You were eating silently when someone opened the lights on the hall. You opened slightly the door and peeked. “Grandpa?” you whispered to yourself as you take a look at the hall. “What is he doing there?” you thought. You continued eating as you watch him stand up at the door. A few moments later, someone entered with your grandpa. It was a tall man, as tall as KiBum. He wears a jacket covering a black t-shirt, jeans and has a cap. He looks like a young adult from about twenty-five to thirty years old.
“Grandpop, I’m sorry to wake you up so early.” the man said.
“Grandpop?” you thought.
“Its okay, Jinho, its okay.” your grandpa replied.
“Who might he be?” you asked yourself.
“How’s America?” your grandpa asked as the two of them sit down on a long couch. “It’s fine. And America’s really cold during this season.” the man replied. “Is that why you decided to go back here?” Mr. Kim asked. “Sort of.” the man replied. “Sort of? Why is there anything else?” Mr. Kim replied. “I decided to continue my work at the company.” the man replied.
“Really? That’s a good choice, Jinho. Oh wait, I’ll get something for you to eat.” Mr. Kim said and stood up. You hurriedly closed the light and hid behind the cabinet of spoons, forks and plates. Luckily, the gap between it and the wall is big enough for you to hide. You went behind it and held your breath. Your grandpa opened the lights and took out the box of cake. He placed it on the table and saw the plate of cake. You gulped because you remembered that you forgot to take the plate with you.
Your grandpa wandered his eyes around, out the garden, below the table and even under the cabinets. He was curious of who might have left the plate of cake there. Back to you, your nose is really itching because of the dust you can smell. You tried to stop it and you were successful. But you took a deep breath which your grandfather heard. [Cool ears... even though he’s a man of seventy’s his ears are still hearing clearly]
“Is someone there?” he asked. You held your breath again. He walked and stood in front of the cabinet. “I’m sure I heard it from here.” he said. **I wish he’ll get scared... I wish he’ll think it’s a ghost!** you thought. But then you nodded your head. **No, no, he’s too old for those kinds of things.** you thought again.
“What’s taking grandpop so long?” the man asked.
Your grandpa turned around and noticed the shadow of your dress’ sleeves on the wall. He walked to the right side of the cabinet and said “Finally, I found you.” “Grandpa.” you said. You sighed and went out of the gap. “What are you doing here?” he asked sweetly. “I was eating cake because I’m hungry.” you replied. “Not about that. What I mean is why are you hiding there? Don’t you know it’s dusty there? You might get allergies.” he replied. “Ohh, I thought you’ll be mad and grandpa,” you said. “Yes?” he asked.
The door opened and someone peeked. “Grandpop, what’s taking you so long?” the man asked. “Who is he?” you asked your grandpa. “Answers will be given later. Jinho, come sit with me and your cousin.” Mr. Kim said. “Cousin?” the two of you asked in unison.
“She was Aunt Emily’s only son.” Mr. Kim said as the three of you eat. You were at the right side with your grandpa and in front of you was Jinho. “How come I don’t know anything about him?” you asked showing a sad face. “Your aunt never tells anyone about this. She doesn’t want her husband to know anything.” Mr. Kim replied. “So, father is still around?” Jinho asked. “Yeah... your mother always sees him walking in front of the mansion.” Mr. Kim replied.
“The tall and dark man?” you asked. “Hahaha! I was thinking you’ll be saying tall, dark and handsome!” Jinho joked. “Grandpa, why?” you asked, ignoring Jinho. “Hey, cruel! You’re ignoring me.” he said. “Your aunt never wanted that man.” Mr. Kim said. Jinho continued eating. It’s okay with him to talk about his parents because he also wants to know everything from them. Especially about his father.
“I don’t know if I should be telling you two about this...” Mr. Kim said. “Go one, grandpop.” Jinho said. “[Heavy sigh] He was once an owner of a known bread shop. Everyday, he would bring newly baked breads to Emily as a sign of him courting her. But Emily never showed to him any affection. One day, Emily was walking at the park when he saw Emily. He...”
“Father!” someone shouted from the door. It was Emily looking at them. “I told you not to speak about it anymore, right, father? Even to ~~~~~ or Jinho.” she said. She walked and stood behind Jinho. “I... I don’t want anyone to know about it.” she said. “So... you’re really feeling unlucky to have me.” Jinho asked. “It’s not like that. Of course, I’m proud that I have a son like you. But... the fact that your father is...” she said and started crying.
“Auntie, don’t cry.” you said as you comfort her. She hugged you. **It is the first time I see her cry like this.** you thought. **But what was about Jinho’s father? What happened to Aunt Emily and him?** you thought.

