on one shoulder, a bag of supplies for her school project
in the other. It was a little heavy, but she thought
it wasn't that big of a deal and she'd get throught it.
She passed through the entrance door, when one of her
guy friends, whom she was secretly crushing on, saw
her, and helped her with the bag she was carrying.
"Oppa. It's fine. I can carry it." She said to Yunho.
"No. Let me." He said. "No really I can handle it."
She said. "Dongseng, you're really stubborn sometimes.
Just let me carry it. Please." He said. "Fine." SHe
said reluctantly. Yunho smiled at winning the argument.
JiHye just rolled her eyes at this. They reached her class
and she thanked him, and he handed the bag back to her,
and they waved goodbye, until they would meet again
later.
Soon the school day had passed by, and it was time to
go home. Yunho offered her a ride home. Jihye agreed.
As they drove, JiHye's stomach grumbled, slightly.
Yunho turned to look at her, she smiled sheepishly,
embarrased. "Are you hungry?" He asked. "No. I'm okay."
She said. "Don't lie, let's go eat ramen." He said and
turned the car around. She nodded.
They stopped at ramen shop. "Hello. Welcome to
Ramen House." A cheerful woman said, she seated
JiHye and Yunho at a table near the window. A waitress
took their order JiHye ordered the ramen with mandu
(dumpling) and Yunho ordered the beef ramen.
"So, how were your classes?" He asked her.
"Okay. Except Mr. Ahn kept saying, Miss Park, if you
fall asleep again in my class you're going to the
principal's office." She told him. "You fell asleep
in his class? Why were you so tired?" he asked.
JiHye thought for a moment, and didn't want to admit
she'd been up, working on a special gift for his birthday.
He waited. "I was..reading." She said. "Reading?..."
he asked. "Reading, Twilight." She said. "Oh." he
said. Soon their food came, they blow on the noodles
a little then ate. "You want some of mine?" He asked.
"It's okay." She said. "Are you sure?" He asked.
She nodded. "I know you want some. Say ahh." He
said, holding out his chopsticks with some of his
ramen towards her. JiHye became slightly embarassed.
"You can just hand me the chopsticks oppa." She said.
"Just say ahh." He said again. JiHye hesitated, but
opened her mouth slightly, and he fed her some of the
noodles, she chewed slowly and swallowed. "Good?"
he asked. She nodded. Soon they finished their ramen,
and JiHye started to look through her bag for her
wallet. "It's okay. It's on me," He said. "no. oppa.
you don't have to really." She said. "It's fine. You
don't oew me or anything." He said. "Well, okay, I guess.
Just this once." She said and he nodded. He paid the bill
and the restaurant owner, thanked them and Yunho drove
her back to her house. She thanked him, and they said
goodbye. After JiHye finished her homework, she got
a call from her friend, Seohyun. "Yeoboseyo?" She
answered. "Oh, neh. Seohyun. What? Really? Who?
Hmm. He described her as pretty, and he never really
showed her how he felt. Oh. I see. I have to go, bye."
JiHye said and hung up. She was a pretty optimistic
person, but the thought of Yunho liking someone else
was killing her. She put on her coat, took her skates,
and went to the nearby ice pond. She laced up her skates,
and skated around the pond a few times, slowly, numbly.
"Is it Hye Bin unnie?" She thought, somewhat sadly.
After awhile, she heard someone skate behind her,
towards her, she turned to look, and saw Yunho. He
skated up next to her. "I thought you'd be here." He
said. "Hey oppa." She said, and skated ahead of him.
He csught up with her. "What's wrong?" he asked her.
She started to skate faster ahead again, but he
caught up with her again. She thought she had to ask.
"Do you like HyeBin unnie?" She asked him as she skated.
"What?" He asked her. "There's been rumor going around
saying you like someone who's pretty and never showed
her how you felt before." She explained. "And you
think it's HyeBin?" He asked. She shrugged, looking
down, and skated along again. Yunho stopped her,
grabbing her by the shoulders, gently, turning her to
face him. "You really think it's HyeBin?" He asked her.
JiHye nodded slowly. "You have no idea how beautiful
you are." He said. JiHye's eyes widened
at this. "What?" She said, his hands still on her
shoulders, as they both balanced on their skates.
"It's you. Not HyeBin." He said seriously.
"Uh, what?" She said again. "Geudaeman. (only you)"
he said. "Oh." She said, not sure what to say.
"So..?" He said. "Nado jo ah hae." She replied, softly.
He smiled and she smiled back, and he leaned in
and JiHye closed her eyes as his lips met hers, softly.
