Before Mimi could open her mouth, to her surprise, Raymond quickly gets out of the car and heads in Rain and Edison’s direction, leaving Mimi watching from her seat.

As Edison continues to forcefully kiss Rain, Rain finally manages to pull away, and out of confusion, slaps Edison.

Edison, not responding to the action, but stands in the same position, as Rain stood directly across from him.

There was, but only a brief second of silence, before Raymond had approached them.

“Lawyer Lee, is everything all right?” he asks, giving Edison a glance before walking past him and to Rain’s side.

After Rain too, gave Edison a glance, she turns to Raymond, “Yes, everything is all right,” she replies.

“Are you sure?” Raymond asks questioningly.

“Yes, I’m sure,” Rain give the same response.

“If everything is all right, may I leave now?” Edison asks Raymond, but without waiting for an answer, walks away, brushing past Raymond as they look directly at one another. Before turning away, Edison looks to Rain once more, as Rain upon seeing his glance, looks off to the side.

As Edison’s shadow slowly disappeared into the night, Raymond returns his attention to Rain. “Lawyer Lee, do you need any assistance getting home?” he asks.

“No, it’s all right,” answers Rain between their awkward moment. “I… should be going now,” Rain explains, “Good-bye Sergeant Lam,” she bids.

“Good-bye,” Raymond too, bids, as he watches Rain get into her car and drives off.

As Raymond turns to head back to his car, he looks up to see Mimi standing not afar. Noticing her suspicious look towards him, he asks, “What?” but continues, “Nothing’s probably going to happen tonight, I’ll drive you home.”

While Raymond continues his way towards the car, Mimi only stands for a moment before following behind him, nodding her head, as if having just answered a question.

“Miss.”

“Thanks Sum Jie,” Rain greets, as she enters the manor and walks to the living room upon seeing Chun Pui. “Chun Sok.”

“Rain,” Chun Pui acknowledges, but continues and asks, “did you happen to see Edison tonight?”

Rain, feeling awkward, answers, “N… no, I haven’t, why?”

Chun Pui sighs, as he starts to explain, “This evening, Fung Sok and Edison got into an argument over some business matters and things started heating up with Edison leaving in the end.” As Chun Pui finishes, “I have never seen Fung and Edison get into such an argument. Edison is known as a very filial son, even your case with him was for Fung…”

Rain then looks up at Chun Pui, “I thought this trade-off was Edison’s idea?”

“No, Edison cautioned Fung, but Fung’s mind was made up, so Edison could only go in Fung’s name to prevent Fung from going,” Chun Pui explains. “Someone said they saw Edison leaving Midnight Bar drunk, and I thought there might be that chance that you would bump into him.”

Rain did not respond, only realized the reason to Edison’s behavior that night.

“Please, you’re exaggerating,” Michelle says, as Mimi and her went to get their morning coffee at the station.

“You weren’t there,” Mimi explains, “You didn’t see how Raymond reacted when that Edison Chen kissed her.”

“Couldn’t Raymond just be helping her out? That’s not something out of the norm,” Michelle explains, not making much of the incident, as they walk to Mimi department first as usual.

“I’m telling you, if you don’t tell Raymond how you feel about him now, he might get snatched away,” Mimi warns. “Look, the only reason you walk me to my department first, is just so that you could catch a glimpse of Raymond in the morning,” Mimi points out.

Michelle, knowing that Mimi was right, “I’m not even going to bother arguing with you, I have to get to my department,” Michelle says, as she turns around, only to see Raymond right in front of her. “Morning,” Michelle manages to say, feeling awkward to her conversation with Mimi, knowing that he had heard.

“Morning,” Raymond returns, as he continues to stand in silence.

“Well, I guess I’ll just leave you two to talk,” Mimi says, as she goes into her department.

As Raymond and Michelle stand in a moment of awkward silence, Raymond tries to break the ice, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be eavesdropping on you conversation…”

“It’s all right,” Michelle answers, understandingly, and tries to explain, “You don’t have to listen to Mimi, she just likes to start things-“

“Actually,” Raymond interrupts, but stops short.

Michelle, knowingly, asks, “Actually what?”

“I meant to say,” Raymond says, trailing, “I’ve actually been meaning to…”

Michelle, though eager, shyly looks down at her hands, as she patiently waits for his explanation.

“There you are!”

Surprised, Michelle looks up, and only to see Matt walking up towards them.

“Oh, hey Michelle, you’re here too,” Matt finally notices, but turns his attention back to Raymond, “Hey, you know-“ Matt stops short as he realizes his mistake. “I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?”

Raymond looks towards Michelle, as she weakly smiles at Matt and answers, “No, I was just leaving,” she says, as she turns to Raymond once more.

“See you later then,” Raymond says lamely.

Michelle, disappointed, “Bye,” she says, as she departs.

Just as Michelle had gone, Mimi quickly pushes open the door and pulls Raymond and Matt in with Lai Sok right behind her.

“What the heck were you doing?!” Mimi scolds at Matt. “Can you not take a hint.”

“I can’t help you this time,” Lai Sok agrees, “You saw Raymond and Michelle there, now why would you get in the way.”

“What, I didn’t even realize Michelle was there until I was already talking to Raymond,” Matt defends.

“I’ll argue with that later,” Mimi warns, as she turns to Raymond, “And you, can you for once not disappoint us?!”

“I-“ Raymond tries to explain, but was cut off by Mimi.

“We don’t even care if you disappoint us, but must you always disappoint Michelle as well?” Mimi says, finally receiving Raymond’s attention with that comment. “Do you like her? Yes or no?”

