Chapter 48

Words Get Hard to Say-Hankyung&Eeseul

"Uh. Where do I put my bag?" Eeseul wondered

aloud, as she looked around her University's large

auditorium. People were filling in the many rows of

seats from the highest, all the way to the lowest.

And then she spotted many bags, at the very lowest

part of the auditorium. She excused herself around

people, as she sidestepped, and even jumped down

a few levels, much to others' amusement. She was

about halfway down, and decided to carelessly drop

her bag at an unoccupied step. Just when she had placed it

down, she was surprised to see Hankyung walking in from

the right side, and he picked up her bag, gave her

a small smile, and walked down the steps to where

the other bags were, and placed it there. She

was surprised. "Thanks oppa!" She called down. He

nodded and went to find his seat. LiYin was just

arriving for the lecture, and had seen the whole thing.

She went over to Eeseul, who was still standing in

the same spot and said. "So, dongseng, what do you

think of Hankyung oppa?" She asked with a smile.

Eeseul was slightly taken aback. "Hmm? Oh um. He's

nice, handsome.." She trailed off, slightly embarrassed.

LiYin smiled at her kindly, and decided to tease her

a bit. She said loudly. "OMO Eeseul ah you think.. mmph."

LiYin started to say, before Eeseul clamped a hand over

her friend's mouth. "Unni no! Please." She begged

her friend. LiYin nodded and Eeseul let go.

"I was only teasing. Come on. Let's go find seats."

She said, and Eeseul followed her to sit down at a row

where a few seats were available. They sat down and

their professor started their lecture at the bottom

of the auditorium, with the projector on, displaying

a powerpoint on the long projector sheet.

In the dimly lit room, she couldn't help but glance

at Hankyung who was two rows in front of her. He was

intelligent, and modest, and very kind. LiYin elbowed

Eeseul in the side lightly, smirking. "It's not what

you think Unni." Eeseul whispered to her. "Okay."

LiYin said with a smile. Eeseul sighed and went back

to paying attention to their professor.

After their almost tow hour lecture was over,

everyone got up from their seats, and started walking

down to the bottom of the auditorium. When she got

there, Hankyung was already there and handed her, her

bag. "Thanks oppa." She said. He smiled, nodding.

"I was wondering if you needed a ride back to the

dorms today." He asked her. She smiled. "Oh, LiYin

unni is dropping me off today." She told him.

"Oh, dongseng, you know what, I forgot that I have

to go to..a dentist appointment today. Sorry." LiYin

said. Eeseul looked at her confused, and LiYin gave

a small wink, which fortunately, Hankyung did not see.

"Oh, okay." Eeseul said. "So, I'll give you a ride?"

Hankyung asked. Eeseul nodded and walked with him out

of the auditorium, but turned around, and glared at

LiYin slightly, who just smiled, and mouthed. "You'll

thank me later." Eeseul turned back around, and

left the auditorium, going to the University's parking

lot. She went inside the right passenger side, while

Hankyung took the driver's seat of his white compact

Acura. He started the engine and pulled out of the

parking lot. Eeseul was unsure of what to say.

Well, she did have some idea of what to say, but she

didn't really think now would be the right time.

"So, oppa. Any plans for the weekened?" She asked.

Hankyung smiled. "Why? Are you seeing if I'm free?"

He joked. She blushed slightly. "A-Anio. I was just

wondering," She said sheepishly. He laughed. "I was

joking." He said. "Oh." She said, embarrassed.

"I'm going to Siwon's party. How about you?" He asked.

"Oh yeah, I'm going too. Not sure what time though."

She said. He nodded. "I'm not sure when I'm going

also. Want me to pick you up?" He offered. She was

surprised, but nodded. "Okay." She said. "How about

at six?" He suggested. She nodded, and noticed they

had just pulled up at the dormitory parking lot.

"Sure. I'll see you then." She told him. He smiled

and waved goodbye. She smiled back, getting out of the

car. "Thanks again for the ride oppa!" She called and

walked to the dormitory.

The following afternoon, Eeseul got ready to

go to Siwon's party. She wore her usual skinny jeans

and her sneakers, and a gray hoodie. But she applied

a little bit of mascara and curled her eyelashes,

applying a berry hued moisturizing lip balm. Then she

just left her hair down, letting it graze across her

shoulders. She left her dorm room shortly after,

and walked up to Hankyung's car, getting into the right

passenger seat. KiBum and Grace were sitting at the back

and she said "hi" to them. "Hey. Is Hankyung oppa

your driver?" She joked. "Hey." Hankyung said. The

two nodded, smiling. The four chatted amiably, on the

drive over to the Choi residence. The house was enormous,

with a large front foyer, and potted plants, and two

white columns supporting the entrance, with a large

door knocker, in the shape of a lion. The door was open

and a butler greeted them as they went inside, with

music blasting, and they saw people dancing and talking

with the beats of Minwoo's "M" played in the background.

They walked around, and saw Siwon's brother, Minho

and his girlfriend MiYoung come around from the

kitchen. They greeted them. "Hey dongseng, is your

brother around?" Hankyung asked him. Minho smiled,

holding onto MiYoung's hand. "Yeah. He's in the

pool room, playing billiards with DongHae hyung and

Heechul hyung. "Oh. Thanks." Hankyung said, Minho nodded

and walked around the house, while MiYoung waved to

Grace and Eeseul. The group of four walked into

the pool room, and saw Siwon, getting ready to hit

one of the billiard balls. He saw them and smiled.

"Hey." He said and they all greeted him back. Donghae

was with EunChin and Heechul was with HyoSun. They

greeted the group. Eeseul took a seat, and felt a little

off, with her and Hankyung being the only one without

dates. But she politely watched the game. After an hour,

she excused herself for a moment, and went to go sit

outside in the large backyard. She sat down on the step,

that led out to the deck, that led down to the pool

and jacuzzi. After about a minute, she heard the

sliding door open behind her, and someone sit down

beside her. It was Hankyung. "Hi oppa." She said.

"Is something wrong?" He asked. She shook her head.

Then sighed. "Well, it's just. Uh, I noticed that you and

I were the only ones in there, without dates, and that

made me feel a little bit, off you know?" She said. He

nodded. "And why do you think that is?" He asked, starting

to sound like a therapist. "Huh?" She said, confused

as she glanced at him. He smiled. "I mean, why do you

think that we're the only ones without dates?" He asked

her. She shrugged. "I don't know. I mean I know you

could probably find someone, as for me, I kind od doubt.."

She trailed off, as he leaned in towards her, pressing

his lips against her own. Her eyes widened, but then she

closed them, feeling a rush of warmth, surge through her.

He pulled back. "Oppa." She said, still somewhat

speechless. "I don't know why you think you're not

good enough to be with someone Eeseul ah. Because you've

managed to get my attention." He told her. She looked

at him, surprised. "Well, I do like you." She admitted

sheepishly. He smiled. "Why didn't you tell me?" He

joked. She shrugged. "I don't know. Sometimes words

get hard to say?" She said. He nodded, smiling and

laced his hand through hers. "Let's go back in then."

He told her. She smiled nodding, feeling whole, as

they got up and went back inside the house.
