Chapter 24

fall-olcia & jiyong Part II

They soon arrived at the coffee shop, and Jiyong

opened the door, letting her go in first. Then he followed

after her. They ordered their coffee and sat down at

one of the tables, talking. "So, how's your music

thing going?" She asked. "Alright." He said.

"That's good." She said. As they sat drinking their coffee,

Olcia kept hearing Yuri inside her head saying, "tell him."

She shook her head slightly. "Are you okay?" Jiyong

asked. Olcia smiled. "Yeah." She said. He smiled back.

"Maybe Yuri is right?" She thought to herself.

After they were done drinking their coffee, they left

the shop, and walked down the street. A construction

site, was nearby. "Olcia." Jiyong said as they

walked. "Yeah?" She said looking at him. Jiyong took

in a breathe, and said. "I like you." He said. She

couldn't hear him, because a construction worker had

started drilling into the ground. After he had

stopped, she said. "What?" She said. Jiyong tried

again. "I like you!" He said louder this time.

She looked at him, confused. Jiyong gave up, maybe

it was a sign that he shouldn't tell her. Finally the

drilling had stopped. "Okay, what?" She said.

"Oh, I said, I think there's something on your shoe."

He made up. She lifted up her foot, and inspected under

the heel, seeing nothing. "Oh, uh. I guess it went

away." He said lamely. She looked at him funny, but

thanked him anyway. Then they continued to walk down

the streets, until they parted ways, waving goodbye to

each other.

"Ahh, why didn't I tell him?" Olcia thought to herself

as she walked home. "But, he was yelling something to me,

and it sounded like "you" at the end. Could he have been

confessing?" She thought, but then shook her head.

"Nah." She said. She walked up the stairs of her

apartment complex, then turned the key, and walked into

her apartment, closing the door behind her.

The following morning, she was in the library of

her University, studying for a midterm. She was at one

of the study carrels, when she heard Jiyong and a few

other guys whispering. "Dude. It seems like there's

something going on with you and Olcia." One guy said.

"We're just friends." Jiyong said. "Yeah, but.. I don't

know, you seem like you're really into her man, you know?"

Another guy said. "Look, we're just friends okay? I

don't like her like that." Jiyong said, forcefully,

he was lying of course. Olcia overheard this, and

became sad. Well, she knew how he felt now. She

quietly slipped out of the library with her things,

After Olcia got through her classes, she was walking down

the hallway, when Jiyong was walking the opposite way.

He stopped to chat. "Hey, Olcia." He said, smiling.

She didn't smile back, but said "hi." unenthusiastically.

He noticed her tone. "Hey, is something wrong?" He

asked, concerned. "No, everything's fine." She said.

"You sure? You know you can talk to me anytime if you

want." He offered. "Sure Jiyong, cause we're friends,

and all. Just friends, I know I can talk to you about

things." She retorted, emphasizing the word 'friends.'

He looked confused at first, but then understood.

"No, Olcia. What I said with the guys.." He started to

say. "It's fine. Really. I have to get going."

She said quickly, then left the University, going to

her apartment, she closed the door, tearing up slightly.

She turned on the t.v., and looked at the weather

forecast. "An unusual, weather report, considering it is

fall season now. A storm, is heading our way, be prepared

for heavy showers." the forecaster announced. Olcia

turned off the t.v., and started to hear the

booming of thunder, and rain pouring outside.

when a few seconds later, she heard insistent knocking.

She walked to the door, and looked through the peephole,

seeing Jiyong. She sighed. "I don't want to talk right

now. Jiyong." She called through the door. "Olcia. Please,

can you just come out for a minute?" He asked her.

"No. Whatever it is, just tell me from out there."

She said. "Okay. I know now, that you heard what I

said to the guys in the library." He started to say.

"Yeah. And?" She said. "I'm sorry if I hurt you, by

saying that. But the truth is, I lied to them. I like

you Olcia. That's what I was trying to tell you yesterday,

but the drill kept drowning out my voice. I know, I'm

a coward, for not being able to tell the guys. I'm

a jerk, for brushing off our friendship, like it

was nothing. I'm sorry. I hate it, when you're mad

at me like this. I know, maybe I don't deserve a second

chance to make things right with you, but no matter

what you decide, if you'll ever forgive me or not,

I still want you to know that I like you." He said.

Olcia stood behind the door, surprised at his confession.

He had stopped talking, and she wondered if he had left.

She slowly removed the chain lock from her door, then

opened the other lock on her door, and slowly opened the

door. She saw him, already on the first floor. She hurried

down the stairs, and walked to him. He turned and saw

her, walking towards him, and he stopped walking.

She stood in front of him, as the rain beat down

on them. She just looked at him, speechless for a moment.

She looked him straight in the eyes, and said.

"Do you really mean it?" She asked him. He looked at

her, with intensity, and said. "I really mean it." He

said, sincerely. "Well then, I guess I could give you

another chance." She said smiling. He smiled back, and

took her hands in his. "Really?" He said happily.

She nodded. He removed his grasp from her hands and

gently took her face in his, leaning in, until their

lips met softly. She wrapped her arms around his neck,

as they deepened the kiss, not caring that the rain

continued to pour down on them.
