Xiao You was sitting on one of the benches, watching Ximen and Kevin play tennis when she heard her name being called by Kevin. “Hey Xiao You, would you mind if you replace me for a while. I’m tired.”
“I haven’t practiced for a long while. So I’m afraid I cannot join him.” She replied.
“No, you go. It won’t hurt if you try.” He assured her as he got a hold of her hand and pushed her to the court.
Ximen was observing Kevin and Xiao You while they were talking, he wanted to know what Kevin was telling her but he got the answer when Xiao You stood up from her seat and approached the court. “Stupid guy, he’s making it easy for me to talk with her. Just my luck!” he thought happily.
Since the night he accidentally kissed her, uneasiness swept the two of them. Xiao You wasn’t mad at him but he was sure that she was avoiding him. He was so pissed to himself that night because of what happened, he wanted to say that he was sorry but how can he apologize to her when she was totally avoiding him and to think that his office was just beside hers. She was smart indeed to have avoided him under those circumstances.
“Are you ready?” Ximen asked.
She didn’t say anything but instead gave him a nod.
They played until both of them started to sweat, how he wanted to come up to her and personally wipe her sweat that was trickling down on her chest as they played. “Stop it Ximen! You’re really a pervert but that’s a thought.” He said to himself as they continued playing. He found out that Xiao You was a very good tennis player, she could easily block his throws and return it.
Xiao You on the other hand was enjoying the game but she avoided looking eye to eye with Ximen. She hasn’t forgiven him for the incident but she also knew that she was partly to blame. She hasn’t played that much over the years since she was busy with work and now, she found out how she missed playing this game.
They surely enjoyed playing without even talking. Ximen served the ball but when Xiao You was about to receive the ball, he heard her scream. “Ouch!”
Ximen was about to run towards her, but he saw Kevin now approaching her.
“Hey, what happened to you?” Kevin asked.
“I sprained my ankle.” She told him while massaging her ankle.
“Are you alright?”
“Not so...” She replied.
He carried her to the Country Club’s Clinic with much complains from Xiao You since she wanted to go down but he wouldn’t budge.
Ximen who was following both of them was already clenching his fist ready to punch him if he saw any wrong move from him. He was supposed to be doing that to her, he was his obligation after all since she was working with him in the company but Kevin beat him into it. How he wanted to push him aside when he came towards Xiao You but he couldn’t do so for they were in a middle of a big project so he just contained himself, for the moment.
The nurse placed a bandage on her sprained ankle and told them that it would be better for her to rest.
Kevin then carried her towards his car, Xiao You was still insisting that she could handle herself and would just call her chauffeur to pick her up. “I’ll bring you home.” He sternly replied and Xiao You just stopped protesting since she knew that she couldn’t do anything more to stop him.
Ximen was flushing because of anger. He didn’t know where was Kevin headed to and he had to make sure that he wouldn’t bring her somewhere else. So he followed their car to know were they would be going. He soon found out that he would bring Xiao You back to her penthouse. He quickly got down from his car and followed them, he didn’t care if he would just barge in but he needed to know if she was safe because he didn’t trusted that man who was now carrying her.
Kevin carried her and proceeded inside the penthouse. He laid her on her bed since she needed to get some rest, he then started massaging her ankle.
“Ouch! That hurts! Please be careful.” Xiao You pleaded as he watched him massaging her.
“Sorry.” He continued massaging her ankle.
Just then, Ximen entered her room, panting. “Xiao You...”
He found Kevin on his knees while Xiao You was sitting up on her bed, Kevin was now looking at him but still continued massaging her; Xiao You refused to look at him and just looked out to the window. How he wished that he didn’t saw that scene because it quickly triggered his anger that he knew that would blow up any minute now.
Kevin’s phone then started ringing so he shifted his gaze and stopped whatever he was doing and stood up to go outside. “Wei, Oh yeah! I almost forgot... Okay, okay... I’ll be there... Yes... Please tell them to wait for me... Okay, bye.” How Ximen wanted to jump for crying out loud, he was extremely happy and thanked all the stars for Kevin’s clients, but then he still wore a nonchalant façade and was just looking at Xiao You who just kept still.
“Xiao You, I’m sorry but I think I have to go now. I almost forgot that I have some clients waiting for me in my office. I wish I could stay but don’t worry, I promise I’ll visit you tomorrow.” Kevin said.
“It’s okay. Thank you Kevin.”
With that, he left her penthouse leaving Xiao You with Ximen.
Ximen was ecstatic that he had already left and so now he will be with Xiao You alone, or so he thought, because someone unexpected came.
