Eun Suh: *to herself* Oh my! It is really him! How long has he been here? Wait a minute! Don’t get so carried away, Eun Suh. He’s probably waiting for his girlfriend who just happens to stay here…yeah, that should be it….He couldn’t be…I mean, after all, who am I?
Won Bin: Eun Suh! Why are you walking towards the opposite direction? Didn't you see me?
Eun Suh: *gasps* You mean you’re really here to fetch me?
Won Bin: *chuckles* I’m not a guy who breaks promises….Come on, hop in!
Eun Suh: *blush* I have two legs, you know. I can walk there on my own. Thank you very much.
Won Bin: *rolls his eyes up* I’ll open the doors for you….
Eun Suh: *laughs* I know how to already!
Won Bin: *challenges* Oh really? I’m not too sure about that….
Eun Suh: Fine! I’ll show you then!
Eun Suh opened the door with ease as she had observed how Won Bin did it the other time. She wasn’t going to embarrassed by him again this time. However, she was caught off guard after opening the door. Without warning, Won Bin playfully shoves her inside the car and she felt her heartbeat stopped when he leaned over to put the seat belt on her. Their eyes met for a split second but Eun Suh quickle looks away. And when he flashes her a smile, it immediately sent her to the moon. Eun Suh didn’t know what had gotten over her but she had never felt this way about a guy before. Somehow, Won Bin seems to be making an impact on her. Is she being attracted to him? At that thought, Eun Suh began to worry even more. She had never fallen in love before and to even think that there’s a possibility that she might be falling for Won Bin scares her off completely. After all, she still remembered Gillian’s warning and she knew that she could not fall for him. Never.
Won Bin: Hello! Why are you so quiet suddenly? You’re angry aren’t you? Okay, okay…I’m sorry. But there was no other way to force you in!
Eun Suh: *quietly* You don’t have to fetch me, Won Bin. I can walk…Really, no trouble at all.
Won Bin: I know I don’t have to but I really want to. I’ve told you before, didn’t I? I can’t let a beautiful girl like you walk by yourself….you could be hurt, you know?
Eun Suh: Look, I’m really flattered with what you’re trying to do but please don’t. Go pick on other targets. I’m not worth your time.
Her words hit Won Bin like a pile of bricks falling on his head. This girl totally caught him off guard for being so straightforward. Normally, girls would go all over him if he shows even the slightest interest. However, with Eun Suh is a complete different story. Won Bin knew he didn’t exactly have a good reputation. After all, he’s been changing partners as if they’re his clothes. None of his relationships were serious and most of them only lasted a few days and the most a few weeks. Eun Suh has made an impact of him and the worst thing is that she didn’t realize it at all. There were butterflies in his stomach whenever he sees her and being so close to her made her heart beat so fast that he felt as if his heart is trying to jump out from his mouth. Won Bin actually believes that he is finally falling in love for the first time but he also has doubts over his feelings. Could he be interested in Eun Suh simply because she’s hard to get and that to woo her would be a challenge for him? Won Bin didn’t know and that was the reason why he needs to get to know her more.
Won Bin: I know I don’t have a good reputation and I don’t blame you for being scared of me. But I really want to get to know you because you’re special, Eun Suh. I really hope we can still be friends.
Eun Suh: *hesitates* I…
Won Bin: *looks at her with puppy eyes* Please?
All Eun Suh really wanted to do was to stay as far away as she can from him because she was afraid that the worst would happen. Won Bin’s presence alone is already starting to affect her and if they were to spend more time together, the more risks she would have to face. Perhaps, it is better to end their relationship before it gets any further. However, looking at Won Bin, she could not have the heart to say no. She couldn’t give up on this friendship just because of her own insecurities. After all, Won Bin had done nothing bad to her and although she hated to admit it, she was touched by his sincerity. Therefore, all Eun Suh could do now is to make a mental note to keep her feelings in check.
Eun Suh: *sighs* How can I say no? You’re a good friend to have, just make sure you don’t hit on me! I’m not a girl for you to play around, Won Bin. That’s a warning.
Won Bin: *chuckles* Yes Madam! I’ll try my best. Just stop being so beautiful, okay?
Eun Suh: *laughs* I’ll try!
Won Bin: Well, I’ve got to head down to my classes now. See you at lunch later?
Eun Suh: *smiles* Sure!
Won Bin: By the way, by being friends you’ll have to accept my rides to classes every morning! I’ll be waiting for you!
Eun Suh: What? No!
Won Bin: *winks* What are friends for? Don’t be late tomorrow morning! See ya!
Won Bin walked away before Eun Suh could protest any further. He hated himself for having such a terrible reputation in the university. For once, he was not proud of his reputation at all. Due to that, he had completely blown his chances with Eun Suh. For the first time ever, he actually finds himself respecting a girl. Usually, he showed no respect to any girls because they were all so cheap as they practically throw themselves at him. As much as he wanted to kiss Eun Suh back then, he had managed to control himself, not because he didn’t want to but because he respected her. His thoughts were disturbed when he felt a hand sling across his shoulders. Thinking that it is one of those sluttish girls, Won Bin annoyingly pushes the hand away.
Voice: Whoa! What has gotten into our young Master Won Bin?
Won Bin: *gasps* Edison? The Edison Chen?
Ed: *laughs* Yeah, miss me?
Won Bin: How are you, brother?
Ed: Well, I’m better than ever! Thanks for visiting me the other day at the hospital…
Won Bin: *sighs* You better take care of your health. You’re forever missing lectures! You’ve already missed 3 weeks of classes already! Really, it’s a blessing that you have such a great brain! I still remembered how you managed to do so well in school when you were pratically absent the whole time!
Ed: *laughs* You’re starting to turn into the green little monster again!
