The reason she didn't agree to go out with YooChun and
the rest of the group, didn't even have anything to do
with having early classes the following day. She was
the kind of girl that fell in love very easily, but
never the one to really pursue love. She went into
her room, and laid down on her bed. Many things were
going through her mind. "He wanted to talk with me
again. Is he interested in me?" She wondered.
There were so many things to think about. She wasn't
really sure if she could open up to him. And if things
went well, was she strong enough to deal with some of
the Cassieopia's who were a little crazy? She shook
her head. "Wait a minute. I'm getting ahead of myself."
She thought to herself. She got up from her bed, and
went into the living room. She sat down at the piano,
and played a few finger exercises, then just started
to play for awhile. Surprisingly she ended up playing
DBSK's "Love in the Ice." She sang along for awhile,
feeling a bit sad about her insecurities, then she
closed the piano when she was done, and went back
to her room. She went into her bathroom, brushing her
teeth, and washing her face, changing into her sleeping
clothes. Then she went back into her bedroom, and slipped
under her bedcovers, drifting off to sleep.
The following morning, she woke up to the sound of
people mowing her lawn. She groaned a little, still
slightly groggy, although it was almost nine in the
morning. She sat up in her bed, stretching, then
went into the kitchen, where her mom was making breakfast.
Mrs. Kang smiled at her daughter warmly. "Hi honey.
Your appa and I came in late from another of his firm's
business parties." She explained. Yeoreum nodded.
And sat at the small round table in the kitchen, as her
mom was making french toast, eggs, and bacon.
"Are you hungry?" Her mom asked her. Yeoreum nodded,
and her mom gave her a plate of french toast, eggs,
and one slice of bacon. "Thanks omma." Yeoreum said
with a smile. Her mom nodded. Then Yeoreum got up from
the table and filled a glass of orange juice for herself,
then sat back down eating her breakfast. After she
finished she went to the sink and cleaned up her plate
and glass. "Bye omma, I'm going to class now." She said.
Her mom smiled. "Okay. Be safe." Her mom said. Yeoreum
nodded, grabbing her bag, and driving over to Dong Gook
University. She was passing through the school
hallways, when she recognized one of the girls from
yesterdays concert. The girl stopped and gave Yeoreum
a small smile, as people walking down the hallways
gasped slightly. Yeoreum looked confused, at the
people's reactions, but shrugged it off. "Hey, SoonYi
right?" Yeoreum asked her. SoonYi nodded. "I thought you
looked familiar from yesterday. So we go to the same
University?" Yeoreum asked her. SoonYi nodded. By this
time, SoonYi had been dating ChangMin for about a year,
and had graduated from her highschool, and was accepted
into Dong Gook University. She was slightly sad that
she didn't get accepted into KyungHee where ChangMin
was, but they at least had classes around the same time
so they could spend more time together after classes.
"I know I just met you, but do you think I could
ask you something?" Yeoreum asked her. SoonYi looked
surprised, but nodded. "Sure, but can we talk somewhere
else after class?" SoonYi asked her. Yeoreum nodded.
"Do you have free fifth period?" Yeoreum asked her.
SoonYi nodded. "I'll meet you at the cafe near the
Science building?" SoonYi told her. Yeoreum nodded and
they said goodbye, and went to their classes.
When Yeoreum's fifth free period came along, she
walked over to the cafe near the science building where
SoonYi was already seated an outdoor table, with an
umbrella overhead. Yeoreum walked over and sat down in
the empty seat, and ordered an ice tea. SoonYi was drinking
an ice mocha. "So, what did you want to ask me?" SoonYi
asked her. "Well, I was wondering if you could tell me
how you and ChangMin met." Yeoreum asked her, hoping
she wasn't prying too much. SoonYi smiled slightly.
"It's kind of funny actually. Last year, I was not
exactly student role model material. I was fighting with
people, my grades were dropping. And so the principal
from my high school at the time, told me I had to do
community service at KyungHee University where ChangMin
studied. And he stopped by the classroom where I was
cleaning one day, and offered to help. At first I was
totally against it, but then I relented because I needed
some help. I was there for about three months, and we
just started to click, and on my last day there, he
asked me to be his girlfriend." SoonYi said. "Wow."
Yeoreum said. "I know." SoonYi said. "Uh, if you don't
mind me asking, it's okay if you don't want to answer,
why did you have such a tough exterior at your old
school?" Yeoreum asked. SoonYi sighed. "It was really
mostly with guys that I got into arguments with. When
I was a freshman at that high school, just starting out
I was almost raped by a popular senior guy. But I was
fortunate that I was able to get away. And from then on
I took self-defense lessons, kick boxing, I toughened up
my image, hhoping that I wouldn't be targeted by anyone
again. The first time I met ChangMin, I thought he
was the same kind of guy in a way, that his gentleman
demeanor was just an act. But the more I got to know him,
I realized he wasn't just some guy who was trying to
get into my pants." SoonYi explained. "Oh. I'm sorry
to hear about that almost rape. But that's really
amazing how you guys got together." Yeoreum said.
"Yeah. Why do you ask anyway?" SoonYi said curious.
Yeoreum smiled sheepishly. "Oh, well I just um.."