“Shan Cai?”
“Xiao You, Hi, I wanted to pay you a visit. How are you? Oh, and why are you here Ximen? Xiao You who was that guy that I saw coming out from here?”
“Whoa, Shan Cai, hold your horses. You quite have a number of questions, you know. Okay, first, I’m fine but my ankle isn’t. Second, I don’t know why Ximen is here. The guy you saw earlier is Kevin; he brought me to the Country Club’s Clinic and here.” She answered.
“Why? What happened to you?”
“Ximen and I were playing tennis in the Country Club earlier, then I suddenly sprained my ankle.” She explained.
Shan Cai went around Ximen as if thinking of a suitable punishment for him. “It’s all your fault. You shouldn’t have let Xiao You played. Now look what happened to her!” She shouted straight into his ear while Ximen just closed his eyes and covered his right ear.
“You... You....” Shan Cai wasn’t able to complete her sentence for she heard her mobile phone ringing.
“Wei... Oh Dao Ming Si. I’m here at Xiao You’s.... What? You’re at home? Why? Oh... Okay... Yeah! Stop it you pighead! Yes... Yes... Bye.”
She then faced Ximen again, “Ha! Ximen! Good thing Dao Ming Si called! Or else you know what will happen to you.”
“Yeah! Thanks AhSi!” Ximen silently said. “No more shouting at me.” He added as he soothed his soon-to-be-deaf ear.
Shan Cai went towards Xiao You, “Xiao You, I’ll go ahead.”
“What? You just came and now you’re going?” Xiao You asked her.
“Yup, because that pighead called and he said that his at home. He wants me to come home too.” Shan Cai sighed, “So, I’ll see you again. Bye”
Before leaving, Shan Cai gave Ximen a deadly glare, which he just laughed at because he was already used to Shan Cai giving him that kind of glare and today wasn’t any different.
“Hands off Ximen!” Shan Cai said before she disappeared.
“Ximen, you may also go. I’m fine.” Xiao You said while reaching for the glass of water placed on top of the table but then she felt pain in her ankle again. “Ouch!”
He approached her and handed her the glass of water. “Thanks.” She replied.
Ximen then walked out of the living room not saying anything to Xiao You. She was wrong when she thought that Ximen already went off because not long after he went out, he again came back which confused Xiao You.
“I said I’m fine.” She assured him with a faint smile.
A butler then came in holding a steaming bowl of congee.
“Wow this guy is fast!” she thought as she wondered when he called his butler.
He sat next to her holding the bowl, “Here,” he said while lifting the spoon to her level.
She shook her head, “Ximen, I’m not a disabled, I only have a sprain.”
“Even though, I want you to eat or else I won’t eat also.”
“Fine, don’t eat. Besides I don’t care if you don’t.” She stubbornly replied as she folded her arms.
Ximen placed the bowl on top of the bedside table and rested his back on the bed frame. “Xiao You, I’m sorry.”
“About the other night, I’m really sorry...” he continued.
“Ximen, just forget about it okay.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Hey, I said forget about it right?”
Ximen nodded. “Then you’re going to eat already?” he told her with a smile hoping that she wouldn’t resist anymore.
“Alright.” She finally agreed swiftly getting the bowl on top of the bedside table. She noticed that he was just looking at her while she was eating. “Now don’t just watch there. Eat.” She ordered him.
He went out and when he came back, he was already holding a plate of dumplings armed with chopsticks on the other hand. He grabbed a chair and placed it beside her bed.
“Hey why do I get congee while you get dumplings?” Xiao You pitifully looked at her bowl then looked at what he was eating.
“’Coz you have a sprain and I don’t ” he teasingly said to her as he took a bite of the dumpling and savored chewing it, much to Xiao You’s envy.
“What’s the connection?” Xiao You irritably asked.
“Nothing.” Ximen happily replied as he shrugged his shoulders.
Xiao You then pouted her lips that made Ximen’s insides crazy. He, at last, gave up and fed her with dumplings.
“Wow! This is really good! Who made it?” Xiao You asked as she tasted the dumplings.
“If I told you, I would have a competition getting my dumplings and I wouldn’t like that.” He answered her.
“Come on, please.” She said batting her eyelashes as she placed down the bowl and started pulling his arms.
He then heaved a sigh. “My mother.”
“But how did you got that? Your were with us a while ago right?”
“Right! But I won’t tell.”
“Boy, you sure are lucky.” Xiao You commented him.
“Yes I am!” He proudly exclaimed.