Won Bin: What? I’m not jealous…I just wish that I have brains like yours, even half of them would do me good!
Ed: *laughs* Well, perhaps if you shift your focus onto your books instead of the girls, you might just well have succeeded! You know you shouldn’t be in the same class with me! Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?
Won Bin: *laughs* That word reminded me of Gillian. You know what she said to me the other day? She said that I couldn’t be ashamed of myself because my skin is as thick as the elephant’s!
Ed: *giggles* Well, it is true!
Won Bin: What? Hey! At least I get to meet different people each term and best of all, at least you have someone to look after you!
Ed: *laughs* I’m capable of taking care of myself, thank you. I don’t know why you’re always getting on Gill’s case anyway? You two are forever quarreling with each other!
Won Bin: *sighs* What? She started it first! You better talk to that girl…she’s forever getting on my case!
Ed: Sorry, can’t help you on that. The reason she is at least being decent to me is because of Charlene. She probably hates me as much as she hates you because she’s always trying to talk Char into breaking our friendship.
Won Bin: What? That Gill is really too much but I bet she’s wasting her time! Everyone knows how close you two are! You’re each other’s soul mates! You need each other like..like….the dog needs his bone.
Ed: *laughs* The dog what? Really Won, you need to work on your phrases! They’re terrible!
Won Bin: Urrgghh! You know what I mean! Where’s Char anyway?
Ed: Now, now…don’t you start again. We’re just friends. She went off with Gill already.
Won Bin: *rolls his eyes* That’s what they all say!
Ed: Enough about me. So, who’s your new target this term?
Won Bin: *sticks out his tongue* I’m not telling!
Ed: Hmm…any chances of her being the new Korean student?
Won Bin: How did you…I mean, I’m not telling you!
Ed: *giggles* I knew it! So, how long is this going to take? A day? A week? An hour?
Won Bin: *blurts out* Forever!
Ed: Wow! My friend is finally falling in love! For the first time, ever! So, tell me. Who is she? What is her name? What is she studying? Is she pretty?
As Edison continued to bombard him with questions about Eun Suh, Won Bin pretended to ignore him as they make their way to their classes. Edison is his best friend since childhood and they were inseparable. Because Edison is an only child, he looks up to Won Bin and practically worships him. Enjoying the attention, Won Bin decided to make sure that he will look after Edison and protects him as a big brother would. However, the two best friends are of the complete opposite. For one, as opposed to Won Bin, Edison never had a girlfriend before. It is not because he couldn’t get one, it was because he didn’t want one. To him, having a relationship with someone is sacred and he will only commit himself in a relationship when he is sure that he has found the one. Although Won Bin loves to have the spotlight on him, Edison hated to be in the center of attention especially during their family functions. He could only wish that the floor would open up and swallow him in. Still, despite their differences, their friendship is still going on very strong. This is mainly because the both of them knew each other so well that there wasn’t any need for words to understand each other. Won Bin knew he could always count on Edison and vice versa.
Again, Eun Suh got lost as she tries to find way to her class. This university is huge and it was difficult for Eun Suh to remember her way around even though the principle had shown it to her the other day. She walks aimlessly in the hallways until she bumped into someone familiar. She was relieved to see him because if she wasted another minute, she would’ve been late for class.
Nic: *chuckles* You’re lost, again?
Eun Suh: *blush* Yes, I’m afraid so.
Nic: What Year are you in?
Eun Suh: Year 3, Psychology.
Nic: Get out of here! You’re kidding me right?
Eun Suh: *surprise* Actually, no.
Nic: *pumps his fist into the air* Yahoo!
Eun Suh: Why are you so happy?
Nic: *smiles apologetically* Guess, it is fate. I’m in Year 3, Psychology too! Come on, I’ll show you the way.
Eun Suh: *relieves* Thank you.
Nic: It’s my pleasure.
Nic couldn’t believe that he met up with Eun Suh again because his last meeting with her left quite an impact on him. He couldn’t get her out of his mind and he even went to the extent to ask Gillian about her. Oh yes, he actually asked Gillian, his sister whom he has not spoken to in years. Unfortunately, Gillian didn’t really know much about her and was not much help to him. However, his sprits were lifted up when he spotted Eun Suh in the hallways the very next day. He was even happier to know that she will be in the same class as he is. That would at least, give him more opportunities to really get to know her. Summing up all his courage, he decided to ask Eun Suh to join him for lunch but was quite disappointed when she said that she’ll be seeing Won Bin during lunch. Again, he was a step too late.
Eun Suh: *not noticing his disappointment* You can join us, if you want. I’m sure Won Bin wouldn’t mind.
Nic: *curtly* No
Eun Suh: Umm…well, sorry if I offended you or something….I…
Nic: *softly* It’s not your fault. So umm…how about tomorrow? I accompany you to your classes? You’re staying in the girls’ dorm right? I can drive you down, if you don’t mind.
Eun Suh: *blush* Well, actually….Won Bin insisted on fetching me to the university every morning. I'm trying to say no to him but he seems really determined. Umm…maybe we can meet in the hallways?
Nic: *hurt* Well, okay I guess.
Eun Suh: Thanks! You’re the best!
Nic: *mumbles* Won Bin! Won Bin! Won Bin! Uuurrgghh! I hate that guy! What does he have that I don’t? First, Jessica, then Charmaine and now he want Eun Suh too? Aaarrgghh!
Eun Suh: Huh? What did you say?
Nic: Oh, nothing...
Eun Suh: Umm...can I ask you another favor? Can you show me where the cafeteria is later?
Nic: Sure, no problem.
Eun Suh: Thanks. You sure you don't want to join us?
Nic: *force a smile* Yeah, I'm sure. What are friends for after all, right?
