I held onto him tightly as the tears stream down my eyes like a nonstop waterfall, I knew this was the last time I’ll get to see him and hold him like this. I didn’t want to leave him but I had no other choice, I have to sacrifice myself for my father’s company.
Milly: (crying) Sorry.
Seung Hyun: Don’t be. I know you’re hurting more than me.
Milly: only a year okay, wait for me I’ll be back by your side after a year. (She touched his wet cheek)
Seung Hyun: (nodded) I’ll wait for you every single day of my life, until the day you return to my side
Milly: I don’t want to leave you like this. (She wraps her arm around him)
Seung Hyun: I don’t want you to get marry too. (He hugged her back)
After that day my mother dressed me in a beautiful white wedding dress, she told me that I was a beautiful bride but when I look in the mirror all I can see is pain. I may be a beautiful bride on the outside but deep inside I felt like I was dying. I had dreams of me wearing this beautiful wedding dress and walking slowly to where my sweet Seung Hyun was standing but today that person that I’ll promise to love until death do us part is a stranger, a man I never seen before. Why am I willing to marry a stranger? Do you want to know the reason why I’m willing to leave the person I love and marry a man whom I never meet?
My father build his company and has put a lot of love into it, now that we’re having financial problem, my fathers company may crash down, and the only way to keep it safe is for me to marry Mr. Kwon’s son. Mr. Kwon own a very big company in Korea, he has business all around Asia and when he first met me at the office he liked me a lot and has asked my parent if they would be willing to let me marry his only son. Mr. Kwon told my father that if I marry his son than he’ll help my father managed all the financial problems, on the day that my parent told me the news I broke down into tears and my father did too. I said no and refuse the marriage but my father got on his knee and beg me, I look at my father who was such a excellent man begging his own daughter to save his company I couldn’t bear it and had to agree to it.
Seung Hyun and I have been together for 3 beautiful years, he wasn’t a rich man and my parent didn’t agree me to date him but I didn’t listen to them. He understand me a lot and loves me more than anyone else I know, when I told him the news he was very upset but he couldn’t be upset with me for long, finally he came to me with tears in his eyes and asked me if I would be coming back. As I held onto him I told him that I will, just a year married to that stranger than I’ll divorce him and come back to be by Seung Hyun’s side. We both promised each other and even though he said yes to the marriage I knew his heart is saying no each time it’s beating for me.
It was time for me to walk out of the changing room and start the wedding, my mother held my hand as she walk me to the doorway of entering the room.
Mom: Smile okay. (She said and walk into the room leaving me there standing and waiting for the signal to enter the room.
I stood there with tears, I took a deep breath and walk slowly into the room following the little cute flower girl. I stare at the ground as I make my entry, everybody stood up as I enter the church, I lift my head up and I saw that stranger that I was going to marry he was tall, wearing a black suit. Tears were beginning to fill my eyes but I took another breath and force myself not to cry I reach to where he was standing and he put his hand out for me. I stare at his hand for a second and forced myself to hold his hand, we both promise each other to love one another until death do us part. After the ceremony we both held hand in hand and walk slowly out of the church, families and friends threw beautiful flower over us as we walk toward the car; I lift my head higher and saw Seung Hyun from far away. He was dressed in a suit, it was my first time to see him like this I wanted to run to him and get on his motorcycle and drive away from here but I knew I couldn’t. Tears stream down my eyes as I lock eyes with him, he was smiling but I could see the tears falling down his eyes. That stranger who is my husband now and I got to where the car was park, I force myself to get into the car and we drove off. I wipe my tears so that stranger wouldn’t notice my crying.
We arrive to our so-call new house; I enter the house after he opens the doors. I look around the big house as I enter it, the stranger walk past me and into the bathroom, I was afraid to be in a house with a stranger who I have to call my husband now. After he came out of the bathroom he walk to the kitchen and grab a water bottle.
“Go get change, you must be tired.” He said to me and I didn’t say anything back “I brought you new clothes in the room, after you take a shower go try on the clothes.” He walks to the door. “Don’t wait for me, I’ll be working late.” He walked out of the house.
I walk slowly to the bedroom, which was that stranger and mine; I open the closet and look at all the brand new clothes that he said he brought for me. I grab a shirt and a pants and threw it on the bed, I sat on the chair looking at the mirror as I slowly try to take off the little crown on my head and the jewelries, tears stream down my eyes as I slowly take it off one by one. I sat there starring at myself in the mirror and reminisce about me and Seung Hyun’s past.
