is dying! Please. You have to come and see him! Don't let
what happened with halmuni and haraboji happen. You have to
see him one last time! Please." Ryanghee begged her
mother, hysterically, with tears streaming down her
face. They were in the dining room of their house. Her
mother sat down at the far end of the long rectangular
table. Her expression unable to be read. Ryanghee's
father was in the hospital, and he was very ill. She
had visited him, but gone back home to get her mother
to see him one last time, before he passed away.
Her mother then looked up at her daughter, her eyes shining
with tears. "I can't dear. I'm sorry. It's just too
painful. I can't bare to see him like this." Her mother
said, her voice cracking with emotion. "Omma. Omma
please!" Ryanghee said, clutching onto her mother's
hands in desperation.

"Ryanghee. Ryanghee. Ryanghee wake up!" A deep
male voice called to her, waking her up. Ryanghee's eyes
shot open quickly, her heart pounding, and she started
crying from the vividness of her dream. "Oppa." She said
weakly. Top hugged her. "It's okay. You were just
dreaming." He said soothingly. She hugged him tighter.
"I know. But why would I have a dream like that? My
dad's perfectly healthy and I dream that he's dying?!"
She said. He stroked her hair comfortingly. "It's just
a dream. It just happens sometimes." He said reassuringly.
Ryanghee sniffed and broke apart from him. "Are you
sure?" She asked him. Top nodded. "Go to sleep dongseng."
He said. "Okay. Thanks oppa." She said. He nodded again
and left her room, going back to the guest room, beside
her room. He was staying there for the night, because
his dad had kicked him out again. He was a nice guy, but
his dad could really lose his temper with Top at times.
So the Kim's graciously invited him to stay with them for
the night. Ryanghee was very good friends with
Top since freshmen year of highschool. He was always there
for her. Now they were in their first year of college.
She had gotten into Donguk University, while he attended
Kyunghee University. They still managed to find time
to hang out, and were able to talk freely, even though
they no longer had classes together. She enjoyed her
time with him.She secretly admitted herself that she liked
him.But she knew all saw her as, was just a dongseng.
Ryanghee sighed and went back to sleep.
"He did it again didn't he?" Top said as he and
Ryanghee walked along the shore of the beach, near
their neighborhood. RyangHee nodded sadly. "Why do you
always go back to him?" Top said wondering. She sighed.
"I don't know oppa. Joon oppa, he..I just always seem to
believe him again." She said. "Well you deserve better
than that." He said firmly. Ryanghee nodded. They
walked back to their neighborhood, separating at the
cross section at the sidestreet of their neighborhood
and walked to their houses.
Three months later...
"Ryanghee honey, someone's here to see you." Mrs. Kim
called up to Ryanghee on their houses intercom. The Kim's
were fairly wealthy. Mr. Kim was a CEO of Samsung. Ryanghee
lived a pretty good life. Ryanghee sighed and went
downstairs and was surprised to see Kim Joon standing in
the front foyer of the house. "What do you want now
oppa?" Ryanghee said as they stood in the foyer, with
her arms crossed. Joon sighed and removed her arms from
her crossed position and took her left hand in his, and
kneeled down. "Ryanghee ah, I have been the biggest fool.
And I promise I will never leave you again. I love you.
Will you marry me?" He said, taking out a box from
his back pocket, opening it to reveal a diamond ring
of immense proportions. RyangHee's eyes widened.
She wasn't exactly sure if she would accept, but she
felt that she didn't have any chance with Top. And plus,
as much as her parents liked Top, Joon's family was
wealthier. She wasn't concerned about money, but she
thought about how this marriage would benefit the Kim
family. "I..I..yes." RyangHee said. Joon smiled, slipping
the ring on her finger, then standing up, giving her a
quick peck on the lips. Ryanghee felt no spark but smiled
meekly. They then walked to her dad's study to talk with
him and her mom about the wedding plans. Her parents
were surprised but seemed thrilled.
Later on that night...
Ryanghee decided to call Top, wondering how he would
take the news. "Oppa?" RyangHee said. "Ryanghee. Hey.
What's up?" he said. "Uh well, I'm getting married."
She said softly. "What? Don't tell me. Joon came back
again, and you're falling for it again?!" He exclaimed.
