“Kim, baby, we are going to be late. Wake up.” He gently kissed her on the forehead. “C’mon, breakfast is ready.”
Kim stirred but her eyes remain closed. “Can I have a few more minutes? I'm not feeling so good.”
Gerald was immediately concerned and touched her forehead. “Why, what’s wrong?”
“I'm just feeling a little nauseous.”
“Okay, stay here. I'm going to bring your breakfast here. Maybe you’re just hungry.” Gerald returned with the food tray couple minutes later. He placed it on the bedside table. “Baby, do you think you can get up? You have to eat so you can drink medicine.”
Kim slowly got up and leaned on the headboard. She was able to finish the food that Gerald gave her, which pleased him. “Here, drink this. Are you feeling better?”
“Yes, thank you. Go ahead; you don’t have to wait for me. I don’t want you to be late.”
“I'm not going to leave you in this state, Kim. If I have to call in sick, I will.”
“Baby, I'm fine. See, I can stand up already.” Kim tried to get off the bed and stood up on her own. Gerald gave her an unconvinced look and Kim walked a few steps away from him. “Satisfied?”
“Maybe I am. But I am not going to leave without you.”
She cupped his face and made him face her. “Gerald, I can take care of myself. If you’re worried about me driving myself to work, then I'm going to take the taxi instead.”
“But…”
“No more buts, okay? I’ll see you later at work. Drive safely.” Kim kissed him lightly on the lips.
“I want you to call me if you feel woozy again, alright?”
“Yes, Mr. Anderson, I will. Now go!”
Gerald leaned down to kiss her again. “I love you.”
“I love you.” Kim walked him to the door.

It took Kim couple of hours to get ready. As soon as she arrived at the office, she texted Gerald to let him know she’s already there. During his break time, he dropped by her office to check on her. However, she was in her class so he just left a note along with a sandwich for Kim. All throughout the day, Kim didn’t feel sick anymore. As usual, she went home ahead of him and went about her daily routine. Just as she finished setting the table, the door opened.
“Kim?” Gerald called out.
“I'm in the kitchen!” Kim yelled.
Gerald approached her and gave her peck on the lips and looked at her inquiringly.
“I told you I'm okay. Maybe you’re right this morning. I was just hungry.”
“Sure?” Kim nodded. “Good. I was worried the whole day about you.”
“Aww. My baby’s so sweet.” Kim playfully teased him. “Because you’re sweet, I prepared your favorite. Chicken curry.”
“My baby’s the best!” Kim was surprised when Gerald pulled her on his lap and showered her with kisses.
“I haven’t thanked you yet for taking care of me earlier. I'm sorry if I had you worried.”
“No need to thank me because I'm not done taking care of you yet. I always will, baby.”
“So do I.” Kim kissed him before she stood up and sat on the chair opposite Gerald’s. “Let’s eat.”

Over the next few days, Kim felt a lot better. Occasionally, she still feels dizzy so she started drinking iron supplement because thought she might be anemic. She didn’t tell Gerald about it so he wouldn’t worry about her anymore.
“I'm going out with the boys this weekend. Want to come with us?” Gerald asked Kim when they were getting ready to sleep.
“Baby, you know I don’t really like going out. I prefer to stay at home and watch DVD’s instead.”
“Well, yeah I know that. Now that I think about it, I’ll just stay here with you.”
“Ge, I don’t want you to cancel your plans with your friends on my account. You can go, I don’t mind. Just don’t drink too much, okay?”
“I'm a responsible drinker, Kimmy. You know that. But are you sure you’ll be okay here alone? Why don’t you make plans with Cathy?”
“She’s going on a business trip in Hong Kong tomorrow. She won’t be back until Wednesday next week.”
“Oh, okay. Don’t worry, I won’t be out too late, I promise.”
Kim smiled and turned off the lights. “Goodnight, baby.”
“Sweet dreams, my love.”

Kim was woken up very early the following morning because she felt her stomach churning. She immediately dashed to the comfort room but when she was at the sink, there was nothing that she could throw up. After a few minutes of standing there waiting for the feeling to go away, Kim went back to bed. Gerald turned around and opened his eyes. Seeing Kim sitting with her head against the headboard, he sat up.
“Baby, is everything okay? Why are you up so early?” Gerald asked.
Kim smiled weakly. “I have an upset stomach. It might be because of something I ate last night.”
“But we ate the same food last night, baby. And I don’t feel anything.”
“This will probably pass later on. Go back to sleep.” Kim patted Gerald’s cheeks.
“Do you want me to get you anything?”
“I’m going to okay, baby. Just hug me so I can sleep better.”
Gerald obliged and kissed Kim before they went back to sleep together.

“Baby, can you drop me off at the supermarket on your way to meet your friends?”
“Sure, are we out of groceries already?”
“Kinda. And I want to stop by the department store and buy some new clothes.”
“Okay then. Do you want me to wait for you?”
Kim shook her head. “No need, baby.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive!” Kim said.
“So are you ready to go?”
“Just give me five minutes. I’ll meet you in the car.”

After spending almost half the night on the mall, Kim went home to their apartment with a handful of shopping and grocery bags. She arranged the groceries on the cabinet in the kitchen before going inside the room. She took out a small plastic bag which she got from the drug store and went inside the bathroom. At almost the same time, she heard the door opened and Gerald calling out for her.
“You’re home early.” Said the very surprised Kim.
“I told you I won’t be out too late, didn’t I?” Gerald said, laughing at Kim’s reaction. “So, did you have fun shopping?”
“Yes. I actually bought you clothes as well.”
Gerald squinted at Kim. “Please tell me you didn’t max out your credit card again.”
“Of course not! I promised I will cut down on my credit card usage and I haven’t broken the promise yet. Let’s go, I want you to see what I got for you.” She grabbed Gerald by the hand and pulled him to their room.
“Okay. However, if you don’t mind, I would like to take a shower first.”
“Fine.”
“This’ll be quick.”
Gerald went to the bathroom while Kim started taking out the clothes she bought for the both of them. She was trying on a dress when she heard the bathroom door open.
“Wow, that was real quick baby. Did you even…” she stopped when she turned around and saw Gerald holding the plastic from the drug store.
“Why do you have this?” he held out a pregnancy test kit.
