Chapter 17

Till Now, It's Still You-random one shot

"Soon Ae, your guests are here." Mrs. Yi called

to her daughter, as the bell rang. "Neh omma." Soon Ae

said, as she came out from her room, closing the door

behind her. She walked down the long hallway of their

spacious home, and to her right, as the door was opened

and a group of her friends stood there, smiling, dressed

in their best gowns and suits. "Happy Birthday Soon Ae!"

They said happily, she smiled back, thanking them,

and invited them inside. "Wah unni. You look so pretty."

Her friend ShinBi complimented her on her flowy,

glittering light pink gown. "Thanks dongseng, you look

very pretty also." Soon Ae told her, and ShinBi thanked

her. She and her group of friends who had arrived

early, walked out to the backyard patio, where

harpists were playing and she invited them to start

eating. They went over to the buffet table and

ate quiche, cocktail meatballs, and dipped strawberries

into the foundue fountain, and drank punch from

the punch fountain. They all talked, mingling, and

walked around, admiring the clear water of the pool,

as lights reflected from it. The doorbell rang, and

Soon Ae excused herself, as she greeted more of her

guests. They all greeted her happy birthday and

she placed the gifts they had given her on the

table for the gifts, and walked out onto the backyard

patio with them, as they all talked, mingled and

danced. Soon the party was coming to a close.

One of the servers came out, pushing a small table

cart with her birthday cake on it, a three tiered

white chocolate rasberry truffle cheesecake, with

eighteen candles on the top. Everyone started to sing.

"Sangil chuka hamnida, Sangil Chuka hamnida. Sarang

haneun, Yi Soon Ae, sangil chuka hamnida." They sang

and she blew out the candles, as everyone clapped. Then

they cut the cake and she served her guests as she

ate some as well. After the last person had left,

she closed the door, and cleaned up, helping the

servers. Soon it was almost midnight, as the last of

the leftover cups and plates were thrown away. But

Soon Ae, still stood outside on the patio, slightly

chilly in the night air. Her mom called to her.

"Soon Ae dear, you should come inside now." She told

her. "Neh omma. Just a few more minutes. I'l be right

in." Soon Ae told her. Her mom nodded and went back

inside the house. She stood outside, with her arms

wrapped around herself, staring out at the dark sky,

feeling slightly dissapointed that a very close friend

of hers couldn't make it. "He said he would be here."

She said to herself, softly. "But I am here." A male

voice said behind her. Soon Ae turned around, surprised.

"Kyung Jae oppa." She said, surprised. Her best guy

friend stood there, in a suit, holding a red carnation.

He handed it to her. "Happy Birthday Soon Ae." He

said with a smile. "Komawo oppa." She said, smiling

back, and embracing her friend warmly. Then she pulled

away from him, whacking him on the arm lightly.

"Why are you so late?" She asked him. He rubbed his

arm. "Ow. You still hit like a guy." He said. She

pouted at this. "Oppa." She said, whining slightly

wanting to know. "What? Oh yeah. I wanted to tell you

something, in private." He told her. She raised an

eyebrow at this. "What is it?" She asked him. He leaned

on the glass railing, that was surrounding her

backyard, which overlooked the city. Then he glanced

back at her. "Well, first of, how are you? Are you

seeing anyone?" He asked her. She raised an eyebrow

again. "No. ShinBi and Yuli are though." She said.

"Oh, so you don't like anyone at your school?" He

asked her. She shook her head, wondering where this

was going. "But you do like someone?" He asked her.

She hesitated. "Y-Yeh. Weh oppa?" She asked him.

He exhaled looking out at the city, then glancing back

at her again. "Soon Ae, I like you." He said, much to

her surprise. He went on. "I know, maybe I never

really showed it, and I'm sorry. Maybe I should have

been more obvious. But I really like you. Ever since

eight grade, till now, that we're seniors and

graduating, I still like you. And I really don't know

if you feel the same way, since you've been nice to me,

but it seems like you're nice to almost everyone. But

I just wanted to let you know that." He said.

She was shocked. "Oppa, I..I like you too. Ever since

8th grade, till now, it's still you. That's why I

haven't dated anyone these past four years almost."

She explained, a huge burdend being lifted off of her,

as she finally admitted her feelings. He glanced

at her, then took off his jacket, as he just wore

his white dress shirt, and tie, draping it over her,

seeing that she was cold. He pulled her close to him,

leaning in, his face inching closer to hers. She

inhaled sharply, and closed her eyes, until his lips

met her own, softly. After a few seconds they broke apart

smiling. She stood in front of him as they stood near

the glass railings, his arms around her, with his jacket

still around her, as they looked out at the city,

its lights shining brightly.