[FLASHBACK]
(1st time meeting 3 years ago)
It was a raining day and the gray clouds was invading the white clouds. I ran to find a place to hide until the rain stops but as I was running and getting wet a bunch of guys ran toward my way and past me; I turn around and look at them as they ran in a distance and without looking where I was walking a thug-looking guy bump into me and lay flat on top of me as I lay under him. My eyes didn’t blink, as I look at him laying on top of me and facing me so close, I could feel and hear him breath. He got up from me and pulled me up, a dozen of guys ran to where we both were standing and circled us. Even though I didn’t know who he was I felt safe for the first time, he grab my hand and pull me behind me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him for a second, he was very handsome and even though he looked like a bad boy I felt that he would protect me. Their were probably a dozen of guys surrounded us and they had bats in their hand, he started to fight them all at once and he gotten hit a bunch of time but he was so strong that he continue on fighting with them after a while those guys that ran toward me before came back and when they saw that the guy who was protecting me was fighting all by himself, they came and helped him. He was holding onto my hands as he kick the other guy from the other group, when he turn to look at me if I was all right he saw a guy who was about to hit me he ran and covered me into his arm and received the hit. I looked at him as he lay on my lap after the hit, I didn’t know what to do but cry and that same guy that hit him lift his bat again and was about to hit him again and I didn’t want to see him hit so I hugged him and I received the hit, I couldn’t remember anything all I could remember was him yelling at me if I was all right.
He took me to his small house where he lives with 2 of his friends Dae Sung and Seung Ri, he wipe my face and took off my shirt as I lay on the bed. He flips me over so he could apply the medicine on my back. I was too hurt to say anything, so I fell asleep 4 hours past and it was really late already I finally woke up and look at myself.
Seung Hyun: you’re awake? (He enter the room)
Milly: (I look at him without blinking)
Seung Hyun: Are you okay now? (He asked)
Milly: (I grab the blanket and covered my chest) why did you?
Seung Hyun: sorry but I had to take your shirt off, if I didn’t than I wouldn’t be able to apply the medicine. (He said to me and touched my forehead) Your fever went down, that’s good.
Milly: (I stared at him, his hair was wet so I guess he just got out of the shower; he had some bruises on his face but he seems to be fine) are you okay?
Seung Hyun: yeah, I’m good are you?
Milly: (I nodded)
Seung Hyun: The name’s Seung Hyun, you can call me Seung Hyun.
Milly: Seung Hyun? (I said his name) My name is…
Seung Hyun: your name is Milly.
Milly: how did you know my name?
Seung Hyun: here (He handed me my bag) I went through your bag sorry about that.
Milly: (I smiled) it’s okay.
Seung Hyun: are you hungry?
Milly: I nodded
Seung Hyun: I made some food, stay here I’ll bring the food here. Put the clothes on (he handed me a sweat pants and a t-shirt and walk out)
Milly: (I slowly got out of the bed and look at the clothes he gave me) wow. (I looked at the big shirt and the big sweat pants) it must belong to him. (I said and put it on)
Seung Hyun: (enter the room and stared at me) sorry it’s big.
Milly: it’s fine. (I said holding the pant so it wouldn’t fall down)
Seung Hyun: (He smiled) here eat this. (He feed me the porridge)
Milly: (I look at his face carefully and thought to myself) MILLYS THOUGHTS: he looks like a thug but he’s actually a nice guy.
After that day I started liking him, and I was afraid he wouldn’t like me back. He and his friends were like thugs getting into fights with other group on the street all the time but whenever I’m with him he protect me. After he found out that I liked him he lied to me that he didn’t like me; it broke my heart and tear stream down my eyes.
Seung Hyun: sorry but I don’t like girls like you.
Milly: I understand, I’m not good enough for you. (I said without looking at him, and suddenly the tears started falling down my eyes)
Seung Hyun: are you crying? (he laugh) why?
Milly: I’m not, you fool why would I cry (I wipe my tears quickly and look at him) I’m…I’m going home. (I walk away)
Seung Hyun: (He grab my hand and pull me into his arm) I don’t like you but I love you, does that count? (He said hugging me)
Milly: (I was shocked, too shocked)
Seung Hyun: (he gently let loose of me and look at me) I love you. (He said and than his lips touched mine)
