[Admiralty – Kowlong Water Way]

“Isn’t it nice here?” Gallen winked

“Compared to Petrus-the-best-French restaurant in town?” Flora raised her eyebrow quizzically

“Uh huh!” He lifted his chin “What do you think?”

“This food compared to the savory French cuisine over there?” She squint her eyes

“You don’t like this!” His face felt…

“Hey, where are you going with it?” She repressed a smile, calling after him as he got up and strode down the little pathway

“To the trash bin, where else?” He replied with a sign “May as well throw myself in there, too!”

“Hold on!” She stood up and tagged along, twirling a few strands of hair around her finger “Is it big enough?”

“What’s big enough?”

“The trash bin!” She grinned

“To hold me, you mean?” He grumbled in his throat

“Yes,” she laughed merrily

“Why would you accept me one minute just to dump me the next?” He wheeled around and almost crashed into her, for she stood there so close behind him.

She looked up with dove eyes that melted him into water… “Don’t worry, I’ll join you in there!”

She made him laugh! Such a way to express herself! “Join me in the trash bin?”

“Yes!” She said, crystal eyes reflected only his image… “anywhere, even Hell!”

“Why not in Heaven?” His eyes twinkled suggestively, making her blush

“You!” She snatched the plate of food on his hand and hurried to an aversion “Let’s eat, I’m hungry!”

He stopped her “Let’s go back to Petrus… I don’t think you appreciate this food here, and I don’t want you to be starved on our first date…”

“Okay!” She threw the plate blindly, but it landed perfectly into the bin. He widened his eyes “Good hand!”

She shrugged modestly “Well, it’s nothing! I’ve been practicing since young!”

“Practicing throwing out the food?” He widened his eyes a little more “I salute your parents...”

She laughed “No, silly… basketball!…” She kicked the pebbles playfully “Do you play, Gallen?”

“Well… some… volleyball... but I’m not too good” He shook his head and smiled sheepishly. His mind drifted back to that sunny afternoon on the beach by Nick’s summer house...

[Ada’s apartment]

Nick put down the magazine and gazed curiously at Flora who had just entered the apartment, smiling dreamily to herself…

“Love is in the air tonight!” Ada sang loudly and out of tune… Nick laughed.

Flora startled and acknowledged the other two, at last. “Hi there! Nick Gor, you’re still here?” Her smile was still everywhere, on her lips, in her eyes, even in the way she walked.

“Where did you two go?” Nick acted in a perfect accusing tone “I came back and you guys left without me!?

“Oh!” She fumbled in her little handbag “I’m sorry about your chin.” Nick touched his face in a voluntary reflex “I found some oilmen for it, Nick Gor!”

“This?” Nick scratched his head perplexedly

“Just put some on, you’ll feel better!” Flora nodded and continued her way down toward the washroom.

Nick stared at the pinkish little jar in his hand. “Beat me, but I don’t think this is good for my chin!”

Ada leaned over to take a look. “L’Oreal Lip Gloss? Hahaha… Oh oh… love is in the air…”

“Spare me, Ada!” Nick groaned with his hands over his ears

“Fine!” She threw her head back and laughed merrily. Nick shook his head and reached for the remote controller and flipped on the stereo.

“It’s 98.3 FM night time light music. It’s time for dedication. Message for Flora Chan Wai San from Jerry: “Flora, I knew I love you before I met you, there on Darling Harbour. You brought ‘life’ back into my life. Sweet dream tonight!”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Isn’t it.. Isn’t it our Flora Chan Wai San?” Nick raised an eyebrow, to which Ada nodded “Jerry is Gallen allright!”

The melody floated across the little living room, down the hall, reaching the lovebird

"Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant

I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe........

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I've found you

… I knew I loved you before I met you... (*)

“Never known Dr. Lo could be this mushy!” Ada exclaimed

“He learns from the best!” Nick said smugly

“Urg!” Ada pretended to hurl up

“Shhhh…” Nick hushed “Nice music! Appreciate it, will you?”

Ada shook her head “I’d rather go to sleep!”

“Isn’t there a single romantic bone on your body?” Nick sighed

“Sorry Dr. Cheung!” Ada sighed just as dramatic “I’m afraid not! Now aren’t you supposed to get going?”

“It’s still early!” Nick didn’t flinch “And we don’t have to work tomorrow!”

“But I am rather sleepy” Ada whined “Go home Nick Gor!”

“This is how you treat your boss and colleague?” Nick asked in shock

“Do you want me to treat you as my boss, or as my colleague?” Ada pouted

“Neither!”

“Huh?”

“I want to be your friend, Ada! Your best friend.” He paused, then asked quickly “Your more-than-best friend!”

Ada jumped and felt off the coach. She hastily got herself up and stared at Nick as if he had just arrived from Mars.

[Nu – Soho]

“Annie!” Gallen picked his sister up, scolding worriedly “Why did you drink so much, Sai Mui? You don’t know how to drink!”

“I know” she laughed, the alcohol made her voice hoarse “I know how to drink, Dai Gor! Right, Kevin?”

“You’re going to get a good lecture from Mom and Dad if I bring you home, Annie!” Gallen sighed “Where could I hide you now?”

Kevin leaned against the wall, quite drunk himself. He grumbled something incoherently. Gallen shook his head…

“Kevin, get into my car, I’ll drop you home!”

“I’m okay!” He snickered “I want to be alone!”

“Are you going to drink more Kevin?” Annie mumbled “I’ll join you!”

“None of you is going to stay here!” Gallen said firmly “Kevin, let’s go!”

“No!” came the stubborn response. “Take care of your sister and leave me alone!”

“I’m not going home Dai Gor!” Annie waved her hand wildly “Drink with us, Dai Gor!”

“He’s not going to!” Kevin objected “He has to go back for Flora, right?”

“Right!” Annie cried excitedly

“Huh?” Gallen chuckled “I don’t know what you two are talking about. You’re so drunk already.”

After a little struggle, Gallen managed to shepherd the two drunk, kicking-and-yelling young people into his car and sped away from the pub and toward the direction of Kevin’s house.

“Annie!” he nudged his sister when there were only the two of them left in the car “Annie, what’s wrong? Why did you drink?”

“Huh…”

“I asked why did you drink”

“Kevin drinks.” Annie stirred on her seat without open her eyes “He’s not happy!”

“Why?” Gallen frowned

“Because you kissed Flora jie!” Annie’s lips curved into a lazy smile

"What?" Gallen was taken aback "How could you guys see... How could you... You weren't even there..."

“I like it…" His sister ignored him and ranted on dreamily "It was so romantic, Dai Gor… Like in a movie!” The smile disappeared “But Kevin wasn’t happy… He drank glass after glass, and so I said I would join him…”

“Silly you!” Gallen bit his lips “See what you’ve done, sis! Now I can’t bring you home, or we’ll both going to get into trouble!”

“Where are we going?” Annie rubbed her temple “I’m so sleepy!”

“I’ll bring you over to Ada and Flora’s place then, Annie! Just be nice and sleep there, I’ll tell Mom and Dad you’re on call at the hospital tonight!”

“You’re going to tell lie” Annie giggled “You’re so bad!”

“Thank to you!”
