Chapter 2

Fields of Memories

One morning, you are standing at the balcony. Your chin was above your hands as you take a deep look at the blue sky. You took a deep breath every second. You didn’t notice Kibum entering the balcony. He covered your eyes.

“Hey, who is it? Stop that!” you said. Kibum didn’t speak. You tickled him in his waist and were surprised to see Kibum. “Kibum?” you said.
“That’s unfair.” Kibum said.
“What are you doing here?” you asked.
“Uhmm, nothing, I feel like talking today. So I thought it would be nice to talk to someone noisy like you.” Kibum teased.
“Excuse me, I’m not noisy!” you defended as you looked at the sky again.

“You seem like reminiscing your past. Am I right?” Kibum asked as he stood up beside you facing the wall.
“Yeah, I always do this. I want to remember Mom’s face.” you replied.
“Oh, so you still remember her face?” Kibum asked.
“Yeah, she’s really beautiful. Her skin’s as white the clouds and her hair is as black as ebony.” you said. You sighed again.
Kibum smiled and whispered “Yeah, just like you.”
“What, are you saying something?” you asked looking at him.
“Huh? Ahh, nothing. I’m just humming.” Kibum replied as he hummed.
You looked at the clouds again. “I wish I can be with her again.” you said.
“What did happen and why is she not here anymore?” Kibum asked.
“Well,” you said.

[FLASHBACK]
You were playing at the backyard when you mom called you. “~~~~~!” your mom called. “Yes, mom?” you shouted.
“Come here, I’ll change your clothes now. We’ll be going to your grandfather.” your mom replied.
“Yes mom!” you said as you run to the house.

At the room,

“Mom, what are we going to do there?” you asked.
“Uhmm, your grandfather wants to see you.” your mom replied.
“Oh, I see. Hey, let’s go to the ice cream store after going there, huh!” you suggested.
“Okay, okay. There, looks good at you.” your mom said.
“Mom, is there something wrong? You look sad today.” you asked.
“Huh? It’s nothing, sweetie. Mom’s okay. Maybe she’s just tired. C’mon, your grandfather’s waiting.” your mom replied.
“Okay!” you said with a smile.
[END OF FLASHBACK]

“When it’s time to go home already, I looked for her everywhere at the mansion. But I can’t see traces of her anymore. Aunt Emily said she left me here already. I don’t know why she did it...” you said.
“Oh, I see.” Kibum said.
“I really miss her. I wish I’ll see her again, some other time.” you added.
