Chapter 43

wonbin-JaeHwa winter

"WON BIN OPPA PLEASE ACCEPT MY GIFT!!!" A young girl,

cried to WonBin, extended a gift to him, as she stopped

him in the middle of the hallway. WonBin smirked, and

said. "Sorry, but you can go find someone else. Course

he won't be as hot as me, but I can't accept it." He

said. The girl looked crushed and her eyes, watered

running off. "That was harsh hyung." Minhwan said to him,

as he, along with Jonghun, Hongki and JaeJin walked down

the hallways of the school. "What do you expect

it's WonBin we're talking about here." Hongki said.

WonBin shrugged. He and his friends knew that he was

like that, and they knew why he never really

accepted any girl before. They rounded the corner,

when he spotted JaeHwa at her locker. She was wearing

skinny jeans, and boots, and a long white knit coat,

her brown hair, grazing at her shoulders. She was putting

things in her locker, when WonBin walked up, leaning

against the next locker. "Hey JaeHwa." He said, trying

to be suave. Every other girl would swoon, but JaeHwa

remained devoid of expression. "WonBin shi." She said

formally. SHe finished putting her things away and shut

her locker. "Go out with me." He said bluntly.

JaeHwa looked at him, and smirked. "And why should I?"

She said. The rest of the guys, who were waiting for

him, towards one end of the hallway, jaws dropped

at her response. WonBin was taken aback, but quickly

regained his composure. "Because I think we'd make a really

hot couple." He said, flirtaciously. She didn't miss a

beat. "Oh, I know I am. But I'm not sure about the both

of us." She said skeptically. The other guys jaws dropped

again. "You really don't give a guy much of a chance

do you?" He said with a slight smile. "And you don't

give girls much of a chance either. So why target me?"

She said. "I don't know. Cause your different?" He

said. "Different." She said, thinking over his words.

"Yeah. You're not like other girls." He said.

"I know. I'm not. And I'm not falling for your little

tricks either WonBin shi. Save it for some other

girl who's too naive to see she's being played." JaeHwa

said, firmly and walked off, leaving him there in

shock. His friends came up to him. "Woah man." Jonghun

said. "JaeHwa really got you there hyung." Minhwan

added. "No. No. I'm not giving up that easily." He

said. The other guys looked at him, wondering his

plans.

Later on that day, JaeHwa was spacing out in her

Algebra II class again, as her teacher was going over

logarithms. Her head bobbed forward a few times, until

she landed face down on her desk, sleeping soundly. Until

her teacher tapped the ruler on her desk, loudly.

"Miss Lim! Pay attention!" Ms. Moon scolded her.

JaeHwa sat up, groggily. "Choesong hamnida seonsangnim."

She said. WonBin spoke up. "It's not her fault, my

voice makes everyone fall asleep." He said. "Mr. Oh,

you are close to getting a detention as well for your

smart aleck ways as well. Both of you. Pay attention!"

Ms. Moon said to them firmly as she walked back up to

the front of the classroom. "Neh." They said to their

teacher. "yah. what was that? I was falling asleep

because of your voice?" JaeHwa retorted, whispering

to him, two seats across from her, to her left.

"What? I was trying to help." He said, shrugging.

"Yeah right." JaeHwa said. "Fine. Don't believe me."

He said and she just turned back to face the front of

the classroom, listening to the lecture again, still

feeling tired.

JaeHwa was walking down the hallway, going home for

the day, when she was stopped by WonBin again. "What?"

She asked him, sighing. He tossed something to her

and she caught it. "A crunch bar?" She asked him,

looking at the mini candy bar in her hand.

"The vending machine spit out two." He said.

"Really now? But why a crunch bar?" She asked him,

wondering if he knew somehow what kind of chocolate

she likes. He shrugged. "They're my favorite." He

said. She looked at him in disbelief. "What? You too?"

He asked her. She nodded. "See? Second reason why we

should go out. We have things in common." He pointed out.

JaeHwa scoffed. "One thing WonBin shi. Just one thing.

I'm going home. Thanks for the chocolate." She said,

and pushed through the double doors of their highschool,

leaving him there.

JaeHwa went home, did her homework, while listening

to some upbeat music, to help her stay awake. Then

took a shower, ate dinner, brushed her teeth, washed her

face and went to bed.

The following morning she woke up and looked at the time.

"OMO. Not again. 7:30AM?" She mumbled groggily and got

up out of bed, but still felt lazy and dressed, ate

a quick breakfast, and changed, then went downstairs,

and walked to school, just walked and not ran.

