My Type of Girl! [Completed]

by Hope

Chapter 8

“Wah,” Rain says, approaching her desk, bright and early in the morning, seeing a big bouquet of red roses before her eyes.

“Isn’t that sweet,” Fiona, an employee to Tin Ha, gushes to Rain, “What are you and Raymond celebrating today?”

Rain looks at Fiona and smiles mischievously, “Who says it’s Raymond?”

“Well, if it isn’t Mr. Lam, then I don’t know who would have such courage to try and go after his girlfriend,” Fiona taunts.

“Whatever, Miss Busybody,” Rain says, pushing Fiona away, “Get back to work lah.” As Fiona laughs at Rain’s blushing face and goes on her way, Rain turns to the bouquet of roses and smiles.

“Thank you very much Mr. Cheng,” Michelle says, shaking hands with the business associate across from her, as they stood outside a coffee shop.

After seeing off Mr. Cheng, Michelle too, heads across the street to where her car was parked. Upon seating herself in the car, and turning to put on her seatbelt, from the corner of her eye, she sees a pair walking towards the same coffee shop she left from. As she looks fully towards them, she sees that the pair turns out to be Raymond. But with Raymond, was not Rain, rather the girl she had encountered him with when they first unofficially met.

Before Michelle was able to get out to them, her cell phone rings, “Hello?” she asks, rather annoyed.

“Michelle?” Ron called from the other end, “Is everything okay?”

Michelle, thinking for one brief moment, “I just saw Raymond…”

As Michelle walked into the apartment, Leila’s gushing quickly caught her attention.

“Omigosh, how sweet,” Leila says, as she finishes touching up Rain’s bouquet of roses in the vase, and plopping herself next to Rain on Rain’s twin bed.

Michelle walks into Rain’s room, “What’s so sweet ah, can hear you gushing from all the way outside,” she teases.

Leila got up, and takes Michelle by the arm, leading her to the flowers, “Look, Raymond gave Rain this huge bouquet of roses,” she informs her, “and for no special occasion what-so-ever.”

Michelle, turning cold to the reason of envy, “Really.”

“Well there might be an occasion, but I don’t recall it,” Rain says, embarrassed at her own forgetfulness.

“Is it your one month anniversary?” Leila suggests.

“No, that’s in a couple of weeks,” Rain answers, remembering that, “I’m not that forgetful.”

Michelle, restraining from letting her knowledge of the earlier incident out, “Rain, do you think this relationship is for real?”

Rain and Leila pauses, looking at Michelle.

Rain, confused by the question, “What do you mean?”

“I mean, are you and Raymond going steady for sure?” Michelle asks, as Leila caught on.

“Don’t know,” Rain admits, “I really like how everything is at the moment, haven’t thought that far.”

Leila, avoiding the question, “If you like how everything is, then don’t think so far,” she tells Rain, pulling her off the bed, “Now you better go shower before Michelle goes into the washroom.”

“Right,” Rain remembers, taking off, thinking light of the situation that just occurred.

As soon as they hear the washroom door close, Leila turns to Michelle, “What was that all about?”

“Nothing,” Michelle brushes off.

“Yeah, so that question about Raymond didn’t mean anything,” Leila confronts, “I’m not Rain, I can’t just think nothing of that.”

With that point made, Michelle could not help but tell Leila of her incident involving Raymond at the coffee shop.

After the brief explanation, Leila did not know what to say, “Did you ask Raymond about it, maybe it’s just a misunderstanding.”

“I can’t,” Michelle confesses, “You know I’d without bothering for an explanation, rake him out first.”

“Well, did you get Ron to ask, it’s better that way, since they friends,” Leila suggests, then remembering, “You didn’t tell Edison did you?”

“No, why?” Michelle asks, slowly suspecting Leila’s concern.

“No, ‘cause Edison is not like Ron, he’d probably stick up for Rain before hearing Raymond’s explanation,” Leila answers casually, then brushing it off by teasing Michelle, “Just like you lo!”

“You’re cheating on Rain behind her back!” Edison yells at Raymond questioningly, as Raymond walks into Ron’s bedroom, glass of orange juice in hand.

Raymond, brushing off the idea, “What are you talking about?”

Ron, still sitting in his chair next to the computer, “Michelle told me that you were with another girl at a coffee shop today.”

“Is it true?” Edison questions, “How can you be doing this behind Rain’s back?” he says, a little over concern for Ron to not notice.

Knowing that there was no way of getting out of the situation, “It didn’t mean anything,” Raymond starts to explain. “You guys know Lily, she’s one of my dad’s associates’ daughter, I can’t just tell her off.”

“But you can tell her that you have a girlfriend,” Ron says.

“Did Michelle tell Rain?” Raymond asks, concerned of the situation.

“I told her to let me talk to you first,” Ron tells, “But I don’t know how long Michelle can hold it in before she lets it slip. You know she would never let anyone hurt Rain that way.”

Raymond, unsure of what to do, “And she has something against me, she’s bound to tell Rain.”

“If you don’t want this mess to get any worse, you better start making amends,” Edison tells Raymond.