You were sitting at the balcony that time. It was 6 in the morning already. A few weeks left and school’s back again. “[Deep sigh] Vacation’s near to end...” you said as you look at the trees with melting snow. “I wish winter will be long.” you continued.
“Lady ~~~~~, do you want to eat?” Dianne asked. “Nope, I’m not hungry yet.” you replied. “Okay, just tell me if you’re hungry and I’ll bring food for you.” Dianne said. “Uhmm, Dianne, where’s Jinho?” you asked. “The guy earlier?” Dianne replied back. “Yeah.” you answered.
“He’s outside. I think Ma’m Emily shows him around.” Dianne said. “Oh... okay!” you said. You jumped out from the chair and ran towards the door. “[Deep sigh] She always haves something in her mind.” Dianne said.

At the garden, Jinho and Aunt Emily were talking with smiles on their face. “She’s really happy to see her son...” you whispered. Suddenly, Aunt Emily stood up and you overheard what she was saying. “Jinho, I’ll be going upstairs for a while, I’ll be doing something about the company. I’ll leave you here first.” Aunt Emily said. “Okay, mom.” Jinho replied. Aunt Emily went in the house using the kitchen’s door. You tiptoed your way to Jinho but you happened to step on a dried leaf creating a noise.
“Your plan doesn’t work well, cousin.” he mocked as he turned around and looked at you. “I know.” you said. “So... I have questions for you.” he said. “Tell them.” you answered.
“How’s living here?” he asked you. “Living here?? [thinks for a moment] **It’s not great!** Well, living here... it’s kinda bad sometimes... but it’s fun!” you answered sarcastically. “The truth.” he moaned. “That... that was the truth!” you said. “Who’s your friends?” he asked seriously. “My friends?” you said. “Stop repeating what I said!” he shouted.
“S-sorry, I didn’t mean to.” you answered nervously. “My friends are... KiBum, Hyukjae and Junsu.” you said. “Junsu... the guy down there who lives in hell?” he asked. “What are you saying?” you glared at him. “I thought you’re not allowed to talk to damn brats?” he said. “He’s not like what you’re thinking! Stop saying nonsense. I’m going.” you said angrily. You walked with your fists clenched.
**Junsu...** he thought.
You were walking upstairs when Jinho called you from below. “Hey, cousin!” “Now, what?” you asked angrily. “I’m sorry about what I said earlier.” he said as he walked upstairs. He looked at you with a smile. “I didn’t mean to say those things about your friend.” he said. You thought for a while and it came to you that he didn’t want to spill everything about you and Junsu.
“What do you know about him?” you asked. “He’s just... a past friend of mine.” he replied. The two of you went back to the garden again and sat down on the bench. “We’ve known each other for about nineteen years, I think? It’s before mom sent me to America. I am one year older than you. Junsu’s about my age too and I know KiBum and Hyukjae but I prefer talking to Junsu.” he said. “Then, why are you calling him those things?” you asked. “Well, it all started when I told him I’ll be going to America. Back when we’re still six years old... and wait a minute, your mom brought you here when you were seven years old, right?” he asked. “Yeah... now continue. I hate cliffhangers.” you said.
“Well, back when we’re six years old, I told him I’ll be going to America because mom would send me there. After that day, he never showed to me anymore. Mom would always tell me not to talk to him but I’m just like you... I keep on going to their house but one day, when I came there, he didn’t answer me. I mean he didn’t open the door for me.
[FLASHBACK]
“Junsu! Come out here! I have something to tell you!” Jinho shouted. “No one’s coming out! I HATE YOU!” Junsu shouted. “But... I don’t want to leave either.” Jinho said. “I said I HATE YOU!” Junsu shouted. “Arrgg, he’s pissing me off.” Jinho said.
“FINE, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE MY FRIEND ANYMORE, THEN OKAY!” Jinho said and left. “I REALLY DON’T WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND ANYMORE!” Junsu shouted back.
[END OF FLASHBACK]
“We really loved being with each other... in fact; we even made a promise to meet you back then. But, your mom brought you here the moment I left Korea.” Jinho said. “I see...” you said. “Maybe, he just made our promise come true. To meet you.” he continued. “But...” “But I’m mad at him.” he hissed. “Why?” you asked. “He became mad at me just because I left Korea? He’s such a pervert hating small things.” Jinho replied. “Plus, the thing he said back then... that he doesn’t want me to be his friend anymore.” he added. “Maybe, he’s just confused of the happenings back then.” you said. “I think so.” he agreed. “Wanna meet him?” you asked.
“Of course! But...” “No more buts, I’ll take you there!” you said and took his hand. You two went out the mansion and went to Junsu’s house.
