Gill: *sighs* Do I love him?
Char: *giggles* Of course you do!
Gillian blushed deeply when she realized what she had done. She was so deep in her thoughts that she has forgotten that she was with the gang at the cafeteria. Without realizing, she had blurted out those words and had all of them staring back at her, in shock. She turned even redder when her eyes met Edison’s. Embarassed, she took off from the cafeteria without another word. The gang broke into laughters with her reaction, except Edison who couldn't catch what was going on.
Char: *laughs* That’s your sign, Ed! Go after her!
Ed: What do you mean?
Won Bin: *laughs* Why are you always so clueless? It’s so obvious that she likes you!
Ed: Me?
Char: Remember about me helping you out?
Ed: But how did you get to her? She’s as hard as a rock! Oh my, you’re truly a magician! Thank you!
Char: Don’t thank me. All I did was to dig up all those feelings that the two of you had buried inside your hearts! I’ve told Gill already so I’m going to tell you the same thing now. Don’t be too proud to admit how you really feel, Ed!
Won Bin: Well, what are you waiting for? Go after her!
Ed: Thanks! I’ll always remember this, Char! You’re my bestest friend! *runs off*
Char: *smiles* Good luck!
Won Bin: *teases* Just remember to come back to class! Don’t get too carried away with all the kissing!
Eun Suh: *giggles* I thought you hated Gill and that she’s not good enough for Ed….
Won Bin: Well, I guess they’ll have you to thank!
Eun Suh: What do you mean?
Won Bin: *holds her hands* If you could give me, a well-known player a chance, why couldn’t I give Gill a chance? You’ve changed everything ever since you came into my life, Eun Suh. Thank you for that. I love you. I know I’ve said it a zillion times but I’m going to say it over and over again because I don’t want you to ever forget that.
Eun Suh: *blush* Won! Char’s here!
Won Bin: So? I have a free will to declare my love!
Char: *laughs* So, I think I’m going to puke with you going all mushy over Eun Suh!
Won Bin: Hey! But well, can’t expect you to know what it is to fall in love!
Eun Suh: Won! Don’t be so rude!
Char: *giggles* It’s okay, Eun Suh. No hard feelings. Well, anyway, I really have to say this. I’ve never seen Won Bin being so serious over a girl before…. I’m glad you came along, Eun Suh. It sort of broke my heart to see how he mercilessly breaks all those girls’ heart!
Won Bin: Hey! Don’t spoil my reputation!
Char: *laughs* Won, you better take care of her properly. Because if you do not, you’ll have me to answer to!
Won Bin: And why is that?
Eun Suh: *laughs* Because she’s the reason I’m with you in the first place! Actually, Char had approached me personally and assured me that you really are serious this time and that I should really give you a chance…
Won Bin: Really, Char….Are you sure you’re in the right stream? You should study Psychology like Eun Suh!
Char: *jokingly* Well, I’m already a pro in psychology so why waste my time?
Won Bin: Very funny, kid. Just one advice though, don’t get too carried away with other people’s happiness. It’s time you find your own, Char.
Char: *winks* Well, I’ll keep that in mind! You guys enjoy being mushy; I’ll head off to class early before I actually puke!
Charlene walked away from the table, letting her tears flow freely when she’s alone. She was only putting up a brave front but inside of her, she was crumbling into pieces. She has practically wrapped Edison, someone she loves with all her heart, as a gift and present it to Gillian. It was hard when she had to deny her feelings for Edison when Gillian questioned her about it. But it was even harder, trying to convince Gillian of her feelings for Edison when Charlene, herself has already fallen so hard for him. She was devastated at the thought of them being together but she knew it was only for the best. She knew exactly what Won Bin meant when he said those words. She had put aside her own happiness for Edison and Gillian but to Charlene, she felt it was all worth it.
Edison felt his heart beat faster and he frantically look for Gillian around the university. He has been thinking a lot of Gillian lately, after the conversation with Charlene. He knew he really have Charlene to thank to if this works out between them. He heaved a sigh of relief when he finally spotted her under a big oak tree. Edison sat beside her and for a moment neither of them utter a single word. Finally, it was Gillian who broke the ice between them.
Gill: You know, I met Daniel the other day….
Edison could only nod his head in silence, as he definitely did not expect Gillian to talk about Daniel. In the past, Gillian could not even hear the mention of Daniel’s name; let alone talk about him. Suddenly, he began to have doubts in his mind. What if they have all mistaken Gillian? What if the one Gillian love is still Daniel and never him? Edison dared not put his hopes too high and prepared himself to be rejected by her. However, all that changed when Gillian continued and Edison realized that he might actually still have a chance.
