earmuffs, scarf, and finally her snow boats. She then
picked up her backpacking, slinging it over one shoulder,
and held a small thermos of hot chocolate in the other.
She then opened her front door, bracing herself for the
wind. She pulled her front door closed then trudged
through the snow to get to school. As she was almost
there, she suddenly heard a cracking noise and saw the
tree that she was near to, slowly falling down in
her direction. She went into panic mode and stayed
still, closing her eyes. She expected the tree to
hit her any moment, but instead felt something push
her aside. She felt the whole back of her body,
ache slightly, but cushioned in the snow somewhat. She
opened her eyes, and saw Taemin looking down at her,
concerned. "Dezzy. Are you okay?" He asked her.
"Yes but oww." She moaned in pain. "What's wrong?"
He asked her. "Uh, oppa, can you get off of me?" She
said, embarrased. "Oh. Sorry." Taemin said, smling
sheepishly. He got off of her and helped her stand up.
"Thanks for saving me back there. I always end up
going into stationary mode when that happens." Dezzy
explained. He smiled. "No problem." He said. "Were you
walking to school?" She asked him. He nodded and they
walked the rest of the way together. When they walked
through the front door of the school building, Dezzy
spoke up. "Oppa, I really owe you though." She said.
"It's okay. You probably would've just had a big
bump on your head. We wouldn't want that now would
we?" He said with a smile. Dezzy smiled back. "No.
But, still. Here. Have some hot chocolate." She said,
offering him the thermos. "It's okay, I don't want
to take your hot chocolate." He said. "No. Just have
some." She said, grabbing a disposable cup, from their
water jug machine. She poured some into the cup.
"Oh, okay." Taemin said, thanking her then drank some.
"It's good." He said with a smile. Dezzy nodded smiling
back. Just then a flash of pink and sequins flashed by
and the next thing they new, the hot chocolate in
the thermos had spilled onto Dezzy's coat, but luckily
she wasn't burnt. Taemin and Dezzy turned and saw SoHee,
looking surprised. "OMO. Dezzy, mianhae. It was an
accident." SoHee said, feigning innocence. "It's okay
Unni." Dezzy said, sighing. "Yah. Ahn SoHee wanna die?"
Dezzy's elder friend, JanDi said. SoHee just smirked
at her. "Unni, it's okay." Dezzy said softly.
"Come on dongseng, I can get that stain out of
your coat. Sometimes it helps to be a daughter of
a dry cleaner." She said, then rushed her to the girl's
bathroom. "Taemin ssi, wanna go get boba after school?"
SoHee said, batting her eyelashes at him. Taemin just
smiled politely. "It's okay. I have to get home early
today." He said. "Oh, okay. Maybe next time?" She
said. Taemin nodded and waved goodbye. She nodded and
as he turned his back on her and walked away. She
made a frustrated face. "Gah. He must be completely
smitten with that girl." SoHee said, frustratingly and
stormed off in the opposite direction of the hallway.
JanDi succesfully got the stain out of Dezzy's coat.
"That girl is trouble. How can you just stay calm like
that?" JanDi asked her. Dezzy shrugged. "She said it
was an accident." She said to JanDi. JanDi sighed.
"Dongseng, don't let her innocence fool you. She did
that on purpose to make you look bad in front of Taemin."
JanDi explained. "She did?" Dezzy said. JanDi nodded.
"Why would she do that?" Dezzy asked. "Because she wants
to break yours and Taemin's relationship apart." JanDi
explained to her again. "Why? We're just friends."
Dezzy said confused. "Maybe. But she wants you out of
the way. But keep your head up dongseng." JanDi advised.
Dezzy nodded and they left the girl's bathroom.
Later on that day, after school was over, Dezzy was
walking out of the school, wondering where Taemin was,
since he usually walked home with her. She waited a few
minutes, but after he had no sign of coming, she left
without him.
Inside the school, Taemin was walking down the hallway
to go walk with Dezzy home, but SoHee came around the
corner. "Hey oppa. You going home? I'll come with you."
She said. "That's okay nuna. I'm kind of in a hurry."
He said. SoHee sighed. "Why?! Why does it have to be her?!"
She burst out. Taemin was surprised. "What do you mean?"
He said. "Everyone can see you like her. Maybe everyone
but her. Fine. I'll let you go." SoHee said, then went off
around the corner. Taemin sighed, feeling bad. But
wondered, was it really obvious how he felt about Dezzy.
He left the school, and saw she wasn't outside. He
looked at the time and realized a few minutes had passed
by and she must not have thought to wait too long for him.
He walked down the sidestreet, towards home. He was
surprised to see, halfway there, Dezzy standing still
for a moment. He looked around, to make sure no trees
were coming down on her. They weren't. He walked up
beside her. "Hey Dezzy. What's up?" He asked her.
"Oh, hey oppa. Nothing. Just thinking." She said.
"Oh, mind if I join you?" He said and stood still for
a moment, beside her. Dezzy laughed. "Oppa." She said.
Taemin smiled. Then they walked down the street to
their houses. "Man, I feel bad." He said as they
walked. "Why?" She asked him. "SoHee was really upset
that I didn't want to walk with her after school."
He explained. "Oh. Why didn't you want to walk with
her?" She asked. "I always walk with you right?" He
said with a smile. "Yeah." She said. "And I rejected
from going out with her too." He admitted, sighing.
"Why? SoHee unni doesn't seem so bad." Dezzy said.
"She's not nice dongseng. She spilled that hot cocoa on
purpose on you. I was really upset about that." He
said seriously. "Oh. Really?" Dezzy said, surprised.
Taemin nodded. "But wait, what do I have to do with any
of this?" Dezzy asked him. Taemin smiled at her.
"Dongseng, if I didn't like you, like I do, then I
would've taken a chance on SoHee." He admitted.
"Oh. I see. Wait..you like me?!" Dezzy said, becoming
wide-eyed. Taemin nodded. "Oh." Was all she could
manage to say, still surprised. Taemin smiled warmly
down at her, and took her gloved hand in his. "Dezzy,
will you be my girlfriend?" He asked her. Dezzy's mouth
hung open slightly. "I..yes oppa." She said, and smiled.
He smiled warmly at her, his eyes getting smaller. And
gave her a quick peck on the lips, much to her surprise.
She blushed slightly as they broke apart, then they walked
down, the sidewalk, hand in hand, braving the snow
together.