She started to say. "You're wondering about YooChun huh?
Well, he's a really nice guy if you get to know him."
SoonYi said. "Oh. Well, I'm just not really sure."
Yeoreum said. SoonYi gave her a small smile. "I think
he has taken an interest in you. AFter you left yesterday,
he seemed a little bit down, when we went out to eat. You
don't have to listen to me. I'm just saying. If you're
asking me all this, you must be curious about him too
right?" SoonYi said. Yeoreum nodded slowly. "Well then,
the guys and ChoRi unni, and SooIn and I are going to
Buca De Bepo later. If you want to go, I'm sure
YooChun wouldn't mind. Here's the address." SoonYi said,
scrawling it on a small scratch paper, and handing it
to her. "Thanks." Yeoreum said, taking it from her.
SoonYi nodded and they both got up from the table,
their free period almost over, and said goodbye, going
to their last class of the day.
Yeoreum drove home, glancing at the address SoonYi
had given her, unsure. She had written that they would
be there at 7PM. She went into her house, and said a quick
"hi" to her mom, and went into her room. She did her
take home quiz, and her Film Studies homework. Then
she sat at her desk, thinking for awhile. "Should I
go?" She thought. Then she thought. "I won't know,
unless I try." And she got up from her desk, going over
to her closet, trying to figure out what to wear. She
toned down her makeup a little, then just wore a dark
grey cable knit jacket, and dark wash skinny jeans.
Then she drove over to the restaurant. She hesitantly
entered, and saw YooChun, Yunho, Vanessa, SooIn, JaeJoong,
ChoRi, JunSu, ChangMin and SoonYi waiting at the long
waiting booth. SoonYi waved to her, motioning her over.
She smiled at everyone politely. And they didn't look
too surprised to see her. "I told them you might be
coming." SoonYi whispered. Yeoreum nodded. And walked
over to where YooChun sat politely bowing and he gestured
for her to sit down. "Hey." He said. "Hi." She said.
"Glad you could make it." He told her. She nodded.
"Yeah. Sorry about yesterday." She said. He nodded.
"It's okay." He said. They made small talk for awhile,
and soon the waitress called them to their table.
They sat down at the long table and the waitress took
their orders then left. "So, Yeoreum, what school
do you go to?" Yunho asked politely from across
the table. "DongGook University." She told him.
"Hey, that's where SoonYi goes." ChangMin said.
Yeoreum nodded. "I knew she looked familiar from school,
but we don't have any classes together. We just talked
this morning." Yeoreum explained. And the rest of
the group nodded. Soon their food came, and the
waitress set down piping hot plates of lasagna,
ravioli, fettucini, breadsticks and stuffed mushroom
and calamari, for their appetizer. They all ate
hungrily. Then a desert platter of tiramisu, chocolate
cake and creme brulee came and after they finished that
they were full. Yeoreum thanked SoonYi for inviting her
and to everyone else for welcoming her there, and they
all nodded back, and had enjoyed her ocmpany with them.
The group paid for the dinner and then left the
restaurant, standing outside in the parking lot for
a moment. "Hey Yeoreum, I was wondering if I could
have your number?" YooChun asked, hesitantly. Yeoreum
smiled slightly and gave him her number.
After that day, Yeoreum became better friends with
SoonYi and the other girls and was invited to go to
DBSK's rehearsals and dance practices more. One day,
she had skateboarded to the SM building, which some
really girly fan girls frowned upon, but she didn't
really care what they thought.
One day, she was skateboarding there, when she
saw YooChun waiting outside of the building for her.
He smiled and waved to her, and she waved back, she
wanted to see how fast she could go, but as she
was approaching him, the wheels on her skateboard hit
a bump and she went flying off of her skateboard, bumping
YooChun and falling on top of him, as he fell to the
ground. She looked down at him, wide eyed, and saw
that his eyes were closed. "Oppa? Oppa? Oppa!" She
said worriedly, slapping his face lightly to try to
wake him up. He opened his eyes, and smiled at her laughing
a little. They both sat up, and she punched him on
the arm. "Ow. I'm sorry. But you should've seen your
face." He told her. She glared at him. "Nappeun
saram." (bad person) She mumbled, still a little upset.
"I'm sorry." He said again, and hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry Yeoreum. Mianhae. Oppa is sorry." He said,
in an overly dramatic voice. She was surprised by his
embrace, and pulled back from him, just staring at him.
They were still seated at the sidewalk, but didn't seem
to care. He looked back at her for a moment, brushing
her bangs away from her face gently. She stopped breathing,
as he slowly leaned in towards her face, and she found
herself closing her eyes, as his lips pressed softly onto
her own. They broke apart, and she just stared at him,
wide eyed. He smiled. "Did you not like it?" He questioned.
She let out a laugh, and shook her head, teasing him.
He looked upset this time, but then glanced at her.
"Should we try again?" He asked her. "Oppa!" She said,
shaking her head. "I'm kidding. I know what you want
me to say. Kang Yeoreum, I like you. Will you be my
girlfriend?" He said with all sincerity and seriousness
this time. She smiled and nodded, and leaned in again,
as they kissed again.
