Even after the news HyeSun heard, she had a big smile on her face. She was glad to meet someone as sweet as YoungBae. She doubted that she would ever see him again but that conversation they shared made her feel better. She wished she was able to become his friend but he probably lived somewhere far away.
She walked into her apartment and waited for the elevator. HyeSun heard a cough behind her but ignored it. The elevator soon came to the lobby. She pressed the button for her floor and leaned against the wall. She was into her own world so she didn't notice YoungBae in the elevator. He tapped her elbow but she was still in her own world. He tapped her shoulder. She looked at him. Her smile soon turned to a fearful expression.
"Were you stalking me?" She was so angry.
"No! I live on your floor. Really. I didn't stalk you," HyeSun didn't believe him.
"Then prove it."
"I will," The elevator doors opened. YoungBae stepped out with HyeSun close behind. His apartment was right across from hers but she never saw him before.
"How long have you been living here?"
"6 months," He unlocked the door. "I wonder why I never saw you before. Which apartment do you live in?" HyeSun pointed at hers right across from his. "Now I really wonder why I never saw you. I'm always outside."
"I'm just an indoors person," YoungBae let her step in first. She kicked off her shoes as YoungBae locked the door behind him. He kicked off his shoes and followed her around his apartment. HyeSun admired his apartment since it looked a lot bigger than his. "Where did you used to live?"
"A few blocks away," He followed her into the kitchen. She opened the fridge and searched for something to drink. She looked at YoungBae before taking anything. He nodded to let her know to take whatever she wanted. She grabbed a can of coke and sat on his kitchen counter. He sat next to her.
"Do you live by yourself?" YoungBae nodded. "Me too."
"How old are you?" HyeSun should have known this question was going to come up at sometime.
"21," Now that she thought about it, she wondered why she was opening up to YoungBae. She just met him less than an hour ago.
"So am I," HyeSun felt a little better to know that he wasn't a lot older than herself. "When's your birthday?"
"May 18."
"Me too. You're like my twin," HyeSun laughed at his silly comment. "What? It's true. Same day. Where were you born?"
"Queens." (They're in Manhattan. Big Bang is not famous in this fanfic!)
"Me too. Which neighborhood?"
"Flushing."
"Me too. Which hospital?"
"Booth Memorial." (That's a real hospital! I'm using stuff close to home.)
"Me too. See? I told you we are like twins!"
"So what if we are? We don't have the same parents."
"True. My parents moved back to Seoul a while ago. Before my first girlfriend passed away."
"How old were you when that happened?"
"17."
"Tell me about her."
"Annie Wong was her name. She was about your height. She was Chinese and would always mix Mandarin and English into her sentences. I learned the language because of her. She would always have a smile on her face when I was sad."
"Sounds like a sweet girl. How about the second girlfriend?"
"Serena Blake. I was almost 18 when I met her. She was mixed with Korean and English. Really cute and sweet. Very east to talk to. She made me feel safe even though I should have kept her safe."
"But it wasn't your fault she died. Was it?" He shook his head.
"She died of a high fever. I took care of her in hope that should would get better but she never did," A few tears ran down his cheeks. He choked on his words.
"How long have you held those tears in?"
"Since I started talking to you."
"I'm sorry I made you have to remember them. You can stop if you want."
"No," He smiled weakly. "I feel better telling someone about this."
"Okay. Then tell me about your third girlfriend."
"Lydia Kim. You remind me a little of her."
"You mean the last name?"
"Not only that. She was short like you."
"I'm not short!" She slapped his arm playfully. He smiled a bright smile for the first time since she saw him. It made her heart feel a little better. It made her view men differently. Well, not all men. Just YoungBae. "Sorry about that. Continue."
"She was very quiet and shy. She was also a klutz but I didn't mind. She was still beautiful to me. She," He cleared his throat. She could have sworn she heard a little moan right after. "Now I wish she wasn't a klutz."
"Why?"
"She had to wear a back brace for some time so she fell down the stairs with it on. If she didn't have it on, she still might be here."
HyeSun felt like she might cry as she heard this. She couldn't imagine how someone could still want to live after so much tragedy in their life. She wished she was strong as he was. Both physically and emotionally. She liked that fact that he didn't mind crying in front of others. She would be terrified and embarrassed if someone saw her crying. She didn't feel that way with YoungBae. She even cried on his shoulder earlier. HyeSun thinks she has found a new friend at last. She hoped he felt the same way.
They continued to ask each other questions about to get to know them better. Until someone came knocking at the door. YoungBae patted her shoulder before going to answer it. He came back with 4 other men. They had brought some food with them. She was instantly attracted to the tallest one of the group. He had that charisma to him without even speaking a word. She stared at him in awe as they got themselves some food. The guys would whisper to each other and glance at her as they did so. YoungBae came up to her and whispered into her ear.
"Nice job at drooling at my friend," She quickly brushed the back of her hand across her mouth. He was right. He laughed at her before getting some food for himself.

YoungBae's heart ached slightly as he saw HyeSun fall head over heels for SeungHyun. He knew what he vowed never to do but he wanted to break it just once. He was still afraid that she would die if he dated her. That's what happens when you're the bad luck charm. Even if he had one of the most attractive faces women have ever seen. It looks like appearances aren't everything.
