Heawon was hanging out with Minhwan, watching him play
the drums, as she sat at in a chair beside him in his
garage. She watched as he played with a smile on his
face, as he bobbed his head to the beat. She couldn't
help but smile at this. He finished his song, and gave
a bow, and she laughed, clapping. "Thank you." He said,
smiling. She nodded. "Do you know how to play?" He
asked her. She shook her head. He got up from his
seat and told her to sit down. She shrugged and sat down
where he once sat and he stood beside her, handing her
his drumsticks. She looked up at him. "Now what?" She
asked. He smiled and she felt a rush of heat to her
face when he placed both of his hands, over hers.
"Tap this drum over here twice, then the this drum once
after it like this." He said, showing her how to play.
He went through it a few times, moving her hands to go
along with the beat he was tryint to teach her, then
he slowly let go, and she was playing on her own.
"Like this" She said, unsure and he nodded smiling.
She stopped playing and when she turned to look up
at him, it was as if her breathing had stopped. His
face was merely inches away from her own, and her heart
started to beat rapidly, as they both looked at each other.
"MINHWAN TIME FOR DINNER!" Mrs. Choi called from the
top of the stairs, leading from the kitchen to the garage.
They both blinked, and snapped out of it. She stood
up from the chair, and he cleared his throat.
"Wanna stay for dinner? We're having chicken." He
asked her. She laughed nodding and followed him up
the stairs. "Heawon, are you joining us for dinner?"
Mrs. Choi asked with a smile. She nodded, smiling back
as she, and Minhwan went into the dining room to sit
down at the table. They sat down as Mr. Choi came in
as well, happy to see Heawon. "Heawon nice of you to
join us." He said and sat down at the far end of
the dining table, opposite of where Mrs. Choi sat.
Then Minhwan's younger brother, Inhwan, came running into
the dining room. "Nuna!" He said happily, going over to
Heawon's side. She smiled and hugged the little boy and
he scurried over to the left side of the table and sat
down next to his mom. Then they all started passing around
the mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuits, and the chicken.
Heawon made polite conversation with Minhwan's parents,
and happily talked to his little brother as well, whenever
he would have something to say or show her.
Later on that day, she talked with her friend
Grace, at her house about the whole thing.
"But, do you think he knows? What if he knows?!"
Heawon said, panicking, as she paced back and forth
across the hardwood floor of her friend, Grace's room.
Grace lay on her stomach, on her twin bed, as she watched
her friend pacing. "Heawon, stop pacing you'll wear
a hole in the floor. And stop worry about if Minhwan
knows or not. He could like you too." Grace said, matter
of factly. Heawon looked uncertain. "Oh, I don't know."
She said doubtfull, and plopped down in her friend's
cushioned chair in front of her desk. "Aigoo. Don't get
yourself so worked up." Grace told her. Heawon just
sighed. "Look, you're probably the only girl he's asked
to stay over for dinner. He must like you." She pointed
out. "Or I'm the only girl friend, and not girlfriend
he asks." Heawon said. "Aish. I give up." Grace said,
plopping her face down on her bed, in exasperation.
The following day, she and Grace were walking
down the hallways of their highschool, still talking
about past events. "Would you just forget about it?
If you're really thinking too much about it, just
say, "Minhwan oppa, do you like me?" Grace said simply.
Heawon's eyes widened. "Ani. I can't." She said, shaking
her head. Grace shrugged. "Okay then. It's your loss."
She said and they continued walking down the hallway.
Later on that day, Heawon was listening to her
teacher go on and on, about the plenets, and the end of
the world, but it was really depressing her. So she
raised her hand and asked to go the bathroom. Her teacher
nodded, and she got up from her seat, walking out of
the classroom, down the hallway. She saw a few other people
pass by through the other hallways, but then all of
a sudden it seemed empty, until she saw Minhwan coming
from the opposite hallway in front of her. She was
surprised to see him, but gave him a small smile and
continued to walk almost reaching the corner, when
he called to her. "Heawon ah." He said, and she stopped
walking. "Deh oppa?" She said as he walked towards her.

He stepped closer and closer, and then suddenly leaned
down, pressing his lips onto her own lightly, then
quickly pulled back. Her eyes widened, and she
was completely immobile from shock. Then just as she
was managing to regain her senses, he wrapped his arms
around her, pulling her closely towards him. As he
held her closely, she could feel his heart beating
rapidly. Or maybe that was her own heart. She wasn't
really sure. "O-oppa." She said, surprised. "I do know."
He said to her. "Huh?" She said confused. "That you like
me. I overheard you and Grace in the hallway earlier.
I like you too." He told her. She smiled as she rested
her chin on his shoulder as he continued to hug her,
feeling really happy that he felt the same way.
