What is this man doing? He's just staring at me. What did I do?
Maybe it's my father. I'll ask YuMi later.
(YuMi's POV)
I see 4 women standing around my mother's desk. What could they be doing?
They turn around when they hear the door close. They all had oversized sunglasses on.
These must be my aunts. Their names were Laura, Isobel, Annie and Regina. Their initials spelled out L.I.A.R. (I realized that after I posted the foreword.)
Now, I'm trying to figure out who's who. It doesn't look very hard.
When they see me looking at them, they remove their sunglasses and the guys gasp. Why?
(YoungBae's POV)
They all look so much like MiYoung. It could be any of them.
Maybe they're cousins. I'll find out later.
(YuMi's POV)
Now I could tell who's who. Isobel had the same hair style as my mother. Laura had on a black fedora. Annie had on gold eyeshadow. Regina had on a red headband. Even if they didn't have that on, I could still tell the difference.
Isobel approached me first.
Isobel: "You must be YuMi. You're prettier than Liz."
I nod.
YuMi: "Where's Liz?"
Isobel: "She's sleeping under her desk. We've been trying to get her up for the past 10 minutes."
Laura: "Trust me. Not even you can wake her up."
Annie: "Yeah. She probably wants some food and maybe she would wake up."
I just laugh. I don't know what to say. The door opens again and Diana and Beatrice walk in.
Beatrice: "What's the problem?"
Isobel: "Liz is sleeping under the desk again."
Beatrice: "I got an idea."
She walked over to the other side of the desk and sat in the seat. She took off her shoes and moved closer to the desk.
Elizabeth: "Get you're stinky feet out of my face!!!"
I hear a loud bang. She must have hit her head under the table.
Elizabeth: "Oww...Let me out!!"
Beatrice: "I thought you were sleeping."
Elizabeth: "You are wrong! Move!"
Beatrice moved back and Elizabeth got out from under the table. Her cousins started to laugh at her.
Elizabeth: "What's so funny?"
Regina pointed at her hair and clothing. Her hair was sticking up everywhere. She was only wearing a pink tee shirt and black boy shorts. She was rubbing her eyes so she didn't notice the guys standing behind me.
When she removed her hands from her face, she looked around before walking past us and out the office. She patted my shoulder before leaving.
(YoungBae's POV)
Whoa! I haven't seen anyone dress like that since MiYoung.
Now, I have 5 answers to my question: Which one is MiYoung?
They all look really similar.
(10 MINUTES LATER)
That woman comes back in. She was all cleaned up. She was wearing a white V-neck tee shirt, gray plaid skirt and ankle boots.
Now, I start to look around the room. There were 5 white chaises with 5 sleeping teenage girls on them. Who are they?
We all turn to look at her.
DongWook: "Are you..."
Elizabeth: "Elizabeth Kwon. You must be YuMi's uncles."
She shifts her attention to me.
Elizabeth: "You must be her father. Correct?"
We all nod eagerly. We each introduce ourselves as the other 6 women stand next to her. Those women introduce themselves after us.
JiYong looked like he had an interest in Laura. Maybe they shared a big interest in fashion.
Elizabeth walks over to each chaise and wakes up the girls. They stretch and start talking to YuMi.
Elizabeth: "Let me go get my son."
She walks out of the office and brings her son in. Now I had a better look at him. It looks like he already started puberty.
Elizabeth: "Kids. Introduce yourself."
TaeKyung: "We're not kids!"
Elizabeth: "To me, you are. Just introduce yourself and be nice."
The teenage girls stand in front of us. They all looked different. Elizabeth noticed my confusion.
Elizabeth: "They're adopted."
I nod as each of them introduce themselves. Their names were Serena, Octavia, Kimberly, Cecilia and Noelle. I'm trying to figure out which country they were adopted from. Elizabeth noticed again.
Elizabeth: "Serena is from Italy. Octavia is from Portugal. Kimberly is from Japan. Cecilia is from Singapore. Noelle is from Vietnam. Understand?"
We nod.
Elizabeth: "Good. For today, YuMi can rest or try on clothing from our designer closet. I think she'll fit most of them."
YuMi nods eagerly.
Elizabeth: "Okay. All of you go with my cousins. I'll talk to the men if that's okay with you."
We all nod.
TaeKyung: "And me?"
Elizabeth: "Go practice for your competition."
TaeKyung: "Yes, uhmma."
She took our luggage and leaned them against the wall. The girls and TaeKyung left the room.
Elizabeth sat down behind the desk and gestured us to sit on the seats in front of her desk. She picked up a pair of black glasses and adjusted them on her face.
Elizabeth: "I didn't expect YuMi to bring so many people but that's fine. I have enough room for all of you in my apartment."
DaeSung: "Really? How many people live in your apartment?"
Elizabeth: "There are 8 people on the first floor. There are 7 people on the second floor. Yes, my apartment has 2 floors and it's all connected."
DaeSung: "Which floor will we be staying on?"
Elizabeth: "Second floor. They're more rooms there."
YoungBae: "Which floor do you live on?"
ELizabeth: "Second floor."
YoungBae: "Were those all of your kids?"
Elizabeth: "Yes."
YoungBae: "How about the other women? Are they your cousins?"
Elizabeth: "Four of them are my cousins. One is my sister. One is my sister's friend."
YoungBae: "Are you single?"
Elizabeth: "I have been for the past 13 years."
YoungBae: "Don't you get lonely?"
Elizabeth: "I have too much on my plate to be in a relationship. Besides, relationships give me nothing but trouble."
That's disappointing for me. I'm trying to figure out if this is MiYoung or not.