Gill: *continues* And he’s still with the slut I caught him in bed with. However, for the first time ever, he looked really happy. He was practically glowing with love, something I’ve never seen when I was with him. That’s when I realized something. Daniel and I was never meant to be….I never made him happy and vice versa. We were wrong, right from the start.
Ed: *smiles* I’m glad you finally come to your senses, Gill….
Gill: I’m over him, Ed! I’m officially over him! I didn’t know I could until I met them because instead of anger, I actually felt really happy for them. In fact, the three of us even sat down and have coffee together! Can you imagine that? That’s how I know that I’ve gotten over Daniel and that I was never in love with him to begin with. It was all just a mistake.
Ed: I’m happy for you. Whatever that is in the past, just leave it there. The most important thing is now.
Gill: *smiles* That’s why I’m going to appreciate everything I have now and start living the day as if it is my last so that I will not have any regrets later! Ed, thank you for being the reason behind this new-found me…I…..
Gillian knew that she had wasted too much time living her life in anger and hatred. She no longer wants to make the same mistake again. If Daniel is happy, why couldn’t she be happy too? And Gillian knew that the only person who can make her happy is Edison. Gillian was going to confess her true feelings when Shawn came in between them. Immediately, Gillian felt her blood boiling with anger. She has found out something horrible about the group and immediately opted out. Although she is rebellious, she still wasn’t ready to do anything that is against the law.
Voice: Oww! Look! If it isn’t Cinderella and her prince charming!
Gill: Get a life, Shawn!
Shawn: I already have one, thank you very much! *casting a glance at Ed* So, pretty boy here is the reason why you don’t hang out with us anymore, huh?
Gill: *angrily* Lay off him, Shawn. You know very well the reason why I don’t hang out with you anymore!
Shawn: Come on, Gillie! It was only drugs! Everyone does it! Why the big hoo-haa over it?
Gill: I don’t do anything that is against the law. You’re lucky that I don’t report you to the authorities!
Shawn: You wouldn’t dare….
Gill: Try me!
Shawn: Well, because if you do, I’m going to make sure you’ll pay for it. Or hmmm…perhaps pretty boy here should pay for it?
Gill: Don’t you dare…..
Shawn: *laughs* Touchy! Touchy! My Gillie! Protecting another guy!
Gill: I’m not yours!
Ed: *takes her hands* Come on, let’s go. We don’t have to waste our time talking to him!
Shawn: Don’t be a hero, Edison Chen. Nobody gets away with stealing my girl!
Gillian took up her hand, ready to give Shawn a tight slap when Edison pulled her away. Edison took her hands and they walked off together, ignoring Shawn’s taunts. Edison knew better than to offend Shawn any further because he knew that he is capable of doing anything. Only when they’re safely back in the university building did Edison heaved a sigh of relief. He was not worried about his safety but rather for the safety of Gillian. He couldn’t let Shawn harm her in any way.
Gill: Umm, Ed…Do you mind? * pointing to his hand which is still holding on to hers*
Ed: *blush* Sorry.
Gill: It’s okay. So, why didn’t you let me put a stop to Shawn’s babbling?
Ed: I..err…I didn’t want you to get hurt. Look Gill, I really don’t want to put this off any longer. I’m not good with words so I’m going to say this right out. Would you allow me to protect you?
Gill: *laughs* I don’t need any protectors! I can look after myself, thank you!
Ed: *disappointed* Oh…
Gill: *shyly* But I do need someone to love me….
Ed: *smiles* You do?
Gill: *laughs* Why are you so happy? I’ll probably get a puppy or a kitten or…
Ed: *blurts out* Gillian Chung! I love you!
Gill: *blush* Do you really mean that?
Ed: From the bottom of my heart. Please give me a chance to love you?
Gill: Well…I was only planning to get a puppy or a kitten but since you…
Ed: *carries and spins her around* I’ll take that as a yes!
Gill: *giggles* Put me down! There are people here!
Ed: So? If I can, I want to let the whole world know that I love you!
Gill: I didn’t say I love you!
Ed: *winks* But you will soon. I’ll make sure of that.
There were mixed reactions as a crowd gathered around to see Edison and Gillian. Some were happy for them but some looked disgusted at the pairing. After all, Edison and Gillian are both from different worlds. Who could have imagined? The clean cut Edison Chen with the rebellious Gillian Chung? They were of the complete opposite and yet they fell in love in love. However, among the crowd there is one whose heart is broken into pieces and another whose heart is filled with revenge. Both Edison and Gillian couldn’t care less because they were finally in each other’s arms, where they belong. Opposites do attract after all.