Caught off guard, Raymond did not know how to respond, “I…”

“Okay, you don’t have to answer,” Mimi suggests, “Tomorrow’s the weekend, I’ll help you make a date with Michelle at the Clearwater Bay Café at 3:00 p.m. You can tell her the answer then.”

“What?!” exclaims Michelle, as Mimi and her were in the cafeteria.

“I helped you guys make a date for tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at Clearwater Bay Café,” Mimi repeats.

“You can’t just force him to give me an answer,” Michelle explains.

“Why not?” asks Mimi. “He shouldn’t be leading you on if he doesn’t like you, and if he does, I’m just helping him out.

“I just don’t want-“ Michelle says, before getting cut off.

“Just don’t worry about anything,” Mimi assures, “Just make sure you dress up nice for your date tomorrow.”

This time, Michelle didn’t respond, but gave a hopeful smile.

Rain walks out of her office building, about to put on her sunglasses, but before she could, a bouquet of white orchids were presented in front of her. She did not take the bouquet of flowers into hands, but continued to stand outside the entrance, with Edison no sooner standing in front of her.

“And to what would I owe for this gesture,” Rain comments, looking at the bouquet.

“That depends if Lawyer Lee is willing to accept apologies, even though they are a day late,” replies Edison, handing the bouquet over to her.

Rain takes the bouquet into her hands, “Well, I had expected the flowers yesterday…”

“I had some business to settle,” Edison explained, and without having to say any more, Rain understood.

“So is this business settled now?” she asked.

“Yes,” answers Edison, “which is why I would like to request the honor to take Lawyer Lee out for lunch this afternoon.”

Rain smiles, “I don’t see a reason to not take up the offer.”

“Can you please hurry,” Michelle urges the cab driver as she constantly took glances at her watch.

“I’m sorry Miss, but there’s a heavy traffic jam ahead, I don’t think you can expect to get out of it within the next hour or two,” explains the cab driver.

“What?!” exclaims Michelle, as she looks down at her watch that read 2:42 p.m. She then quickly rummages through her purse, and pays the cab driver, “Here,” as she quickly gets out of the taxi, and begins to run to the café in her heels and knee-length skirt.

Raymond stands at the corner of the crosswalk, and looks down at his watch, “2:50,” he says to himself, as she smiled at the bouquet of white lilies in his right hand.

As Raymond scans around while waiting for the walk light, which would lead across to Clearwater Bay Café, his sight lands on another subject. Not a far distance from himself, he sees Edison walking over to the passenger seat and opens the door, as Rain steps out.

Raymond tries to look away, but suddenly sees a white van pull up not far from them, as men came pouring out with knives in hand, running towards Rain and Edison.

“Rain!” Raymond yells out as he tries to make his way through the traffic. As vehicles honked at him, Raymond quickly searches and shows his C.I.D. identification. Unknowingly, he had dropped the bouquet of white lilies onto the street, and as he continued to run towards Rain, vehicle after vehicle was going over the bouquet.

“Rain,” Edison calls out to her as he pushed her aside upon seeing the men coming up towards her. Through the process, Edison’s right hand was slashed by one of the six men, as he pushed them away.

“Edison,” Rain calls out as two men were running up towards her, and through the commotion, she sees a figure come up from behind and realizes it to be Raymond.

As Raymond goes to join Edison, Rain quickly dials her cell for help. Suddenly, one of the men having saw her call for help, tries to attack as her attention was strayed.

Raymond having blocked one man, notices, and alerts Rain, “Rain!” he quickly goes towards her, though having prevented Rain from being hurt, he gets cut on the lower left arm.

“Raymond, are you all right?” worries Rain, but before he could respond, police officers started appearing, running towards them.

As the six men takes notice to the arriving officers, they quickly returned to the white van and hurriedly drove off.

“Are you all right?” Rain asks Raymond, more distant.

“Yeah,” replies Raymond, but before he could say any more, was interrupted by an officer, and as he looked back, she was no longer there.

“Edison,” panics Rain, as she ran up to him. “Are you all right?” she asks, looking at his wound.

Edison did not answer, but just gave a grin.

Rain, seeing his expression, “What are you smiling about?” she asked, “I assumed most people who gets that long a cut would be in pain.”

“Yes, but it’s not everyday that a person can get so much care and concern from Rain Lee,” explains Edison.

Rain couldn’t help but smile, as Raymond watched them from afar.

Michelle finally reaches the café, but before entering, she quickly checks her hair and straightens her skirt.

As she walks into the café, she could see no sign of Raymond, as the waitress soon seated her.

After ordering an orange juice, Michelle continued to wait, hoping that Raymond too, had run late.

Having been waiting for quite some time and not wanting to be the one to call him, Michelle decides to wait another moment. Soon after, her cell rings, as she eagerly picks it up, “Hello?”

“Hey, Michelle?”

“Hey, Mimi,” responds Michelle, disappointed.

“What’s wrong?” asks Mimi, noticing Michelle’s tone, “Is your date not going well?”

“Raymond hasn’t shown up yet,” reveals Michelle.

“Are you serious?!” bewilders Mimi, “Maybe he’s stuck in traffic.”

“That’s what I thought too,” says Michelle, “but maybe it’s because he doesn’t want to come.”

“No, that can’t be a possibility,” assures Mimi, “Maybe he’s trying to contact you right now. I better hang up then. Good luck.”

“Thanks,” says Michelle as Mimi disconnected.

After hanging up her phone, Michelle places her cell at an angle to her drink so she could have full view of it at all times.

Finishing her second drink and waiting as time slowly passed her by, Michelle patiently awaits the arrival of Raymond.
