Arron started to play the piano as Mike, his assigned coach, observed his actions intuitively. As he played, the message from his dear mother kept repeating inside his head.

Subject: CONFIDENTIAL [read alone]
My Dear Son,
This is your mother writing to you. I just used your father’s email account. I know you felt your anger rising up as you read the sender’s name. But, do not my son. Paul Yan is still your father – my husband. He might be unresponsive and uncaring to us for the past few years but he still cares. I feel that. And now, he needs your help. You father... he has lung cancer. He told me not to tell this to you but I need to let you know my son. You need to. I’m not enforcing on you to robotically return home to accompany your father in our business. But as your mother, I am requesting your help because our company needs you – your father needs you. Son, please do take time to think and decide. It’s your own choice.
Love,
MOM
-
Arron stared at his computer screen as his hands trembled. His father is in a terrible state putting their company in grave despair. His mother in a more dreadful emotional state, he doesn’t know if she will be able to handle it alone.
“Why... did it come to this?” Arron murmured to himself.
‘I’m their only son who can help them with this problem.’ His thoughts ran through his mind over and over. Weighing the pros and cons of his decision, he arrived at the point that he must return as soon as the school year ends.
He got back to his computer and was about to reply. But thinking that his father might read it instead of his mother, he picked up his phone and dialed his mother’s cell phone number, making a long distance call from abroad.
“Hello?” A woman at the other line picked up.
“Mom, I already decided.”

The sound of the piano stopped as Arron’s thoughts jumbled inside his head. He had been playing roughly these past two days of practice. He often missed a key or two and the force he laid upon the piano were heavily exerted.
“You’re not the usual Arron I knew of,” Mike remarked as he set down the sheet of music atop the piano stand. He placed his hands on the piano’s edge and looked at Arron. “You are not the showy and haughty Arron Yan who entered this music room the first day of practice. How can you even compete with me with that way of playing?” He strongly imposed, hurting Arron’s pride and image.
Arron looked at him with deep and glaring eyes without the typical prideful look it contained. Mike sighed and walked towards the door.
Mike stopped in his tracks and began to speak, “Remember Arron, you must fix whatever personal problem you have or else you’ll never be able to play the piano like you used to.” He didn’t turn back but instead held the doorknob and went out.
Arron was left in a state of depression. He never played that bad before. But ever since the email his mother sent, he was sore.
“How am I gonna get through this?” He whispered.

“Dude, you okay?” asked Jiro as he went over to his best friend who was standing in the hallway of the music room, leaning on the wall with his head down.
Arron looked up and answered, “No, I’m not. I have a big problem that is causing me great distress.”
Jiro was silent entailing that he was ready to listen to his friend who finally wanted to tell him his problem. “My dad... he’s suffering from lung cancer and they need me back.”
“...”
He sighed and proceeded with his explanation. “I will return to America when this school year ends. I will never be back again....” He stopped halfway, not wanting to even think about what he was going to say last.
Jiro looked at him, concerned of his friend.
“I will never see Hebe ever again,” Arron finally said.
He lifted his head and sighed. “What kind of life do I have? This really sucks,” he complained.
“It’s okay, dude. You’ll get through it somehow,” Jiro assured Arron.

Mike and Hebe were walking towards the parking lot. They were chit-chatting about several things and a series of laughter were heard from them. Hebe averted her gaze towards right side of the school grounds where the garden beside a road was located. There, she saw Arron leaning on his car as he looked up the sky.
“Uhhhh... Mike, I can’t go home with you today. I forgot to finish something up in the lab. You go first,” She said.
Mike stopped walking and asked, “Are you sure?”
“Very sure,” she responded as she ran out of Mike’s sight.

“Mr. Conceited, may I lean here as well?”
Arron was startled. He looked at his left and saw Hebe standing there with a smile.
He ignored her and answered, “Whatever.”
“Whatever means yes!” She said and leaned on the car as well.
Hebe watched as clouds passed by the sky while Arron took glimpses of her and was wondering why she was there. Minutes passed by and silence was still foreseeable between them.
“Why are you here?” asked Arron, breaking the silence.
Hebe looked at him and answered, “No idea either. I just saw you and thought that I should irritate you with my presence,” she mocked.
“Who would be irritated?” he murmured.
Hebe giggled and continued speaking. “But I guess you are not irritated. And by the way, why are you acting weird these past few days?” She asked.
He did not respond with the answer to the question but instead with a different question which surprised Hebe.
“Hebe... what would you do if your father, who didn’t even cared about you in the past, has an illness and now suddenly needs you?”
He looked at Hebe who was staring at the sky with glistening eyes.
“I would take care of him. Family is family. Blood-related or not, you’re still connected to each other. He’s still part of your life. Without him, there’s no you. Even if he was not someone you liked, you still belong to the same tree. You’re just in different branches. Get it?” She looked over Arron and found him in deep thought.
Realizing what she just said, she immediately spoke up again, “I know... its useless nonsense that I’m spouting here." She laughed, thinking that it was all a joke.
“Hebe... What if tomorrow I suddenly disappear... what will you feel and do?” Arron asked out of the blue. He was serious about that but Hebe isn't.
“Of course! I will be happy for the rest of my life!” Hebe answered mockingly as she laughed along. She was thinking what crap did Arron eat that made him act and question her like that.
“Oh I see,” Arron responded. He was obviously hurt, somewhere inside of him hurt badly – his heart.

Arron drove her home. The drive to her house was pretty awkward for no one talked to each other. Arron was in despair while Hebe was in a state of confusion with her feelings. Her heart just keeps beating faster whenever she thinks that they are alone together, no one else but the two of them. When they reached, they just waved their goodbyes robotically.
Hebe ran upstairs and shut her door loudly. She was breathing heavily and her heart was pounding wildly. She did not know why.
“OHHH! Stop pounding wildly!” She screamed.
She threw herself down her bed and stared at the ceiling. As she did so, she suddenly remembered the last question Arron asked from her.
“What will I feel and do if Arron disappears tomorrow.....” she murmured.
Sadness rushed over her as she thought about it.
“I will be sad...” She murmured without thinking.
She slapped herself as she realized what she said.
“WAAAAAAAA! I’m crazy! I’m turning crazy!”
She buried her face in her pillow as she refreshed her mind.

Arron turned off his car’s engine as he arrived at his house. He slowly pulled the key out and got down the car. He walked towards the front door as he remembered Hebe’s answer. Pain hit him again but much more this time. He never thought that he’d been that bad to Hebe... that she could even say that she’s gonna be happy if he disappears.
As he went inside his house and plopped down the sofa, his phone rang.
“Hello....Mom?” Arron said as he answered his phone call.

HI GUYS!
Sorry for the late update.
:) Hope you like this chapter.
It's a little bit sad, right?
Please do comment.
And can any of you suggest what songs or musical pieces will Hebe, Arron and Jiro play?
I can't think of anything except Canon or Romance but those won't do because I already used it in my other fic. :))
Thanks for the commenters btw.
I love you guys!
