My Type of Girl! [Completed]

Chapter 15

Looking out at the vast waters, Michelle stood outside of the ferry, recalling the event of the night before. Sighing to herself, she looks down at her cup of water as she turns to head back inside.

Upon heading in, still caught in a daze, she does not notice anyone ahead of her.

“Oh, sorry,” Michelle clumsily bumps into the person in front of her, spilling her cup of water forward. Looking up to apologize, she sees Raymond.

“Hey,” Raymond awkwardly greets, as he looks at his damp shirt.

“I’m so sorry,” Michelle apologizes once more, trying to help dry the wet spot with her tissue.

Raymond smiles, “It’s okay. I think you’ve said ‘sorry’ quite a few times now,” he recalls from the day before.

“Here you go,” Ron greets, handing Leila a cup of orange juice as he takes his seat next to her.

“Thanks,” Leila acknowledges, turning from the window to him. “Ron, is it just me or do you think that everyone seems to be acting overly awkward with one another.”

Ron, having not notice, “I didn’t notice anything.”

“Really,” Leila questions. “I mean, usually it is awkward between Michelle and Raymond, but their awkwardness today doesn’t have tension,” she analyzes. “And Rain and Edison…”

“What about you?” Ron interrupts her. “Don’t just think about what’s going with your friends,” he finally initiates. “Last night, you said I could ask you anything, and you would answer. I want to ask you about your relationship.”

Leila surprised by his sudden question, then smiles, “I don’t have one, you know that.”

“Well, what do you look for in one?” Ron openly asks.

Looking at Ron with a weird expression, “You seem really direct today,” Leila points out, but goes on to answer his question. “Hmm… what I look for in a guy.” Then after a moment’s thought, she smiles dreamily to herself, “My ideal guy is someone who I can talk to. I don’t even have to know what he looks like. He could be someone I met online and yet be able to feel close to. I just need to know that he’s there for me, and is there to share my ups and downs, my dreams, everything.”

Sitting outside the ferry, Rain sits back in her chair and lets the soft wind blow against her face. Feeling the warm sun heat her up, she is brought back to the sunrise that very morning. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by low music travelling in her direction.

Rain then gets up out of her seat and follows the sound of the music, slowly making out the song. As she turns the corner of the ferry, she sees a young man having his stereo playing the song of “My Only Love” to his girlfriend.

Seeing the romantic gesture, Rain could not help but smile in envy. The song then ends as she looks up and sees directly on the other side, Edison.

“You like ‘My Only Love’ too?” Edison asks, as Rain and him walks to a more isolated area on the ferry.

“Yeah, it’s really meaningful,” Rain explains, then laughs lightly at herself. “When the song first came out, I remember listening to it every moment of the day. Michelle was so annoyed and weeks later, even Leila got tired of listening to it.”

“So you stopped listening to it for their sake,” Edison assumes.

Rain thinks for a moment, then slowly shakes her head, “No. I just stopped listening to it.” Then changing the topic off herself, Rain asks, “How about you, I don’t think I know many guys who like these kind of songs.”

Edison laughs to the comment, “Well, as long as the song is good, I’m okay with being called feminine,” causing Rain to laugh out. Then being more serious, “No, I really do like the song. Though the lyrics are sad, you know that by the concluding of the song they’ll meet at the end.”

Before Rain had the chance to comment, she sees Raymond approaching behind Edison.

Giving a weak smile, Rain greets him, “Raymond.”

“Hey,” Raymond greets the Edison and her, as he walks up to Rain and takes her hand in his. “What are the two of you doing out here?”

Feeling awkward around the two, Edison excuses himself, “Well, I was just planning on going back in, so you two have nice time,” he bids, turning around before showing his disappointment.

Seeing Edison leave, Raymond turns his attention back to Rain, “So what were the two of you talking about?”

“Nothing,” Rain brushes off, “Just chatting.” Then noticing a stain on his shirt, “What happened to your shirt?”

Raymond, looking down at his shirt, “Oh, Michelle accidentally spilled some water on me, it’ll dry up soon.” Feeling the small sense of unease between them, he jokes, “Don’t worry, we didn’t get into an argument that ended with her splashing me with a cup of water.”

Rain smiles to the joke, “I hope not.”
