sat down at the cafeteria table, next to HoSook, along with
Eunhyuk and LieYing and Yoori and Donghae. They all
nodded. "Aww" He said, slightly sad.
"Yah. KiBum, we're seniors. How can you be sad over
cookies?" Donghae said to him. KiBum shrugged.
"Here. Oppa. I
got an extra one." Ho Sook said, handing him a cookie.
"Thanks dongseng." He said, taking it from her.
"Mhmm." She said. While KiBum was looking down, as he
munched the cookie, the rest of the group, smirked
at her. "Boh?" She mouthed to them. But they just smirked.
She glared at them. Her brother Donghae, made a heart
sign with his hand and pointed at her then KiBum.
HoSook glared at her older brother, and shook her head.
They stopped when he looked back up having finished
with his cookie. "What?" KiBum said to them.
"Nothing." They said and continued to have a conversation
again. Soon after the bell rang, and they went back to
class.
It was the last day of school before winter break.
HoSook handed out candy to her friends, along with
Christmas cards. She gave LieYing and Yuri hugs.
"Dongseng! We're going to miss you!!" Yoori and
LieYing squealed as they hugged her tightly.
"Girls." Eunhyuk and Donghae said. Yoori and LieYing
glared at their boyfriend slightly. The guys cleared
their throats and said nothing more. "Bye oppa." HoSook
said to KiBum, giving him a light hug. Somehow the
group had dissappeared when they let go from the hug.
They looked around the hallway, surprised. "Uh.."
KiBum said, shuffling his feet around a little bit.
"I guess I'll see you in two weeks. Right oppa?" Ho Sook
said. She was really going to miss him. KiBum nodded,
giving her that smile, that made many girls at their
school swoon in an instant. She swooned inside, and hoped
it didn't show. She just smiled back, warmly. He hugged
her this time, tighter, and she hugged him back. Then
they let go. "Bye oppa." Ho Sook, said, smiling and
waving goodbye as she walked down the hallway to go to
find her brother. They had to go home and then they
would go the airport in a few hours.
When KiBum got home, the first thing he did was
go up to his room, sitting down at his desk, and opening
the card that HoSook had given him.
KiBum oppa,
This is the first time in 6 years that I won't be
home for Winter Break. Usually we go out and hang out with
our friends, going to the mountains, ice skating, drinking
hot chocolate and all that. What are you going to do
when there's no one to give you their extra cookie?
But in all seriousness, I'm really going to miss you
oppa, you'll miss me too right? I hope you like your gift.
Merry Christmas. -Ho Sook
KiBum then opened the small wrapped gift that
HoSook had given him. It was a picture frame when he
and Ho Sook were in the sixth grade. They were
smiling widely, holding large chocolate chip cookies
in their hands. He smiled. Along with that, he pulled
out a watch. He was surprised. It was the watch that he
wanted before. "How could she have gotten me this?" He
wondered. He looked at the watch's time. "6:45PM"
Ho Sook's flight was at 7PM. Could he make it?
He got up quickly from the chair, picking up his jacket,
running down the stairs, and out the front door. He
hopped into his car and drove to the airport. There
was serious traffic, and time was running out. As he waited
at a jammed intersection. He couldn't take it any longer.
He took the keys out of the ignition, and hopped out of
the car. Running throught the other cars that were waiting
as they honked at him. He finally made it to the sidewalk
and ran as fast as he could down the sidestreets, passing
through bicicylists and pedestrians. He finally arrived
at the airport, gasping. He looked around, and looked
up at the schedule of flights. It said that HoSook was
boarding now. He quickly ran to the terminal gate that
she was supposed to go to.
"Flight 203 Seoul, to Paris. Is now boarding." An
attendant announced over the intercome. Ho Sook, sat up
from her seat, along with her brother, and mom and dad.
They went to the terminal gates, and had their passports
checked, and they started to go up the ramp to go to the
airplane.
