“Ms. Chien, what can I do for you? ” her secretary asked politely.
“Book me a flight to Taiwan tonight and fix the hotel accommodations.”
“How long would you be staying?”
“Just a day, I just need to fix something there.”
“Okay Ms. Chien. Would you like me to call the chauffeur to fetch you already?”
“Yes, please do.”
Minutes later, she went down to the lobby and immediately went to her car. On the way to her penthouse in 3rd street, she was glancing at the many changes this place has undergone that was very much like her and now she is coming to Taiwan, she didn’t know how this would turn out but she knew that there was no turning back now.
She went to her penthouse and started preparing the things she needed to bring. She didn’t do a lot of packing since she was just going there for a day. She took out a picture of her best friend there and as she looked at it, tears fell down on her face, she missed her so much, and there were too many things that they had missed on each other’s lives. Even though she had many friends here, they couldn’t compare to the bond she and her best friend had shared.

Taiwan International Airport
At four in the morning, she set foot in Taiwan. She was very much awake for she slept during the flight. She felt that she was finally at home because she didn’t consider Chicago her home or Canada. Only Taiwan gave her this feeling of warmth and happiness. Though she was just going to stay there only for a day, she planned to savor her stay. She went out to find her chauffeur and there he was, a man holding a placard bearing her name, she then quickly walked towards him.
“Are you Ms. Chien?” he asked.
“Yes I am,” she said smiling at the man before her.
“Hi I’m Dave, I am your chauffeur during your stay.” He said getting her carry-on luggage and placing it in the trunk of the limousine. He opened the door for her then went to the driver seat.
The trip to her hotel was very much uneventful until she spotted a bakeshop. She quickly summoned Dave to stop and with a screeching halt, they stopped. She then went out of the car and went inside the shop. It was still the same as ever; the ambiance and the cakes were still the same. Many memories came flashing into her mind as she scanned her surroundings, many of it was spent with her best friend and she cherished every bit of it. She looked at the cakes that were now lined up before her; she was like a kid coming to her favorite candy store. After much confusion on what cake to buy, she finally bought herself a sampler that included 3 of her favorite cakes to eat later in the hotel room then she exited. “I’ll surely ask next time if I could buy the store.” She thought to herself.
Upon her arrival she decided to eat the cakes because she really missed these little things that she used to do back then, the bakeshops in Chicago couldn’t match up to her taste when it comes to cakes. After eating, she flipped through the channels and found nothing, so she just decided to take a nap since it was still early.
At eight o’clock in the morning the sun brightly shinning awakened her. She opened the curtains to fully embrace its warmth; she smiled to herself and stared at the buildings in front of her. She has been gone too long that she did not recognize the buildings that stood in front of her. After minutes of staring, she decided to take a shower and get herself ready.
She opted to wear her black A-line skirt and black coat with her crisp white blouse all by Roberto Cavalli, she picked her Cole Haan black pumps to go with her ensemble. She was fixing her files on her briefcase when a knock interrupted her. She went to the door and greeted her visitor.
“Good Morning” she said beaming a smile. She looked at the lady who seemed to be two years younger than her.
“Good Morning, I’m Linda Scott, I am the manager here in Taiwan. Am I bothering you, Miss Chien? Your secretary told me to pick you up.”
“No. Not at all, I was just fixing my suitcases, come in.” she said leading Linda inside her room and making her seat on the sofa.
“Make yourself comfortable, I am just going to finish fixing my things.” She continued.
She then proceeded fixing her things, once she was finished; she talked to Linda who was looking at her from a far.
“Have you eaten breakfast?”
“Not yet Ma’am. Why?” She said earnestly.
She then pulled her hand and led her outside.
“Great, you can eat with me then!” she exclaimed.
“No Ma’am don’t bother, I am okay.” Linda said to her.
“Come on, don’t be shy. It’s such a beautiful day and I don’t want to start it alone so come with me and no buts, remember I’m your boss,” she said laughing.
“Oh okay, Ma’am. If you insist” Linda said giving up.
“And please don’t call me Ma’am when we are outside, it makes me feel rather old. Just call me Adriana.”
“Okay Adriana.” Linda said shyly.
They proceeded to the hotel’s restaurant and ordered their food. Linda found out that their boss was not as uptight as what she thought because of their conversation with Mr. Ximen. She was actually fun to be with and she was a very nice person once you get to know her.
“So how’s business in Taipei?” asked Adriana.
“Well, we have analyzed what type of consumers buy our products and found out that we should expand our line so that we can reach out to all types of consumers and that’s why we are planning to make different advertisements to communicate to them.”
“That’s good to hear then, I’m sure that you’ll do a great job.” She said honestly.
“Thanks!” Linda exclaimed.
After eating, they went out and were greeted by Dave.
“Good Morning, Ms. Chien and Ms. Scott,” he greeted while opening the door for them to come in.
Once they were settled in Dave went to the driver seat and went off.
“Where are we going Ma’am?” Dave inquired.
“To the Ximen Enterprises, Dave.” Adriana said shortly looking around the buildings that surrounded them. She felt that this place has changed but never the less she felt at home in this place.

Ximen Enterprises
She walked out of the limousine and proceeded inside the building. Once she entered in she felt people staring at her from afar. She acted nonchalantly because she was already used to this kind of treatment. Many people especially from the male population stood there admiring her beauty and grace. She exuded everything that a man would want but it seemed that she was in a world of her own as she walked confidently.
She walked by a couple of guys that said, “She’s hot, probably one of Master Ximen’s meimeis.”
The other guy replied, “No she isn’t! Look at her clothes, it’s for business so that means she’s a client”
While the guys were busy drooling after her, the ladies were looking at her clothes, “Look at her clothes! I’m sure their designer clothes.”
The other lady said, “Yeah, I think so too. I saw that on Roberto Cavalli’s couture last week and now she’s wearing them.”
Then they all said in unison, “Probably a rich girl who’s making a deal with Master Ximen.”
When they saw her entered the elevator and proceeded up, they went back to their jobs and stopped talking about the lady for if their Master Ximen saw them like that, they will be surely reprimanded.
