Chapter 3

winter-lie ying & eunhyuk

Lie Ying sat in front of the piano of the music room,

playing the piano as she sang lyrics that someone had made up

for "Kiss the Rain." She put her whole heart into it,

projecting her voice so it spread throughout the room.

In a sense, it made her think of Eunhyuk. She would

sometimes dream that he liked her, but she felt that

the possibility of that happening was unlikely. Sure they

were friends, but that was all they seemed to ever be.

"I often close my eyes, and I can see you smile, you

reach out for my hand, and then I'm woken from my dream,

although your heart is mine, it's hollow inside, I

never had your love, I never will. And every night, I lie

awake thinking maybe you love me like I've always loved

you. But how can you love me like I, loved you when you

can't even look me straight in my eyes?.." She sang, then

stopped abruptly, when EunHyuk came into the room.

"Hey LieYing, that's quite a song you sang there." He

said. "Please don't let him know, please don't let him

know its about him." She thought desperately. She nodded.

"You're not going to finish the song?" He asked.

She shook her head. "Did you need something oppa?" She

asked. "There's a snowball fight outside. Wanna come?"

He asked. "Aren't we a little too old for that?" She

asked. "For snow ball fights? never." he said smiling.

She had to smile back at this. "Okay." She said, she got

up from the piano bench, and closed it. Then they walked

outside to the front of the school, where the snowball

fight was. LieYing reached down, and scooped up some of the

snow, with her gloved hands, and compacted it into a ball,

then she threw it swiftly at ShinDong. "Hey." He said,

rubbing his shoulder where she had hit him. "Sorry oppa."

She called chuckling a little. EunHyuk shook his head

at this, smirking. LieYing shrugged, then went back to

the fight. When she wasn't aware of it, EunHyuk suddenly

threw a snowball at her. Lie Ying turned around, surprised.

"OPPA!! I"M ON YOUR TEAM!!" She called to him. He just

laughed it off. LieYing went after him, trying to hit him

back with snowballs, as he tried to dodge, running

away from her attacks. She finally caught up to him,

and they were both on slippery ground. She managed to hit

him with the snowball, in the shoulder, right before

they both slipped. Lie Ying braced herself, ready to

feel the impact of the hard ground, but when she opened

her eyes, she was on top of EunHyuk. He was shocked as

well, and stared up at her. LieYing blushed a little,

and quickly brought herself up, then helped EunHyuk

up as well. "Eh, sorry oppa." She said. "No, it's okay.

It's my fault." He said, rubbing the back of his head.

They stood, blinking at each other for a few seconds and

then went back to the snowball fight with the rest of

the students. Later on, Lie Ying was leaving school,

when EunHyuk offered to drive her home, as usual.

They got into his car, and the ride back to her house,

was unusually quiet, when they got there, EunHyuk

finally spoke up. "LieYing." He said as she was unbuckling

her seatbelt. "Hmm?" She said, turning to look at him.

"Uh, KiBum's having a Christmas party later. Do you

want to come with me?" He asked. "You mean like as

your date or..?" She said, unsure. "Oh, uh. As friends

you know." He said quickly. Her heart sank a little,

but she brushed it off. "Okay." She said, smiling.

"Great. I'll pick you up at 7PM?" He asked. she nodded,

getting out of the car, then thanked him for the ride,

and waved him goodbye.

A few hours later, Lie Ying was unsure of what to

wear. But after going through her closet, she decided to

try something a little different. She put on a long sleeved

knit top, a plaid skirt, that was slightly above the knees

black tights and black ankle boots. She would then put her

winter coat and scarf over that, along with her gloves,

but not until she would leave her house. She then sat

in front of her vanity. She curled her eyelashes, applied

mascara, and a slightly glittery black eyeliner, focusing

on the inner corners of her eyes. Then she applied a nude

lipgloss. Then she let her hair down loosely, curling the

ends slightly. She looked at the time. 6:40. EunHyuk

would be there soon. She then got her coat, scarf, and

gloves and went downstairs to wait for him. Soon, the

doorbell rang, she hurriedly went over, opening it before

her parents would try to go over and chat. EunHyuk gaped

at her a little. "What?" She said as she closed the front

door behind her, then started to slip on the winter coat,

then the scarf and gloves. "You..look really pretty."

he said. "Oh, thanks." She said, hoping it was too dark

for him to see her blushing. They got into the car

and headed over to the party. People were mingling,

eating, dancing, as the music blared loudly. EunHyuk

and LieYing went around, talking to their friends, a few

people asking them if they were together, but both shook

their hands, laughing. Soon it was getting late and they

headed out the front door. Just as they got to the

doorway, someone cleared their throat. They turned

to see some girl say, "It's bad luck if you don't kiss

under the mistletoe." She said, smirking slightly, then

went back into the house, drink in hand. LieYing and Eunhyuk

looked up, to see mistletoe hanging slightly from the

doorway. They both grew uncomfortable. "Uh, well." She

said. "You don't have to." He said. "Well, I mean, I'm

a little bit superstitous, but maybe, it wouldn't be

weird if it was just a peck." She said. EunHyuk nodded,

and leaned down, as LieYing closed her eyes, she felt

his lips press hers softly, and then she became surprised

when she felt his arms wrap around her. But she felt him

linger longer, and soon found herself, kissing him back,

as she wrapped her arms around his neck. After a few seconds

they broke apart. LieYing looked up at him, slightly

embarrassed. "Um, oppa. Why?.." She asked. "Sorry, I

just got caught up in the moment I guess." He explained.

"Oh." She said. "So what was that? You kissed me back."

He said. "Um, well I uh.." She said. "I like you Lie Ying."

He interrupted. She looked up at him surprised. "What?

Really?" She asked. He nodded. "I like you too oppa."

She said. He smiled and pulled her in for another kiss

as snow fell down the ground.
