“Are you Miss Lee?” asked the chauffeur.
“Yup.”
“Mister Raymond said this gift is for you,” he informs, handing over a package to Rain, who takes it with both hands.
Though surprised, Rain politely takes it, “Thanks.”
After closing the door, Rain puts the package down on the dinner table, left to the door, and starts to open it.
“Did I hear the doorbell ring?” Leila asks, walking out of the washroom, hair wrapped in a towel.
“Who was it?” Michelle says, walking out of her room right behind Leila.
“Raymond sent this to me,” Rain explains, as she begins to open the box, revealing a soft yellow evening dress and small red box inside. On top of it, was a small letter, as Rain picked it up and read it:
Rain,
Sorry, I have some business to attend to before the party, so I can’t come and pick you up myself. Chris will be picking you up at around eight o’clock, I’ll meet you at the party then. Please forgive me.
Love Raymond
P.S. Hope you like the gift.
“Omigosh, it’s beautiful,” Leila mazes at the diamond bracelet, as Michelle stood next to her. “Rain, look, look,” Leila urges, walking over to Rain with the bracelet. Putting the small box into Rain’s hand, “Aww… he’s soooo sweet,” she gushes.
Rain, looking at the bracelet, though touched, did not feel as happy as Leila was feeling for her.
“Even I have to admit, he does treat you with a lot of thought and care,” Michelle says, showing even her unfavorable side.

“Okay, I have to go help Ron set up for the party tonight, so I’m gonna head out first,” Michelle bids, as she was about to walk out the door.
“Wait, wait,” Leila calls, running out of her bedroom, “I have to head back to mom’s first, can you give me a ride?”
“Does your escort know you’re going to be meeting him at Auntie’s, not here,” Michelle asks.
“His name is Edison, and yes, I did remember to tell him,” Leila informs.
“Okay, let’s go then,” Michelle says, opening the door, then making sure, “Rain, are you going to be okay?”
Rain, from her room, too busy to walk out, calls out to them, “Yeah, I’ll be fine, I’ll see you guys there.”
“Okey dokes, let’s go,” Leila says, beginning to walk out the door, “Don’t be late,” she warns Rain, one last time.
“Yup!”

“Hey, everything all set?” Edison asks Ron, “The guests are arriving.”
Ron, giving lasts order to the caterers, turns to Edison, “All set and ready to go,” he informs.
“Well, shouldn’t you be meeting up with your girlfriend then,” Edison asks, signaling towards Michelle, who too was also giving last minute orders. “I’m actually quite surprised the two of you are going out, I never knew you liked those type of girls.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?” Ron asks, eyeing Edison with suspicion.
“Nothing, just never knew you were into career-oriented woman,” Edison explains, “Always thought you were more into the simpler types.”
“Doesn’t hurt to see if this one works out,” Ron says, looking at the rather serious Michelle.
“Woah, what happened to ‘the one’,” Edison asked, surprised, “Gave up on that too?”
Ron looks at Edison and mocks, “Better than waiting to meet some girl you’ve only met once for like two minutes.”
“Whatever man,” Edison says, brushing off the topic, but before he could continue, his cell rings. “Hello?”

“Raymond, everything’s all set,” Ron informs Raymond, as Raymond just ended a conversation with one of the guests.
“Okay, thanks for helping me out man,” Raymond gratifies.
Ron smiles, “Honestly, we’re friends, don’t bother with these things. Hey, when is your new girlfriend coming?”
Raymond smiles to comment, “Right now, I better go out there and meet her, I want her to meet Mom and Dad before the party officially starts.”
“You for real aren’t you?” Ron realizes, “You’ve never introduced any of your other girls to your parents before.”
“Don’t know,” Raymond says with a smirk.

As Edison reaches the front doors and opens them, a girl appears right before him, in front of the door. Edison was stunned, as he looked at the girl, the very one whom he had bumped into at the front of Tin Ha’s building.
Rain, seeing that the guy in front of her was just looking dazed at her, didn’t say anything either, as she looked at him with confusion, then too recognizing him, “Hey, I remember you,” she finally recalls. “You’re the guy I bumped into when I went for my interview at Tin Ha.”
Edison, finally snapping out of the daze, “Uh… yeah, you’re the girl I almost knocked over.”
Rain giggles, “No, it was my fault, I wasn’t even watching where I was headed, I ran straight into you. But it is a small world, I didn’t think I’d be seeing you here.”
“You’re a guest of the Lam’s?” Edison asks, realizing that it was not common to be seeing Rain here.
“Yeah, actually-“ Rain starts, but before she could finish, was interrupted.
“Rain,” Leila calls out, as she approaches the front doors. Then seeing Edison, “Edison, you’re here too.”
Edison, only catching the name, “Rain…” he manages, remembering the familiar name.
Rain smiles, “Rain Lee,” she officially introduced herself to Edison, “And you’re Edison Chen, Leila mentioned you to Michelle and I numerous times.”
Edison, not knowing how to respond, only remembering the identity of Rain, does not see as Leila catches on to his reactions.
“Rain,” yet another call interrupts them, as Raymond approaches the three. As Raymond reaches them, he looks at Rain, in the soft, yellow evening dress he had bought for her, and “You look beautiful.”
Rain, blushes, “Thanks.”
Raymond, then quickly remembering, “Oh, I want you to meet some people,” he says, taking Rain’s hand and leading the way, “Edison, Leila, come.”

As Raymond led Rain into the ballroom, Rain is still oblivious as to what is happening or where Raymond was leading her to. Raymond then stops, and looks around. Spotting his parents, he quickly starts leading Rain to them.
“Mom, Dad,” Raymond starts, looking over at Rain, “This is my girlfriend, Rain Lee,” he introduces, as Rain takes in the surprise.
Not far off, Leila looks from Rain and Raymond, to the disappointed expression of Edison.
