by Oblivious To The Obvious
“Dad, do you have any idea of how expensive it is to file for divorce these days? I heard it could cost a fortune.” I said while trying to convince my dad not to get married again.
“Dara, no matter what you say or do, I’m still marrying her. My decision is final. Now you have one week to say goodbye to your friends and pack all your times before we transfer to Seoul.” Dad said passively.
“Dad! You just met her 6 months ago! This woman could be a murderer. She could be hiding some skeletons in her closet!”
“Unnie! Stop being so dramatic! For once, stop thinking of yourself!” my sister Doorami said.
I glared at her. She’s supposed to be on my side!
“No! Dad should be the one who should stop thinking of himself! Why dad, you want that evil witch to replace mom? Newsflash! SHE CAN’T!”
With that, I stomped back to my room.
-----------------------
I can’t believe dad is doing this to me! And I can’t believe my own sister’s siding with dad! She must be running out of cash. Urghh…Sometimes, I think she’s not my sister.
I turned my laptop on as I lay flat on my stomach on top of my bed.
I opened my offline blog and started typing.
‘My dad just informed us that he’s getting married to that Spaghetti he met in Seoul during a business meeting a few months ago. I heard she just got divorced. I guess her previous husband couldn’t take it anymore. And I heard that she got 2 children. God! Help me, I think I’m gonna be Cinderella.
Damnit! We even have to transfer to Seoul! I wish I wouldn’t see HIM there. If I see him, I might have to kill him. Or cut of his balls. Damnit! He couldn’t even keep his boxers on!
Sigh. Mom. I wish you’re still alive. Doorami and Sanghyun can’t even remember you. They were not able to experience of how great you are as a mother. Maybe that’s why they want Dad to remarry, so that they could have a “mother”. Don’t worry mom, I won’t let that Spaghetti take this family from you. The day I’ll call her mom, is the day I’ll fall in love with her son. In other words: NEVER!’
-----------------------------------
“Kids, hurry. My fiancée is already here in the airport.” Dad said.
“Dad, why rush? It’s not as if she’s going to cancel the wedding if you make her wait.” I replied.
Dad just glared at me but said nothing.
I went off the airplane as slowly as possible. I want to enjoy this moment because this might be the last time I’ll ever enjoy life.
So, when I passed the gates, I realized that I don’t know where to go next.
I looked around for my siblings and dad, but all I see are unfamiliar faces and more unfamiliar faces.
But then, there’s this guy who just stood out from the crowd.
He had blonde hair and he could pass for my prince charming.
Then, I saw him approach me and I’m flattered to be noticed by such a hottie.
I looked at him from top to bottom and I could say, he’s quite a catch.
“So, did I pass your standards? Or should I strip off for a more detail physical examination?”
I didn’t answer and just smirked at him. Rule number one, never answer a guy immediately, you will sound desperate.
After a few moments of awkward silenced, he spoke up.
“You seem lost sweetie. Want some help?”
I was about to answer flirt with him when I heard my dad’s voice.
“Jiyong, thank God you found her! Dara say hello to your soon-to-be stepbrother.”
‘HE’S MY WHAT?’
--------------------------------------
Jiyong’s POV
My mom’s soon-to-be husband arrived with his children. I helped them put their things inside the van mom drove. When every luggage was in place, I told my mom that I’m gonna leave first.
I was about to go inside my car when Mr. Park suddenly said, “Dara’s still not here.”
‘Who’s Dara?’
I did some head count and I realized that one of them is missing. Mr. Park has three children, right? But who cares? I just shrugged it off and still went inside my car.
I was about to start the engine when my mom, with her arms crossed on her chest, stood in front of the car.
She just looked at me and I knew what she wanted.
I went out of my car and entered the airport once again.
There were a lot of people today and I know that I’ll be having hard time looking for that Dara girl. I mean, I don’t even know what she looks like.
I remembered mom handed me a picture of her, but I didn’t even bother looking at it. If I know, she’s some dork with thick rimmed glasses and braces.
It was over 15 minutes, and I still can’t find her. But, I did find someone else.
There, standing in the middle of the crowd, is the most beautiful being I’ve even seen in my whole life. But too bad, her tits are too small. But still she looks too damn hot.
I saw her check me out and so, when I reached her, I said “So, did I pass your standards? Or should I strip off for a more detail physical examination?”
She just gave me a smirk and never even responded.
Then, there was this awkward silence. I really couldn’t stand it, so I broke it.
“You seem lost sweetie. Want some help?”
I saw her open her mouth to respond but she never did because Mr. Park said something.
“Jiyong, thank God you found her! Dara say hello to your soon-to-be stepbrother.”
‘She’s my what? Oh…you gotta to be kidding me.’
---------------------------
Dara’s POV
“Dara dear, the van is quite full; can you just ride with Jiyong?” The Spaghetti has spoken. God! Why are you punishing me?
I can’t believed that I almost flirted with my soon-to-be stepbrother and now, I’m forced to ride with him. God! Kill me now.
I forced a smile as I sat on the passenger seat.
‘Okay Dara. Relax. You don’t have to talk to him. Just stay still. This will be over after a few minutes. Just relax!’ I said to myself.
But then, as I was already relaxed, I saw Jiyong move closer to me.
‘Oh no! What is he doing?’
I closed my eyes because of too much nervousness but then I felt something on my body.
I opened my eyes and saw that my seatbelt is attached.
I breathe deeply because of relief.
“You should have seen your face. It was priceless!” Jiyong said.
“Hmpph!” I looked away from him and just enjoyed the view outside the window.
I can’t believe it, I really am in Seoul.
------------------------------------
The rest of the car ride was uneventful, but it was the longest 30 minutes of my life.
I went out of the car after we parked it outside a big and beautiful house. No! Our house in Busan’s still more beautiful.
We went inside and the Spaghetti spoke again.
“Kids…listen.” She started.
Kids? What are we? Kindergarten pupils?
I rolled my eyes and Doorami might have seen it so she elbowed me.
I gave her defiant stare and just listen to what the Spaghetti was saying for once.
“Room assignments. There are five rooms in this house. On the second floor, there are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom will be our bedroom. The one adjacent to our room will be Doorami’s room while the room on the further end will be Sanghyun’s. Doorami dear, is it okay if Dami will share a room with you for a few nights? It used to be her room, you know…”
Doorami answered, “I don’t mind.”
The evil witch (yes, a more proper term!) continued with her announcement after she got Doorami’s permission.
“On the other hand, there are 2 rooms this floor. Jiyong will still be using his old room, while Dara will be using the room connected to Jiyong’s room. Now is that all clear?”
“Wait, did I just hear it right? ‘Dara will be using the room CONNECTED to Jiyong’s room’?”
“Yes sister dear, do you have problem with that?” Jiyong said.
Oh yeah. This is going to be an interesting year.
