Chapter 28

random one shot-autumn

DanBi was walking around the library, looking

for a book. She stood in front of the fiction section,

and backed up a few feet to examine the books, when

she felt herself bump into someone. She turned

around and tripped, falling into the person's arms.

She quickly got up and apologized, bowing.

"S-sorry." She apologized and was surprised

to see a guy around her age. "That's alright." He

said with a small smile. "I'm WooYoung. Jang WooYoung."

He said extending his hand to shake her own. She took

it and shook his hand, somewhat shyly. "I'm Danbi. Shin

Danbi." She said, hoping she wasn't blushing.

They talked for awhile, and they seemed to share

similar interests. Danbi was a dancer like him.

"So, do you want to maybe go out sometime?" He asked.

She was flattered, but wasn't used to the attention,

and a part of her retreated emotionally in her mind,

so she found herself saying. "Uh, you seem really

nice and all, but.." She started to say, but

he interrupted her. "Oh, I see." He said grimly.

"No wait. I didn't mean it like that it's just.."

She started to say. "It's cool. Nice meeting you."

He said and walked around to a different section

of the library. DanBi sighed and walked to the

non-fiction section to talk to her friend about

what happened. "Aigoo. Why did I say that?"

DanBi said to her friend YooJin as they sat on

the carpeted floor behind the non-fiction section.

YooJin turned to her. "I don't know why did you

say that?" YooJin asked her. "I guess cause I'm

not used to the attention? I kinda bolted like a deer

in headlights." DanBi said, sighing. "Well, he's still

here right? Get a backbone and go talk to him!"

YooJin said. "But Unni.." DanBi said. "Go. Go. Go."

YooJin said shooing her from the nonfiction.

DanBi relented and stood up from the nonfiction section.

"Hwaiting!" YooJin whispered loudly. DanBi nodded,

determined, and was a bit too determined and ended

up running around the building to look for him. She

was passing the manga section, when she noticed

a few feet behind her at that section was WooYoung.

Just as she stopped and was about to back up,

some girl, tripped and fell into his arms, the same

way she did a few minutes earlier. DanBi looked

at him, somewhat sadly. WooYoung looked at her

in surprised, but then in dissappointment.

The girl got up, bowing, and walked off. "You planned

this right?" He said. "What? No. How could you even."

Danbi said. He held up both of his hands. Danbi

sighed and walked off, but then felt the need to sing

as she walked out of the library, she sang loudly.

"Mianhaeyo, kudaerul apugaehaesuh. mianhaeyo."

She went outside of the library, and sat down

under the shade of a tree, whose leaves were turning

golden and orange. The wind blew slightly,

causing the leaves to cascade downward, in a feather

like motion, swaying back and forth in the wind, until

it softly hit the ground. Danbi sighed again. She heard

the doors of the library open and someone walk out.

She sat there, looking down at the cement sidewalk,

until someone in a pair of black vans stood in front

of her. The shoes looked a little familiar. She looked

up and saw WooYoung. She became wide eyed. He took her

hand in his. "Danbi, I'm sorry I didn't let you

explain. Can we start over? Please go out with me."

He said sincerely. Danbi smiled, nodding. He smiled

back.
