needed for the case to progress,” Rain explains. Sensing Michelle’s discomfort, she adds, “Raymond is a pretty fortunate to have you care for him at all times, it’s no wonder he seems happier than I’ve ever known him to be.”
Michelle, forming a smile in pleasure, “Really?”
“Raymond is a very career-oriented man, he needs someone as thoughtful and caring as you to assist him,” Rain tells Michelle knowingly, then teasingly suggests, “And sometimes he needs a hint to remind him that he should be the one caring for you.”
Before Michelle could respond, Raymond walks out from the station and sees the two of them, “Rain, Michelle?”
“Hey Raymond, I was just about to go up and see you,” Rain acknowledges, “Guess this saves me the effort.”
“Yeah, I was just about to grab some lunch before I called you here,” Raymond explains, then sees Michelle standing quietly aside from them. “Hey, what are you doing out here, Mimi, Matt, and Lai Sok were back a while ago.”
Michelle, giving a soft smile, “I went to buy lunch for you,” she says, handing him the take-out.
“Oh, thanks,” Raymond gratifies, taking the bag in hand.
“I better get back to work,” Michelle bids, turning to Rain, “Nice talking to you Rain.”
“Yeah, you too,” Rain bids, as Michelle left, and turns to Raymond with the take-out in his hand, “So, should I come back at a later time?”
Raymond smiles, “Did you have lunch yet?”
“No, I came as soon as I was notified of the arrest,” Rain answers.
“Let’s go out for lunch and talk then,” Raymond suggests, leading Rain to his car. Noticing that Rain was looking at the take-out, “I’ll finish this too,” he assures her, knowing her concern.
Rain, smiling, follows Raymond to his car.

“I don’t know how you’re going to manage the lunch Michelle bought you after that lunch,” Rain says, as Raymond and her walks down the busy streets that were soon dispersing.
Raymond smiles in agreement, “That’s why I’m going to need this walk, otherwise, I think I’d explode if I took one more bite.”
Glancing at the random shops down the street, Rain laughs to the comment, “And lucky for me, I get to see Sergeant Lam in physical action.”
As they laugh in unison to the teasing, Rain’s attention was brought to a jewelry shop, as she immediately goes up towards the glass display.
Seeing Rain’s attention focused on a male’s watch, “For Edison?” Raymond concludes.
Rain, still looking at the watch replica of Edison’s worn one, “Edison has a watch just like this one, but his is getting really worn and he’s unwilling to get rid of it.”
“Let’s go in and check it out,” Raymond suggests, opening the door for Rain.

“Welcome Mister and Miss, how may I help you,” a clerk instantly greets them upon entering.
“We would like to see the antique watch you have on display,” Raymond gestures towards the display window.
As the clerk brought the watch up to Rain and Raymond, Rain, takes the watch into hand and looks at it deeply. “This is the exact make Edison has,” she tells Raymond, not taking her sight off the watch.
“Purchase it,” Raymond urges her.
Rain, unsure, “I don’t know what sentiment the original one has for him,” she says with uncertainty.
“The old may be of great value and sentiment, but a new one can create a start of something new and just as valuable,” Raymond hints her.

Walking from the jewelry store, Rain sighs happily, “Thanks for helping me out Raymond.”
Raymond smiles, “I didn’t exactly do anything, but you’re welcome.”
Beyond expectations, a white van suddenly pulls up to them, with men of half a dozen, charging out and heading towards.
Four of the six men immediately attack Raymond, ganging up upon him, as the two other grabs a shocked Rain, causing her to let a cry of surprise.
“Rain!” Raymond shouts out, as the street scatters with delirious people, not knowing what to do. Raymond continues to call out Rain’s name, as he is continually beat to in towards the wall of a store.
As soon as Rain was inside the van, the rest of the men stops the assault and quickly retrieves into the van and makes their way off.