KiBum finally reached the terminal gate. And saw
Ho Sook, through the clear glass, going up the ramp
to the airplane. "Ho Sook! Ho Sook!" He yelled for her,
but she didn't hear him, and wasn't faced his way either.
He tried to pass the attendants, but they stopped him.
"I'm sorry sir, but you need to have ticket." She said.
KiBum nodded and hurriedly went to the ticket counter.
"When's the next flight to Paris?" He asked. "The next
flight is tommorow at 6 in the morning." The woman at
the ticket counter said. "Tommorow? Isn't there someway
you can postpone the flight now?" He asked. She shook her
head. KiBum nodded, and bought a ticket for the following
day's flight.
"HoSook. What's wrong?" Her brother asked her as they
went around, Paris, sight seeing. They had gone to the
Louvre Museum, and the Eiffel tower, and taken pictures,
and learned new things. "Huh? Ani. Nothing." She said.
"You miss him don't you?"Her brother whispered to her.
"Hmm? Who?" She said innocently. "I know you like KiBum."
He said knowingly. HoSook's eyes widened. "What? N-No."
She said. "You can tell him you like him when we get
back." Donghae suggested. "What? I--he..I'll try." Ho
Sook said. Donghae nodded and he and his sister hurried
to catch up with their mom and dad. As they walked along
the cobblestone streets, Donghae received a phonecall.
"Hello? What?!" He exclaimed. His mom, dad, and Ho Sook,
turned around, looking at him funny. He smiled sheepishly
and kept his voice down. "Yeah, uh huh. Okay." He
said, then hung up. "Who was that?" Ho Sook asked.
"Eunhyuk hyung. He said that he accidentally fed
MoMo the wrong food, and had to take him to the vet."
Donghae made up. "OMO. Oppa did what?" HoSook said.
"It'll be okay. MoMo will be fine." Donghae reassured her.
Soon they got back to their hotel. Donghae suggested
that his parents, go out and have some dinner for
themselves, on their own. They took his offer and left
the hotel room. Yuri went to her separate room, that
was joined to her brother's and parent's room. "Dongseng."
Donghae called. "Hmm?" HoSook said, as she lay on her bed,
tired from all the walking. "I'm going out. I'm getting
some food. I'll be back in half an hour." He said.
HoSook nodded. She lay on her bed, falling asleep.
She woke up to the sound of violins. She got up,
and went over to her balcony window. She pushed
the double doors open, and looked down. To her
surprise, she saw KiBum down there, smiling up at her,
with a bouquet of red roses in his hands.
There was a string quarted playing "The One I Love"
on the violins. HoSook looked down at him in disbelief.
"O-oppa." She said, in shock. The violin playing died
down, playing very softly as he started to speak. Other
people who were nearby, became silent and wondered
what was going on. "HoSook, I came here, because I really
missed you. I should've told you back when we were at
Seoul, how I felt. But I'm telling you now, that I
love you. More than a dongseng. I came all the way here,
because I just had to tell you that. Saranghae."
He said. HoSook was still in shock, and couldn't believe
all of this was happening. A few french people, were
looking at the scene, not understanding since he
was talking in Korean, but they seemed to understand
the sincerity in his voice. They decided to leave the
street to give the two more privacy. "I-I.." HoSook
said, unable to grasp her words. KiBum hung his head
down slightly. "That's all I needed to hear." He said,
sadly, starting to walk away. "No oppa wait!" HoSook
called to him. She ran out the hotel door, and
quickly down the stairs and out the front door, and
around the side of the building. She ran to him,
hugging him tightly. "Nado saranghae oppa." She said.
KiBum became happy and hugged her tightly back. He told
the violin quartet they could leave and they did.
He then pulled back a little, looking down at her.
HoSook became shy, but smiled up at him slightly as he
smiled down at her. He leaned in towards her, cupping
her face with his hands gently, and she closed her eyes
their lips met softly, the snow falling down on them.