When she arrived it was 8:00. She missed half of her

first period, and got a late slip from the office.

"Ms. Lim again?" Mr. Han scolded her. "I'm sorry,

seonsengnim." She said, bowing, then went and took her

seat at her, desk, still tired.

WonBin saw her walking down the hallway, and he could

tell she looked really tired. She walked past him, without

even acknowleding him as she trudged on, bleary eyes.

He wondered why she was always tired, even when she

probably got enough sleep. He followed a few feet behind

her as she left school. In her daze, JaeHwa had forgotten

her coat in her 6th period class. She shivered a little

as she was walking home. The snow was falling and it

was beginning to land on her hair, and shoulders, she

rubbed it off, shivering more, and continued her way

home. "JaeHwa. You really shouldn't walk in the cold like

this." A male voice said behind her. She felt a warm cloth

being draped over her shoulders and realized it was his

jacket. JaeHwa turned around. "Oh, WonBin shi, what are

you doing here?" She asked her. "You look really spaced

out. Thought you might need someone to check on you."

He said. "I don't need anyone to check up on me thank you."

She said curtly, and handed him his jacket again, as she

trudged on home. He walked up to her again, putting the

jacket back on her again. She tried to shrug it off again,

but when she did this, he wrapped his arms around suddenly,

to keep his jacket on her. "What are you doing?" She

asked him, surprised and her heart was beating rapidly.

"Making sure you don't get cold." he said firmly.

"I don't need your help okay? I don't need anyone's

help. So don't have pity for me." She said, trying to

shrug him off, but he wouldn't budge. "JaeHwa. It's

okay. everyone needs help once in awhile. Let me walk you

home." He said sincerely. JaeHwa stood there, unable to

say anything more. She just nodded, he let go of her,

and she kept the jacket on, until they reached her

house. When they got to the front door, she started to

remove it, giving it back to him, but he stopped her.

"You can give it back to me tomrorrow." He said.

"Okay. Thanks." She said, somewhat kindly. He smiled

slightly, nodding and said goodbye walking off to go

home. JaeHwa went inside her house, feeling a warmth

come over her.

The following day, she gave him back his jacket

as inconspicuously as possible. "Thanks." She mumbled

to him, as they stood in front of the lockers, and she

walked off. WonBin chuckled at this as she left.

"Hyung, lending her your jacket? Smooth." JaeJin said.

WonBin nodded, still looking in the direction that she

turned the corner. "Hyung? Hyung?" Minhwan called waving

a hand in his face. No response. "He's lost it." HOngki

said. The rest nodded and went off to their classes.

After school again, JaeHwa was walking home when

she was really feeling tired. She was so tired and out of

it, she decided to lay down on a snow pile, just a few

blocks from school. She curled up into a sleeping positon.

WonBin was walking home, when he saw someone laying on

the snow. "Who would be crazy enough to do that?" He

wondered. Then he saw a snow plower truck coming, and

it beeped, but the person on the ground, seemed to not

hear it. WonBin worried for the person, and went over and

pulled them out of the way at the last second, the

truck missing them by merely inches. He realized it

was JaeHwa. She was cold, and snow was in her hair. He

gently removed the snow from her hair. She opened her

eyes, faintly blinking. "WonBin shi?" She said, then

closed her eyes again. She was very cold, and he

was worried, so he picked her up, and carried her to his

house, since his was closer. He placed her on the living

room couch, putting blankets over her, and turned on

the heater. He then made some hot cocoa, and brought it

back into the living room. By the time he got back,

she was starting to return to normal temperature and

was starting to sit up on the ouch, and she blinked

around confused. "WonBin shi? What am I doing here?"

She asked him, as he handed her a cup of hot cocoa.

"You fell asleep at the snow pile near school, and

you got very cold, so I brought you here." He said.

"Oh, thanks." She said, drinking some of the hot

drink, feeling her body warm up again. "Are you okay

now?" He asked her. "Yeah, but.." She said hesitantly.

"What? Are you still cold?" He asked her, starting to

get up to get another blanket. "No. No. It's just

well. My mouth is cold." She said sheepishly.

"Oh. I can help you with that. He said, and pressed his

warm lips against her slightly cold lips. JaeHwa's eyes

widened, but she closed her eyes, feeling his lips warm

her own. After a few seconds they broke apart. "I...I"

She stuttered. WonBIn chuckled. "Give me a chance?" He

asked her. She nodded and he hugged her warmly as the

snow fell down, outside of the house, as they stayed

warm inside.
