(At Jerry’s house)(The doorbell rings)
JERRY: (opens the house) Emmm… you are… Steven? Kris’ colleague? Are you looking for Kris? She’s not in.
STEVEN: Huh? (looks down) Then it’s ok… I’ll get going (turns his back)
JERRY: (stops him) Steven… Come in and have a seat… I have something to talk to you… Regarding Kris… (Steven turns around and follows him into the house)(Jerry closes the door after him) Come, take a seat…
STEVEN: (sits down) What do you want to talk to me?
JERRY: (smiles) What is your purpose here today?
STEVEN: Actually I wanted to tell Kris that I will be leaving for Singapore next week…
JERRY: (looks at him curiously) Why? Are you unhappy with your present job? Or is it because of Kris? You’re avoiding her?
STEVEN: I think Louis suits her better… And I was offered a job with a relatively attractive pay in Singapore… And my aunts are staying there too… So perhaps I will be staying with them… (forces a smile)
JERRY: Do you know how Kris thinks?
STEVEN: I know she finds me a bother… I’m always pestering her… She is just sympathizing with me…
JERRY: No… (pauses for a moment) Actually she did mention to me about your childhood experience… (tries to empathize with him) You were an orphan… And since young you stayed with your uncle, and had to put up with his family (Steven is weeping) Are you ok? (digressing) Actually Kris and I are orphans too…
STEVEN: (looks at him unbelievably) You’re jesting! You don’t need to console me…
JERRY: It’s true, we were adopted by a couple when I was 12… And they treated us well… But we still miss our parents... They died in a car accident… I bet Kris wouldn’t tell you this, because this is a regret… a regret in her, or I should say our life… I am always protective towards her, because I want her to feel loved, to feel that she is not alone… (Steven looks down) I know you love her a lot… But don’t blame her for rejecting you repeatingly… she feels insecure, because she thought you were frivolous at first….
STEVEN: (nods his head hard) No… I’m not…
JERRY: (chuckles) Relax… I know that… (continues his words) But after she saw the emotional part of you… She feels that you are someone who may understand her, and perhaps her soul mate… That’s why she changed her opinion about you…
STEVEN: (wiping his tears) Does that mean I have a chance? (pauses for a while) But what about Louis? He…
JERRY: You have to fight for love, Steven. (thinking about he and Fion)

(At Yip’s Home for the aged)
STEVEN: (goes into Kris’ office) Kris… I have something to tell you…
LOUIS: (suddenly appears from behind) Kris, can we go now?
STEVEN: (looks at Kris) Where are you going?
LOUIS: I am meeting her for dinner…
STEVEN: I’m sorry… She is not free today… (holds Kris’ hand and drags her away, out of the office)
KRIS: (turning back to look at Louis) Where are you bringing me to, Steven? Steven…
STEVEN: Macau.
KRIS: What? Macau? Why are we going there? Hey wait… (struggles to break free) What are you trying to do?
STEVEN: I really have something very important to tell you… it will concern your life… and future… Hop in (opens the car door, and Kris hops in)

(A beach in Macau, 7.30 p.m.)
KRIS: What do you bring me here?
STEVEN: I grew up here… (pauses) And this is the place I usually frequent since young… I’ll always dream of being a psychologist and solving other’s problems… And most importantly mine… I may appear frivolous to you because I am constantly hiding my inferior complexity… Until I met you, I feel that you are a cheerful, caring and gentle girl, and I really feel very happy whenever I’m with you… Yesterday I went to your house…
KRIS: (turns and looks at him) You did?
STEVEN: (nods his head) Emmm… But you wasn’t at home…and your brother spoke to me about you…
KRIS: (nervous) What did he say? That Jerry…
STEVEN: (seriously) I am going to Singapore next week…
KRIS: I’ve heard of it from Dr. Leung… Why are you making such a harsh decision?
STEVEN: Do you think I should go over?
KRIS: (looks at him curiously) Huh? I thought you have decided? Why are you asking my opinion?
STEVEN: Because you’re the most important person in my life…
KRIS: (taken aback) Ummm… Ste… Steven… I think you have misunderstood… I only treat you as a friend, or at most, best friend… I don’t think…
STEVEN: (tensed up and butts in) But that wasn’t what your brother told me! He said that you told him you have changed your opinion about me… (getting emotional) Why.. why is that so… is there anything you are not satisfied about me… I can change.. I can really…
KRIS: (tries to calm him down) Steven… It’s my problem… I should have told you earlier…
STEVEN: (hugs her tightly, weeping) Give me a chance, please Kris… please… I really love you very much…
KRIS: (pushes him away) Sorry, I think my brother misunderstood… Actually… I’m already with Louis…
STEVEN: (dropping his jaws) What? When did it started? The day we went to Ocean Park?