"Oppa." Ryanghee said, surprised and a little hurt.
She could hear Top sigh on the other end of the line
before speaking. "Look dongseng. If this is what you
really want, then I wish you the best alright?" He said.
"Thanks oppa." Ryanghee said softly. She heard the line
click on the other end, as he hung up. She sighed and
plopped down on her large queen sized, laying down on
the multitudes of white fluffly pillows, and her white
fluffy comforter, laying beneath her white silk canopy.
She buried her face in one of her pillows in confusion
and exasperation.
Three months later...
After that last phone conversation, Top and Ryanghee
had not spoken to each other since then. The wedding
came around very quickly, very rushed. Ryanghee stood
in white gown, still feeling a great pang of doubt inside
of her. But she brushed the feeling aside, and took in
a breath, as one of her bridesmaids fixed her veil.
"Unni, this came for you." One of her younger friends
said to her, handing her an envelope with her name
on it. Ryanghee nodded. They told her that they would
process in in a few minutes. She nodded again and told them
to wait by the church doors for her, she'd be out in a
minute. They nodded and left her for a moment.
Ryanghee opened the flap of the envelope and pulled out
a note. She knew that handwriting anywhere. Her hands
shook slightly as she began to read it.
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Ryanghee,
Today is your wedding day. I know I've been known to not
have the best timing on certain things. And right now, what
I'm about to say, would count as one of those times. We've
known each other for five years now, and we've developed
a close friendship. And along the way, though I've been
such a fool for never saying, the truth is I love you.
And I know that I have no right to say this, but in my
heart, I truly feel that I could love you more than
Joon can. He's always hurt you, and the cycle never ends.
He breaks your heart, then he comes back and you forgive
him. I have always been here for you, because I love
you. I'm sure you look beautiful, as I always thought you
were, standing there in your wedding gown. But, if you
are truly happy with Joon, then my regretful heart,
wishes you the best.
Love,
Seunghyun oppa
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Ryanghee stood there, as she finished the letter. In
sadness, and surprise at his words. So he had loved her
also? "I..I can't do this." She thought to herself. She
wrote a quick note to Joon and told one of her bridesmaids
to deliver it to him, after she had left. "SungMi, give
this to Joon please. I can't do this." Ryanghee whispered
to her. SungMi's eyes widened, but then she smiled.
SungMi nodded. "Go Unni. I knew you and Top oppa were
supposed to be together." SungMi whispered back to her.
Ryanghee smiled, thanking her and pushed through the
entrance doors of the church. It was freezing outside,
but it just made Ryanghee more alert. She hiked up her
gown a few inches away from the snowy ground, and ran
down the street, her long veil flying behind her.
She ran all the way back to the beach by her neighborhood,
hurrying up to that area that she and Top used to go to.
She saw him there, his back facing her, with his hands
resting on the wooden railings, slightly covered with
snow. Ryanghee took in a breath. "Oppa." She called out
to him, as she stood a few feet behind him. He turned
around, surprised. She slowly walked up to him, and she
made her way beside him, to the right of him, standing
behind the railings as well. She turned to her left and
looked at him with all seriousness. "Oppa. I..I had no
idea how you felt about me. But, the truth is, I did
have doubts when I agreed to marry Joon. The reason I said
yes, was because I thought that I didn't have a chance
with you, so I agreed to marry him. But I don't love him.
I love you oppa. You've always been there for me, and
you've never hurt me the way that he has. And I am so
sorry, that I took that for granted, but I am so thankful
for having you by my side. I couldn't marry him. I chose
the wrong person oppa. I'm sorry." Ryanghee said, her voice
shaking slightly with emotion. Top looked at her, his dark
eyes filled with intensity. She slightly afraid for what
his answer would be. He stepped forward a few steps,
enclosing the space between them, then gently shook of
some snow that had fallen onto her veil. He smiled at her
love in his eyes, and said teasingly with a smirk.
"Well, I'm glad you figured it out before it was too late."
He said. Ryanghee smiled, whacking him on the arm lightly.
He laughed and leaned in, wrapping his arms around her.
Ryanghee closed her eyes and soon felt his lips meet
her own, softly. And this time she felt sparks.
