as she painted a bowl of fruit as was instructed in her
art class. She brushed across the paper in light but firm
strokes, back and forth. It was a very relaxing hobby for
her, and she enjoyed it. Soon the class was over, and
she picked up her things and left the classroom.
Donghae waited outside of the classroom for her.
"Yoori." He said, smiling. "Oppa." Yuri said, smiling
and they walked down the hallways to meet up with their
friends. "Dongseng "Donghae." Boa and Heechul called
to them. "Unnie." "Hyung." Yoori and Donghae called to
them. They all walked out of school, and Heechul and
Donghae, dropped Boa and Yoori off at Yoori's place.
They thanked them and waved goodbye. It was a Friday, so
after Boa and Yoori had dinner, they had a sleepover.
As Yoori and Boa stayed up talking, and laughing,
they grew tired. Yoori decided to ask Boa for advice.
"Unnie?" Yoori said as they both lay down on their
sleeping bags in the den. "Hmm?" Boa said sleepily.
"What should I do about Donghae oppa?" She asked her.
"Tell him you like him. How hard is that?" Boa said.
"But unnie.." Yoori said. Boa sighed. "If you want, I
could tell him then. Or put in a good word for you or
something." Boa said. "Really? You'd do that Unnie?" Yoori
said. "Yes, dongseng. Now let's go to sleep." Boa said.
Yoori nodded and they both went to sleep.
Monday morning, Yoori and Boa went to school. Yoori
was anxious to find out when Boa would talk to Donghae.
"Unnie, you're going to tell him today right?" Yoori
asked. "Yes, dongseng." Boa said. They then went separate
ways to their classes. By the end of the day, Yoori
left her class, and Donghae wasn't waiting as usual.
She shrugged and walked down the hallway, and found
Heechul along the way. "Heechul oppa, have you seen
Donghae oppa? Or Boa unnie?" He asked. Heechul said
he didn't know. They walked down the hallway, and both of
their eyes, widened, when they saw Boa and Donghae
walking towards them, hand in hand. "OMO." Yoori said.
"What the?" Heechul said. Boa and Donghae stopped walking,
and let go of each other's hands. They smiled at Yoori
and Heechul. Yoori felt her heart shatter into pieces, but
tried to fake her dissapointment. "Uh you guys
are going out now?" Heechul asked. They nodded.
"Oh, chuka hae." Yoori said, congratulating them. They
went out of the school and went to Donghae's car.
Donghae and Boa sat in the front for the first time,
usually the guys would sit in front. While Heechul
and Yoori sat in the back, awkwardly. The drive
home was silent, they dropped Boa off first, then Yoori.
She thanked Donghae and left hurriedly. She ran up
the stairs, and slammed her door shut, as she slid down
to the floor, tears falling quickly down her face.
She cried for a few minutes, then went to her bathroom
to go wash her face. "How did this happen?" She wondered.
I guess I better go call Unnie. She left the bathroom
and went back to her room. She sat down on the edge
of her bed, and called up Boa. "Unnie?" Yoori said.
"Dongseng. About earlier um.." Boa said. "What happened?"
She asked. "Well, I was starting to tell Donghae about
you, but then he said that he liked me, and then I
was like, I really don't know, but then I didn't know
if I should tell him that you liked him, cause he said
he liked me, and you know. So I reluctantly said I'd
try to go out with him." Boa explained. "Oh." Yoori
said. "I could just call it off dongseng." Boa
said. "Oh, no unnie. it's ok. I don't want donghae
oppa to be hurt." Yoori said, sadly. "Oh, okay. Sorry
again dongseng, it probably won't even work out." Boa
said. "Bye." Yoori said and hung up.
A few weeks had passed by, with Yoori pretending
to be happy for Donghae and Boa. But all of them seemed
to notice, something was wrong with her. Yoori was
not doing her best in her paintings anymore, feeling too
tired. She just told them she was just stressed from
homework, but they were hesitant to believe that.
Yoori sat on a bench in the park, as snow fell, she
shivered and buttoned up her coat fully and wrapped
her scarf around her neck again. She sat there, as
tears slowly fell down her face. "Dongseng." A voice
called to her. Yoori looked up and saw Donghae, standing
there. He looked concerned. "Why are you crying?" He
asked, and sat down beside her. "I'm not crying." She
said, though she sniffed. "Are you sure? What's wrong?
Tell me." He said. "Shouldn't you be with Unnie or
something?" She asked him. He sighed. "We broke up"
He said. She looked at him. "Why?" She asked. "It wasn't
working out. I just couldn't pretend anymore." He said.
"Pretend? What do you mean pretend?" She asked him.
"In the beginning she had told me that she liked me. And
I told her that, I didn't feel that way, but I told
her I would try to go out with her." He said.
Yoori's eyes widened. "What? She told me that you said
that to her, that you asked her out, and she said
that she would try." Yoori said in disbelief. "What?
Why would she say that?" He said. "Wait. Oppa. You
don't like unnie?" She said. He shook his head. "Then
why pretend?" She asked him. "Because she said that you
didn't really date. I first started off by asking her
if she could put in a good word for me with you. Then
she said you didn't really date, but that she liked me..
and you know the rest of the story." He explained.
"What?! She said I didn't date?!!" Yoori exclaimed.
"Oh, that wasn't true?" He said. "Aish. Unnie really.
She was supposed to put in a good word for me with you."
Yoori explained. "She was?" Donghae said. Yoori nodded,
and became embarrassed, realizing she just confessed.
"You like me?" He said. She nodded again. "You wanted
unnie to put in a good word for you with me?" She asked.
He nodded as well. "Well, now that we've got that
settled, why were you crying?" He asked again. Yoori
sighed. "Because, I was still hurt over the fact
that you went out with Boa. I thought you liked her."
She admitted. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you.
I thought you didn't like me." He said. "I thought you
didn't like me." She said. "Well, I do. So don't
cry anymore." He said. "Ah rah suh." She said happily.
They turned to each other, smiling. And Donghae, leaned
in kissing her softly, as snow fell down on them lightly
and onto the ground.
