Chapter 23

Uncertain Answer.

When Hebe and Rainie reached the music room, an awkward silence fell between them. Rainie closed the door and the clicking sound echoed around the room.

Hebe went near the window in small silent strides while Rainie just speculated her every move. She followed Hebe with the use of her eyes with a smile on her face.

“You like Mike?” Rainie asked breaking the silence. Hebe flinched out of sudden shock. She turned around and looked at Rainie. She was touching the piano keys as she glided her fingers on them. Hebe watched her in adoration. Rainie was really elegant and beautiful.

“Yes,” she answered honestly.

Rainie stopped her fingers when she reached the last ivory key. She looked at Hebe and said, “Don’t you like Arron?” She gave her a suspicious stare.

Hebe knew the answer, ‘No’, but she couldn’t say it out to Rainie and she doesn’t know what the reason is for this. She knows that Rainie is Arron’s girlfriend or so she thought.

“Silence always means doubt... uncertainty.” She went near Hebe and smiled. “I’ll give you time to TRUTHFULLY answer this question.” She gave her a friendly tap on the shoulder and said, “C’mon let’s practice this musical piece.”

She sat down the piano bench and patted the seat next to her and waited for Hebe. On the other hand, Hebe felt awkward but still went to sit down beside her. As they go through the practice, Hebe couldn’t remove in her mind on what Rainie asked her and the response she gave her.

The sun was already setting and rain poured unto the road. Students were already in their homes but not the ones who have practices after school. They were just about to go home after the said practice.

“DAMN!” Hebe cursed under her breath as she saw the rain. She forgot to bring an umbrella. Hebe’s the type of girl who doesn’t bring an umbrella. See... that’s why her mother wanted to train her badly.
On the other hand, Arron got in his car and drove out of the parking lot of the school. As he got to the part of the main entrance, he stopped his car and stared at Hebe who was cursing the stupid rain.

“Looks like someone forgot an umbrella,” he said. He was making his way towards Hebe when a red audi car cut his way. He stopped immediately as he pressed hard on the brake pedal. Eyeing the haughty driver of the car which cut him, he saw that it was no other than his own rival, Mike.

“Hebe? You want a ride?” asked Mike as he emerged in from the car’s door holding a red umbrella. Hebe was in shock but felt relieved to be asked for a ride.

“Uhm. Sure,” Hebe said uncertainly for her heart wasn’t that much happy about Mike being there. It was looking and waiting for another person.

They got in the car. When they were settled, Mike started the engine. There was an awkward silence inside the car. Rain dropping on the pavement could only be heard. The once peaceful silence of interrupted by a sudden splash of water and a roaring car engine as Arron’s car passed by them in a swift manner.

“What the hell is wrong with that driver?!” Hebe started as she put her hand over her mouth for being so random. Mike just stared at the speeding car as he stepped on the gas pedal.

“Cousin, didn’t get the chance?” Rainie’s voice tuned through the phone.

Arron threw his bag on his bed and plopped down. He rolled his eyes and looked at the time. It was already 7 in the evening. “Rainie, don’t you got something better to do than bug me? You already had too much bugging today.”

He rolled his eyes. He stood up as well and sat down in front of the computer. “I told Hebe something. It was more like a hint.” Rainie’s sentence made Arron froze in his place.

“What did you tell her?!” He asked.

“I could tell she was pretty much confused,” Rainie said ignoring what Arron asked.

“RAINIE! WHAT DID YOU TELL HER?!” Arron said louder.

With that, Rainie laughed and hang up on him.

Arron removed the phone from his ear and cursed Rainie. “Damn, Rainie.”
He opened his mail and saw bunch of junk emails and stuffs but one certain email caught his attention. It was an email from his dad. Anger rose inside him. He clenched his fist as he opened the email.
