HyeSun collected all the plates and carried them to the sink. She quickly washed them all and turned around to see YoungBae missing. She walked out of the kitchen and back to her room. YoungBae was sitting by her desk, reading her diary. HyeSun sneaked over to him and snatched her diary out of his grasp. His eyes traveled up to her face.
"Hi?" said YoungBae as innocently as he can.
"Don't be so innocent. I already caught you so there's no point. Besides, what's so interesting about my diary? If you want to know something, you can just ask. I have nothing to hide."
"If you had nothing to hide, you'll let me read your diary," He did have a point.
"But that diary is personal. Don't let me find your nosy self reading my diary again," She poked his chest and sat down on her bed.
"Okay," She didn't say he couldn't read her diary when she wasn't there, right? He wasn't going to tell her that. YoungBae leaned back on the chair as he stared at HyeSun's back. She was leaning over toward the nightstand. YoungBae turned toward her desk and grabbed her phone. He put his number in and took a picture of himself. By the time she turned back to him, her phone was back in its exact spot.
"Want to go anywhere later?" asked HyeSun.
"Sure. How about the park?" YoungBae insisted.
"In an hour. Let me rest," HyeSun took off the sweater and put it on the nightstand. She laid down and pulled the cover over her body.
"You always sleep this much?"
"Only when I don't have work. I need to catch up on some sleep for work tomorrow."
"Will I be able to see you tomorrow?"
"After 7PM. You can have me all to yourself if you're that selfish," She turned over and faced him. He admired her body even if it was covered by a thick blanket.
"I'm not selfish. Is there something wrong with wanting to spend time with you?" YoungBae leaned on the armrest and raised an eyebrow suggestively. HyeSun pulled the covers over her face. YoungBae went over to her bed and pulled the cover off her body.
"Now you're just being mean. Now I'm cold again," She tugged the cover back on her body. YoungBae slid himself under the covers and hugged HyeSun's small body to keep her warm. If he didn't know her real age, he would have thought she was a high school student or even a middle school student since most woman he saw were taller. He liked HyeSun just the way she was. If she was taller than him, he would feel a little awkward at times. YoungBae wondered if HyeSun thought he was short for a man since she probably noticed the height distance between him and his friends.
"Can I ask you a question?" HyeSun nodded. "Am I short?"
HyeSun touched his cheek and said, "Not to me. Besides, height doesn't matter. All that matters is this," She patted his beating heart. Her touch only made his heart beat a little faster. "So what if you're shorter than your friends? I love you just the way you are," Her smile assured YoungBae that she was telling the truth. "You don't see me complaining about my height so you shouldn't do that either. Okay?" YoungBae nodded. "Good. Anything else on your mind?"
"Are you sure I'm not a bad luck charm to you?" asked YoungBae.
"I already gave you my answer. If you don't believe me, I can't help you," HyeSun moved back a few inches when YoungBae removed his arm from her waist.
"Am I weird?" YoungBae didn't know how that question popped up.
"Yes you are," HyeSun chuckled at his question and her answer.
"I know I am. Just wanted to see if you thought the same," They felt like kids talking about this.
"Why are you so interested in my diary? Would you like it if I went through your stuff without permission?" YoungBae was taken back from her question.
"No," He answered. If she looked through his personal items without permission, she would think he's even weirder than anyone she ever met. Then she might not want to date him. He wouldn't want that to happen. It was only his guess but the only way to find out was just let time pass as they grow closer.
"My point exactly. If you want to snoop, at least you can ask me first. I don't mind unless," Before she could finish her sentence, YoungBae pulled her into a tight embrace and kissed her. He caught her off guard but she didn't mind. This kiss just made her realize how YoungBae was an experienced kisser. Probably because his lips kissed at least 3 other women in the past. HyeSun realized a lot more about YoungBae. He was probably the loneliest, saddest, sweetest man she ever met. That all could change in time. HyeSun just wondered if she would turn out like them. Dead. The kiss just made her realize that she had to be there for YoungBae.