*FLASHBACKS*
(Two days after they went to Ocean Park)(At Yip’s home for the aged)
KRIS: (walks out to the corridor)(lifts her head up) Louis! Why are you here???
LOUIS: (put on his charming smile) Knocked off already? I wish to take you to a place.
KRIS: Where?
LOUIS: Koo’s orphanage.
KRIS: Koo’s orphanage? Why are we going there?
LOUIS: (smiles) You’ll know it when we get there…
(At Koo’s orphanage)
LOUIS: (walks in with Kris) Fion, Bowie, Zoe…
FION: Hello… Kris… hi… (Bowie and Zoe waves their hands to say hello)
KRIS: (looks at them) Hi… Fion, you’re here too…
FION: Yes, we are doing volunteer work here…
LOUIS: (looks at Zoe and Bowie) Looks that they seems to be dating here…
FION: (grins) Why? Are you jealous? Do your job as a tour guide first. (signals him)
LOUIS: (smiles) Kris, I’ll bring you around… (walks around with Kris) Come… here is the…… (continues to show her around)
KRIS: Koo’s orphanage… Are you the founder?
LOUIS: (jokes) Then are you the founder of Yip’s home for the aged? (Kris cracks out) Just joking, my father is the one…
KRIS: Really?
LOUIS: He was an orphan, and had hoped for care and concern since he was young, that’s why he showered a lot of love on us… me and my brother.. but then he felt that it wasn’t enough.. he wanted more people to be cared for… Since young, my father had taught us not to despise orphans, and on the contrary, we should care for them…
KRIS: (senses something) Did you…
LOUIS: Dr Leung told me that you was an orphan… so I thought you could feel more for these children than anyone would… Do you mind being a volunteer here?
KRIS: No… (chuckles) Of course I won’t mind… it’s my pleasure, but why are you so secretive about it?
LOUIS: (Seriously) Because I have a motive… I hope I can see more of you… (looks at her without moving his eyes)
KRIS: (lowers her head) Louis.. Emmm… I…
LOUIS: (looks at her hand) You are wearing my bracelet… (holds her hands) Give me a chance, ok? (Out of a sudden, a vase fell from above) Be careful! (pulls Kris into his arms tightly)
KRIS: (covering her ears and closing her eyes)(opens eyes) Louis! (puts her hands round his neck and hugs him tight!) (Louis strokes her hair gently, Kris just rest her head comfortably on Louis’ shoulders)
ZOE: (comes from behind) What happened? (Louis and Kris break free) Oh.. sorry… I didn’t see anything… I’ll go and check it out.. (walking away) Which rascal did this?
(Louis and Kris looks at each other awkwardly, then Kris giggles, and Louis giggles too… and Louis puts his arms around Kris.. they have one final warm hug before leaving for dinner..)
*END OF FLASHBACKS*
KRIS: I’m sorry… for all these misunderstandings… I feel that I can empathize with you.. because I was an orphan too…
STEVEN: It’s ok… I understand… (gasping for air)
KRIS: You will always be my best friend. (Give him a warm hug) I need to make a move now…
STEVEN: Ok, I’m be alright… (Kris looks at him)(He gives her a confirmative nod and signals her to just go first, Kris leaves)(someone is walking towards Steven and gives him a pat on the shoulder)
VOICE: Hello…
STEVEN: (turns around) Charmaine?
CHARMAINE: Why is Kris leaving? You two has a quarrel? But I just saw her hugging you…
STEVEN: No… she’ve got Louis…
CHARMAINE: (looks at him innocently) Louis? The psychologist? Are you ok?
STEVEN: (calms down) Yes, I am. Why are you here?
CHARMAINE: I live here! Then why are you here?
STEVEN: I used to live here… but I didn’t see you before…
CHARMAINE: I just moved here last year… Sup Yuet Chor Ng Street (5th day of 10th month Street).. no.. 66
STEVEN: I live in unit no. 65 in the past! But I moved out 3 years ago…
CHARMAINE: What a coincidence, do you know what happened last month? (Steven smiles and shakes his head) That fatty, Ming Zai… fell into the drain and dropped two of his teeth… you know him?
STEVEN: (chuckles) Of course! He is the eldest son of the boss of the provision shop… And you know Chung Zai, his brother?
CHARMAINE: Yes, what about him?
STEVEN: (laughs as he is saying) He often wet his bed, even when he was 10… and……………
(They both continues to chat for an hour where they proceeds to the nearest stall for supper)
