A LETTER TO FION
Dear Fion,
Thank you for being with me for 8 years, I can’t bear to put down our relationship too. Your affair with Jerry had been too great a setback to me. Ever since the past, I have always thought that we were a match in heaven, in our parents, classmates, teachers and friends’ eyes, we are made in heaven. Perhaps everything has been taken for granted, we have never known and understood each other. Moreover, we never thought we could find a new partner.
Because everything has been so taken for granted, we appear more like kin than lovers. As for the matter you have did me wrong, I have to bear a large proportion of the responsibility too. And I must thank you for teaching me how to love a person. I have a very traditional mindset, I can never forget your affair with Jerry in this lifetime. Even if we continues to live together, we won’t be happy, and we will regret it one day. Fortunately, we are not yet married, temporal painfulness is better than permanent painfulness, we can still be friends, is it? I trust you, you will be alright after a while. Lastly, I hope that you can find someone who you wants and loves you. Take care.

(2 months later, Zoe meets up with Fion)(Airport grounds)
ZOE: How was your trip? Are you tired?
FION: (smiling) I’ve long got used to it.
ZOE: Did you meet Jerry on the plane?
FION: I won’t think about that, depends on affinity la… How is Lik Hang?
ZOE: Emmm… I heard from some friends that he was promoted…. And is dating his secretary.
FION: (nodding her head and smiling) Emmm… that’s good.
ZOE: You really lost contact with him?
FION: You know it. I think… perhaps I’ll get a Christmas card from him during Christmas…
ZOE: It had been 2 months! Had your mood changed for the better?
FION: I brought it upon myself, so I have to shoulder it.
ZOE: (smiling bitterly) You can’t put it that way…
ANNOUNCEMENT: Chek Lap Kok new airport will be opened tomorrow. The government had advised the public of setting aside a little bit more time to adjust to the traffic at the airport’s vicinity.
ZOE: (turns her head back) Oh yes, the airport is relocated… what do you feel?
FION: (smiles) Nothing special, I’ve expected this.
ZOE: (gives her an unbelievable look) You sure have some feelings, you visit it more than I visit the washroom…
FION: (chuckles) Is that a bit too exaggerative? I must learn to adapt to it no matter what… This is nothing, I am missing the delicious food here… Once I arrived there’s so much food to choose from… Thai food, Shanghainese food, steamboat and… egg tarts! The most famous of all is still the egg-tarts.
ZOE: Only egg-tarts? I’ll get you a dozen and let you look at them…
FION: You can’t find the ones I like, forget it!
ZOE: You really missed those “egg-tarts”, and that makes you look dispirited…
FION: Huh? Is that so? I don’t think so… Oh yes, I am flying to Japan next week, anything you want me to get for you?
ZOE: Really? Then I must prepare a list…

FION’S THOUGHTS
The mention of egg-tarts made me think of the egg-tarts Jerry has given me. I wonder how he is now. What is he doing right now? Every time I flies to Japan, I bear a hope, I hope I can run into him. I’m not requesting him to be together with me, I’ve hurt him too much. It would suffice for me to take one more look of him. When Lik Hang learns about us, I have guessed that Lik Hang would leave me, why didn’t I keep Jerry with me? The reason is simple, I‘ve owed him too much, I don’t want he to know that I chose him because Lik Hang doesn’t want me. That would give him a wrong intuition that he is a substitute, the feeling would be unbearable. Now my life is quite good, still remaining as an air-stewardess. That was my childhood ambition, and heaven is doting on me, it must be fate that I would remain one all my life, and have no luck of becoming someone’s wife. Actually, I insists on holding the job because I wanted to see him… and have a new start with him… it’s not Lik Hang… it’s him.

JERRY’S THOUGHTS
I wonder if Fion is getting along well with Lik Hang. Actually, I’ve returned to HK after visiting my friend in Japan. After that I fly to Japan and back to HK, then fly to Japan and back to HK… within 2 months, I have had 20 trips. Why did I do that? I wish I could run into Fion, and see how she is now, but I haven’t even seen her once. Perhaps she had taken leave to prepare for her wedding. However, I have the confidence to see her again, because, I have set up an egg-tart shop in the new airport, and it’s the sole egg-tart shop in the whole airport. I hope to lure her here with the fragrance of my egg-tarts, and of course, with some help of fate… One look is enough, a road for a will… I will meet her again. I'm now trying my best to make the most delicious egg-tarts, because I know that, if I can make my egg-tarts famous, Fion will come to my outlet, and I can see her again… I won’t set up any branches, in case she goes to the branches instead… I will wait. Fion, I won’t give you up…

(Next week, at airport grounds, Fion just returned from her trip to Japan)
FION: Amy, your boyfriend is here. (points to her boyfriend)
AMY: (walk towards him) Hey, what is this? (pointing to something he is holding)
BOYFRIEND: Egg-tarts.
FION: They smells so nice, did you get it from Kowloon City (old airport’s vicinity)?
BOYFRIEND: No, it’s from the airport.
AMY: You are unaware of it? This shop is so famous now for its egg-tarts.
FION: (smiles) I am really unaware of this.
BOYFRIEND: Then you must really try it out then. (opens the box)
FION: (jokingly) This is not enough for me… where is the shop?
BOYFRIEND: 2nd level, near the escalator.
FION: Then I’ll visit it now, thanks, bye… (walks towards her destination)

(Jerry’s egg-tarts outlet)
FION: I would like to have a dozen egg-tarts…
JERRY: (turns around) Fion!
FION: (surprised) Jerry! Hi, haven’t seen you for a long time.
JERRY: (overjoyed)(Talking to himself) I have finally succeeded…
MARY: (Walking out) Jerry, don’t keep chatting, I’m so busy.
JERRY: Let them wait. (to Fion) she is Mary, my shop assistant. Sorry.
FION: It’s ok.
JERRY: How is Lik Hang?
FION: We broke up.
JERRY: (surprised) Huh?
FION: I’ve lost contact with him. Just now I thought that Mary was your…
JERRY: (tensed up) No…no… I’m still unattached…
FION: (nods her head) Oh…
JERRY: What about you?
FION: I’ve set my mind on my career.
JERRY: I’ve never given up, the sole reason of this shop’s existence is you. I know that if I make the egg-tarts delicious, you will visit it someday, and I can see you again… (eyes fixing on her)
FION: Thanks for remembering me.
JERRY: Then can we… can we… Why not we start all over again? (eagerly waiting for her response)
FION: (smiles and nods her head)…
JERRY: (overjoyed) Thank you, Fion… thanks for giving me another chance…
FION: I treat it as giving myself another chance.
(They walks towards each other and hug each other tightly, and giving each other a passionate kiss, a kiss for life……)

PS: Don't like this ending? I don't really like it that much too, but at least, they're together. Never mind, there's still mine... Now you all know what i mean by not being fair to Jerry? What do you all think?
